BMA Shield PMC-R Operating Manual

Initiate a travel zone The travel zone is to permit persons unfamiliar with longwall mining operations to cross the face within a defined, moving zone, without experiencing shield operations in that zone. It disables all auto sequence operations so shields don’t lower, advance or set in that area. However an AFC bankpush and TCC operations are allowed to continue. The Travel Zone is accessible when the SCU shows the Default Display.

Start a travel zone

To initiate a travel zone Press

The display will show:

The travel zone will now be initiated.

The SCU at the ends of the travel zone have the ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’, ‘#’, ‘G’, ‘I’, ‘P’, & ‘N’ Keys flashing. The display will also indicate that it is the last shield that forms the travel zone by indicating ‘TZONE>-0’ or ‘<TZONE-0’ meaning that there are no more shields that form the travel zone group in the direction away from the PMCR of initiation.
