Operation Overviewofcontrols

This chapter describes the indicators and controls in the cab.

The pages listed in the table refer to the description of the controls. The identification of the control elements with a combination of digits, or a combination of digits and letters, e.g. 40/18 or 40/A, means: fig. no. 40/control element no. 18 or position A in fig. no. 40.

You can unfold pages ( 34 and/or 36) for a better overview.

The following symbols are used: n. s. = not shown.

•This symbol stands for a list.

•Subdivision within lists or an activity. Follow the steps in the recommended sequence.

☞ This symbol requires you to carry out the activity described.

➥ Description of the effects or results of an activity.

“Option” = optional equipment. Stated whenever controls or other components of the machine are installed as an option.

Unfold page 34 for a better overview.

48Indicator(red)–engineoilpressure

Comes on if the engine oil pressure is too low. In this case:

☞ Stop the machine.

☞ Turn off the engine immediately and check the oil level (➠ page 101). The indicator comes on when the ignition is turned on and turns off as soon as the engine runs.

43Temperatureindicator–engine

Indicates the engine oil temperature detected by a sensor.

NOTE:

The engine oil temperature must range from 80 – 248°F (80 – 120°C). The maximum permissible engine oil temperature is 266°F (130°C) (red section).

46Indicator(red)–alternatorchargefunction

The indicator comes on when the ignition is turned on and turns off as soon as the engine runs.

The V-belt for the alternator, or the charging circuit of the alternator is faulty if the indicator comes on with the engine running. The battery is not charged anymore ( ➠ page 106).

45Indicator(yellow)–airfilter

Indicates air filter contamination. In this case: Have the air filter replaced by an authorized dealer

66Indicator(green)–right/leftturnindicatoronrearattachment Flashes repeatedly when turn indicator 27/34 is used, and if there is an electric connection to a front or rear attachment.

62Indicator(blue)–highbeam

Comes on if high beam is turned on, or during headlight flashing.

61Indicator(yellow)–coldstarter

Comes on when the key in start switch 27/ 14 is in position 2 preheating. A glow plug preheats the air in the combustion chamber of the engine when the key is in position 2.

47Indicator(red)–parkingbrake

Comes on when parking brake lever 28/13 is applied. The electric interlock prevents moving the machine with the parking brake applied.

49Hydraulicoiltemperatureindicator

Comes on if hydraulic oil temperature exceeds 203°F (95°C).

IMPORTANT!

Risk of hydraulic damage as soon as temperature indicator 49 comes on.

☞ Relieve work and driving hydraulics. To do this:

•Stop the machine.

•Move control lever 27 /10 of the telescopic unit to neutral.

•Select neutral by using tip switch 76

•Run the engine at increased speeds until indicator 49 turns off.

44Indicator(red)–hydraulicoilfilter

Indicates too high of pressure in the hydraulic reflux line to the tank. In this case:

☞ Have the hydraulic oil filter checked and, if necessary, replaced by an authorized dealer.

60Indicator(green)–right/leftturnindicator

Flashes repeatedly when turn indicator 27/34 is used.

59Indicator(yellow)–hoseburstvalve(option)

Indicates that the hose burst valve is turned on. This avoids lowering or dumping out the telescopic unit without any resistance

➥ –see Hose burst valve safety feature on page83.

41Indicator(red)–steeringsynchronization

Indicates that the wheels on both axles are aligned

➥ –see Steering synchronization (with 25 mph [40 km/h] high speed) on page55.

51Indicator(green)–4-wheelsteering

Indicates that four wheel steering is turned on ➥ –see Changing steering mode (withhigh speed option) on page56.

69Indicator(green)–front-axlesteering(option)

Indicates that front axle steering is turned on ➥ –see Changing steering mode (withhigh speed option) on page56.

52and68indicator(green)–drivingdirection

Indicates forward/reverse driving direction

➥ –see Select drive range on page51.
