Backup warning system

The backup warning system consists of a backup alarm A, fitted onto the inside of the towing device cover, and a switch and wiring. The backup alarm generates an acoustic signal when you shift into reverse. The acoustic level is about 103dB(A) at a distance of 3’ (1 m) and at a frequency of 2800Hz.

DANGER!

When backing up with the machine –Accident risk.

☞ Make sure that nobody is within the work area of the machine.

☞ Do not rely exclusively on the backup alarm to alert others.

Differential lock

IMPORTANT!

A differential lock distributes traction evenly to the front and rear wheels. The differential lock may be damaged if it is turned on at the wrong moment, e.g., when turning corners or if the wheels are already spinning.

☞ Only actuate the differential lock if you expect a wheel to spin, e.g., when working on slopes or on slippery ground.

Turning on the differential lock

☞ Proceed as follows:

• Press and hold tip switch 85 on the joystick.

➥Indicator 40 on the instrument panel comes on.

Turning off the differential lock

☞ Proceed as follows:

• Reduce engine speed.

• Release tip switch 85.

➥Indicator 40 on the instrument panel turns off.

Steering system

Synchronizing the steering systemDefinition

Steering or wheel synchronization is the process of aligning the wheels so that both axles do not run in the same track.

IMPORTANT!

You must synchronize if the wheels no longer follow the same track when driving straight-ahead on level ground.

After starting the machine, synchronize by turning the steering wheel to the left and right. Indicator 46/ 41 comes on as you turn the wheel. When both steering rams have passed through the straight-ahead position from both directions, synchronization is complete and Indicator 46/ 41 turns off.

Only the first drive range is active during synchronization. Use rocker switch 46/72 to select the second range, the machine shifts after it finishes synchronizing.

☞ Proceed as follows:

• Machines with high speed (option): make sure high speed is turned off.

IMPORTANT!

The machine must be at a standstill.

• Select low drive range 72/A –see Drive range selector on page54.

• Drive at walking pace on level ground and press tip switch 54/B

• Steer to the left and right while driving until indicator 41 turns off.

• Complete a functional check of the steering system.

Changing steering mode (withouthigh-speed)

☞ Turn on front axle steering as follows:

• Slide the lock on rocker switch 55 rearward and press down rocker switch B

➥Front axle steering is not switched until the rear axle has been set to straightahead. Indicator 69 flashes until the shift is over.

➥Indicator 69 for front axle steering comes on.

• Complete a functional check of the steering system.

☞ Turn on four-wheel steering as follows:

• Stop the machine.

• Slide the lock on rocker switch 55 rearwards and press down rocker switch A

➥Four-wheel steering is not switched until the front axle has been set to straightahead. Indicator 51 flashes until the shift is over.

➥Indicator 51 for four-wheel steering comes on.

• Complete a functional check of the steering system.
