First, the tail-end drive is started, and after a certain time delay the head-end drive follows. An interlock facility must be provided to ensure that the tail-end drive always starts before the headend drive. If this cannot be guaranteed the conveyor is not allowed to start at all.

How to start-up conveyor system
Start-up of the conveyor system must be carried out under the instruction of specialists from BUCYRUS.
WARNING MAKE SURE THAT NOBODY IS PRESENT IN THE DANGER AREA OF THE CONVEYOR SYSTEM WHEN YOU START OPERATING THE CONVEYOR. PARTICULARLY DURING THE FIRST START-UP A SAFE DISTANCE SHOULD BE KEPT WITH RESPECT TO THE CONVEYOR AS E.G. DUE TO INSTALLATION ERRORS HAZARDS MAY OCCUR WHICH WOULD NOT OCCUR DURING NORMAL OPERATION!
IN ADDITION, OBSERVE THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SEPARATE OPERATING MANUALS FOR THE CONVEYOR COMPONENTS, E.G. ELECTRIC MOTORS, GEARBOXES, DRIVE CONNECTIONS, ETC.

Before start-up
The following work has to be performed before beginning with the actual start-up procedure: Align the conveyor. Remove all tools, auxiliary equipment, etc. from the conveyor and your working area. Check all bolted connections, in particular the connections of the drives. Check that all the bolted connections are tightened to the specified torque. Check the hydraulic connections and pipes/hoses for leaks or damage. Check the proper laying of all the supply lines. Check the hydraulic plug connectors. In particular, check that the coupling clamps are completely pushed in.
