7.13.2 Engine oil filter – Replacement

DANGER Rotating and moving engine parts.
Risk of crushing, danger of parts of the body being caught or pulled in!
• Only run the engine at low power. Keep away from the engine's danger zone.
WARNING High level of engine noise when the engine is running.
Risk of damage to hearing!
• Wear ear protectors.
WARNING
NOTICE Hot oil. Oil can contain combustion residues which are harmful to health.
Risk of injury and poisoning!
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask. • Avoid contact with skin. • Do not inhale oil vapor.
Damage to component!
Severe material damage!
• For filter replacement with the engine running, operate the engine at low engine load. • The filter which is to be replaced must be cut out for a brief period only.
Replacing engine oil filter
1. Stop engine (→ Page 95) and disable engine start. 2. Unscrew oil filter using filter wrench. 3. Clean sealing surface on connecting piece. 4. Check condition of new oil filter sealing ring and moisten it with oil. 5. Screw on and tighten new oil filter by hand. 6. Replace other oil filters in the same way. 7. Turn engine with starting system after every oil change and filter replacement (→ Page 134). 8. Check oil level (→ Page 176).

1. To cut out the filter to be replaced, set the three-way cock to the corresponding position. • Position A: Lower filters cut out • Position B: Both filters cut in (normal operating position) • Position C: Upper filters cut out.
