3.4.12Overload warning device
3.4.12.1General
The overload warning device shows the machine operator when the permissible load carrying capacity has been reached, both optically via the indicator light H16 and acoustically, via a buzzer.
The overload warning device is designed to prevent the permissible load level from being exceeded unintentionally. In this event, the working range must be reduced or the load must be set down without increasing the working range.

Working with the machine
Operating instructions
The overload warning device does not relieve the operator of the responsibility of lifting only known loads or permissible loads, based on the load carrying capacity of the machine.
The permissible load carrying capacity depends on the condition of the machine (undercarriage, attachment) and must be taken from the load chart in the cab.
The load carrying capacity values attain a maximum of 75% of the tipping capacity or 87 % of the hydraulic lifting power in accordance with ISO 10567.
Note!
The load values change due to the installation or removal of attachment parts and working tools.
For backhoe attachment (without the backhoe, incl. bucket cylinder, change over lever and connecting link) the values on the top of the stick apply. The machine can be turned by 360° on solid, level ground. If the bucket cylinder, change over lever and connecting link are removed, the values increase by an additional 240kg. If a quick change adapter is used, the values are reduced by 116kg (QCA33) or 225kg (QCA48).
3.4.12.2Operating principle
Danger!
When carrying out load lifting work with the machine, the applicable accident prevention regulations must be observed. The overload warning device does not shut down the machine if the permissible load level is exceeded. The machine operator is only informed of the situation.
The overload warning device consists of a simple pressure switch, which is connected to the piston side of the hoist cylinder.
If the load pressure in the hoist cylinder reaches the level of the shift pressure, the pressure switch emits a signal, the indicator light H16 lights up and the buzzer sounds.
The shift pressure in the pressure switch is selected in such a way that the stability factors can be maintained, even in unsupported condition (small stability momentum).
3.4.12.3Operation
Danger!
No load lifting work may be carried out if the overload warning device is defective. The overload warning device must be repaired by an expert technician.
The overload warning device is activated via switch S18 in the control panel A in the right control console.
Press switch S18 down. The overload warning device is activated. The indicator light in the switch lights up.
Note!
The overload warning device must be checked before the first use and annually by an expert technician in accordance with the inspection and adjustment guidelines provided in the service manual.
Installation and removal of attachment parts
The operator must check the function of the overload warning device before each work shift.
To check the overload warning device, extend the hoist cylinder to the stop. Continue to move the joystick in the direction Raise boom. The warning symbol must light up. The buzzer must sound.
Note!
Deactivate the overload warning device when working with a digging tool, since the increased effort of the machine will cause the overload warning device to be constantly active.
Press switch S18 up.
The overload warning device is deactivated. The indicator light in the switch turns off.
