ANTI-THEFTPRECAUTIONS whilstit may be difficultto deterthe ’professional’ carthief, the majorityof thefts arecarriedout by unskilledopportunists. Therefore, takevehiclesecurityveryseriously and ALWAYS adopt thissimple ’fourpoint’ drillwheneveryou leaveyour vehicle- even for justa few minutes: 1. Fullycloseallthe windows(and the sunroof). 2. Removeyour valuablebelongings(or hide them out of sight). 3. Removethe starterkey. 4. Superlockthe vehicleusing the remote handset. Thievesareattractedby ’vulnerable’ vehicles. Even if you havefollowedthe ’fourpoint’ drill, thereis stillmuch you can do to makeyour vehiclea lessinvitingtarget. BE SAFE - NOTSORRY! • Parkwhereyour vehiclecan be easilyseen by householdersand passers-by. • At night, parkin welllitareasand avoid desertedor dimly-litsidestreets. • NEVERleavethe keysin the vehicle. • Do not keepimportantdocuments(or sparekeys)in the vehicle- thesearea real bonus for the thief. IMPORTANTINFORMATION Rememberthe breakdown safetycode If a breakdownoccurswhilsttravelling:• Whereverpossible, consistentwith safetyand trafficconditions, the vehicleshould be moved off the mainthoroughfare, preferablyonto the shoulderas faras possible. If a breakdownoccurson a freeway, pull welloverto the insideof the hard shoulder. • Switchon hazardlights. • If possible, positionthe warning triangle(locatedon the undersideof the loadspacefloorpanel- see ’Warningtriangle’)or a flashing amberlightat an appropriate distancefrom the vehicleto warn othertrafficof the breakdown(note the legalrequirementsof some areas). • Considerevacuatingpassengers through the doors facingawayfrom the traffic,to a safeareaawayfrom the vehicleas a precautionin case your RangeRoveris struckby anothervehicle.
