3.1 Information

The following section gives information on the topics of: –assembly, –identification, –transport dimensions and weights, –slinging points and –transport.

Assembly The lengths in each case are given as the distance between the centre of the locking pin (on the main boom head) and the front edge of the head sheave. For this reason, the lengths of the individual parts given in Transport dimensions and weights and their totals do not agree with the lengths stated here.

Identification

SRisk of accidents if not adjusted correctly

The lattice extension is designed for the truck crane with which it was delivered.

If a lattice extension is for use on several truck cranes, it must be matched to the truck crane and marked with the serial number. Adjustments to the lattice extension may only be carried out by CraneCARE. This prevents malfunctions and damage.

Transport dimensions and weights

Take note of the data on the weight and dimensions of the lattice extension in the respective sections. The dimensions listed here, and their totals, do not agree with the data listed in the Assembly section.

Slinging points

GRisk of accidents due to falling parts of the lattice extension!

When slinging, take note of the centre of distribution shown in the respective diagram. Use the slinging points provided. Always use lifting gear with a sufficient lifting capacity. In this way, you prevent the attached sections from slipping out, falling and causing injury during installation or removal.

Transport

SRisk of damaging the lattice extension

Always secure the lattice extension by tying it down with suitable belts when it is transported on a separate vehicle. This prevents the swing-away lattice extension from tipping and becoming damaged during transportation.

4Swing-away lattice

Swing-away lattice 4.1 Validity

This chapter applies for the derricking and inclinable swing-away lattice. The swing-away lattices are distinguished by their angle settings.

–The angle is adjusted on the derricking swing-away lattice with the hydraulic cylinder (1).

Rigging work that applies only to this swingaway lattice is indicated in the checklists with the symbol (1.1).

–The angle is adjusted on the inclinable swing-away lattice with the angle piece (2).

Rigging work that applies only to this swingaway lattice is indicated in the checklists with the symbol (2.1).

H

Term designation

The swing-away lattice is also a component of the boom extension. For this reason, the described circumstances also refer to the boom extension under certain conditions.

Then, instead of the expression Swing-away lattice, the collective term lattice extension is used.

The lifting capacity tables primarily contain the term Swing-away lattice extension. This term will only be used later in this chapter, when a length specification is necessary.

When no length data is necessary (e.g. for rigging work), the term Swingaway lattice is only used when the text needs to be as short as possible.
