2. BiG X Design: Machine Concept Machine concept The engine (2) is transverse mounted across the frame (1). This ensures a direct drive with maximum efficiency. As the diesel tank is positioned low down in the frame, the machine has a low centre of gravity. This ensures safe working on slopes. The forage harvester is driven fully hydraulically by wheel motors without shifting gear. This design provides space for a large foraging unit over the front axle. Thanks to the good arrangement of the foraging unit and the positioning of the engine behind the rear axle, an optimal weight distribution of 60% on front and rear axle is created: 40%.
