IDLE AND HIGH SPEED ADJUSTMENTS
figure 2- Flushing Fuel SY$lem
2. Crank the engine to direct fuel from each pressure line into its respective injector inlet and flush away any dirt or foreign material, Figure 2.
3. After the lines and injectors have been flushed, connect the lines to the injectors, tighten and then back off the connectors two turns each.
NOTE: It is not necessary fo remove the fuel tank to bleed the fuel system. C. Final Bleeding and Engine Starting
1. Set the hand throttle for idle position. 2. Crank the engine with the starter and observe the pressure line connection to each injector.
When fuel is emitted, tighten the connection.
NOTE: The jlU11 injector pump is self-bleeding; therefore, it requires Ill) attention when bleeding tlte system.
The fuel injection pump is provided with engine idle and high speed adjusting screws, shown in Figure 3. In addition, the throttle linkage may be adjusted to provide for the correct amount of dead travel for the hand throttle lever. Each of these adjustments are important to the operating efficiency of the Ford Diesel Tractor and should be checked whenever the tractor is st!rviced.
A. Idle Speed Adjustment
1. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal
operating temperature, 1800 F. 2. Position the hand throttle lever for low idle (at the stop) which should read 600 rpm on the
Proof-Meter. 3. Adjust the idle speed at 600 rpm as follows: a. Back off the jam nut on the idle speed adjustment screw, Figure 3, and use an Allen wrench to turn the screw. h. Turn the screw in to increase engine rpm or out to decrease engine rpm.
