Control, operation

Position the machine so that the load or the digging material can be picked up over the rigid axle or the idler. For mobile excavators, lower the support when possible and lock the oscillating axle.

Danger!

Insufficient support and machine damage. Do not use a dozer blade to support the machine.

Danger!

Risk of fatal injury due to slewing of the machine. Ensure that there is no-one within the danger zone r of the machine.

Caution!

Risk of injury when working.

Always wear safety boots and a safety helmet and safety glasses, particularly when leaving the cab during demolition work.

Always wear the seat belt. Use the horn to give a short warning signal before starting work.

3.6.3Working with the backhoe bucket

Danger!

Risk of fatal injury and damage to the machine when moving the backhoe bucket. Make sure that the backhoe bucket is not moved too close to the cab.

The backhoe bucket can damage the cab and injure the machine operator. Make sure that there is no-one in the danger zone of the backhoe bucket. When working with the backhoe bucket, do not apply parking brake S16

The travel gear could be damaged.

The machine must be in working position.

Aligning, taking up the digging material, lifting

Aligning the stick and backhoe bucket (1)

Align the stick in such a way that its underside is at an angle of approx. 45° to the ground.

Align the backhoe bucket in such a way that its bottom can penetrate the ground at an angle of approx. 90°.

Taking up digging material (2):

To lift out the digging material, slowly and evenly pull the stick in and slowly and evenly rotate the backhoe bucket simultaneously.

As soon as the stick is perpendicular to the ground, raise the boom slowly and evenly, in addition to pulling in the stick and backhoe bucket. Stopping suddenly will result in impact loads and vibrations.

Lifting digging material (3):

When the backhoe bucket is full or the stick can no longer be pulled in, raise the boom and backhoe bucket until the filling surface is parallel to the ground.

3.6.4Loading the transport vehicle

Danger!

Risk of fatal injury due to falling digging material.

Do not load the transport vehicle so high that the digging material falls over the walls of the vehicle.

Make sure that there is no-one within the danger zone or in the transport vehicle when loading.

If possible, the machine should be positioned higher than the transport vehicle to avoid having to lift the digging material unnecessarily.

Position the transport vehicle in such a way that it can be loaded from the rear or from the side.

Move the attachment of the machine over the loading surface of the transport vehicle.

Distribute the digging material evenly over the loading area of the transport vehicle by moving the backhoe bucket and stick out, turning the superstructure and possibly also moving the boom.

If the backhoe bucket is not sufficiently emptied or there is still digging material in the backhoe bucket, curl the backhoe bucket in and out several times to loosen the digging material.

3.6.5Working with the hydraulic hammer

Please also refer to the operating instructions provided by the manufacturer of the hydraulic hammer.

Danger!

Misuse of the hydraulic hammer can injure people or damage the machine. The use of an unapproved hydraulic hammer could damage steel parts or other machine components.

Only use hydraulic hammers approved by LIEBHERR.

Close all windows in the cab before working.

Use the hydraulic hammer only to break up rocks, concrete and other breakable materials.

Do not try to break up rocks or concrete by moving the lever on the work equipment or by the hydraulic hammer.

Do not use the drop power of the hydraulic hammer to break up rocks or other materials.

Do not move any objects with the hydraulic hammer, and do not lift to the machine with the hydraulic hammer.

Only use the hydraulic hammer in th udinal direction.

Do not operate the hydraulic hammer pointing in the direction of the machine, since exploding rocks or concrete could damage the machine and / or injure the driver.

3-90 Hydraulic hammer

The machine must be positioned in the working position on level, solid ground. The stick may not be positioned vertically. No cylinder may be fully retracted or extended.

Do not operate the hydraulic hammer on the same spot continually or for longer than 15 seconds.

Excessive continuous operation of the hydraulic hammer causes unnecessary overheating of the hydraulic oil.

Change the position of the machine and resume hammer operations.

Danger!

The stability of the machine could be affected. When using a hydraulic hammer, only work with the machine in area A

3.6.6Grading

Grading work can either be carried out using the digging tool or with a dozer blade (option).

The machine must be in working position. The outriggers should be raised.

Danger!

Serious risk of injury when moving the machine. Make sure that there is no-one within the working range of the machine.

Caution!

The machine could be damaged. Never move the machine as long as the attachment is touching the ground.

To grade with a backhoe bucket, place it flat on the ground (see Fig. 3-92) and move the stick slowly forward and backward. Move the boom evenly up and down while the stick is moving.

If a dozer blade is installed (option), lower the dozer blade to the ground and move slowly forward and backward with the machine.

3.6.7Working with the grab

Danger!

Risk of fatal injury and damage to the machine due to an oscillating grab.

ine could be affected.

Ensure that the grab does not swing too close to the cab. Hold the stick in such a way that the grab cannot swing towards the machine when travelling or slowing the machine down. Move the joystick slowly and evenly to prevent the grab from swinging. Ensure that the grab does not swing toward any persons in the working area. Do not lift a load if the boom and stick are extended too far and do not swing a heavy load too far to the left or right.

Observe the load chart: This shows the permissible load carrying capacities at the end of the stick, depending on working radius.

3.6.7.1Clamshell grab (construction equipment)

The machine must be in working position.

Align the stick (1):

Open the clamshells fully.

Lower the stick perpendicular to the excavation area.
