tensioning the conveyor chain
disengaging the chain locking device
DANGER TAKE SPECIAL CARE WHEN WORKING ON CHAINS WHICH ARE UNDER TENSION. CORDON OFF YOUR WORKING AREA AND MAKE SURE THAT NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS ARE PRESENT IN THIS AREA. DURING THE TENSIONING PROCEDURE, ENSURE THAT ALL PERSONS ARE KEPT OUT OF THE DANGER AREA, I.E. ALONG THE CONVEYOR CHAIN AND IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE DRIVES. ALWAYS WORK FROM ALONGSIDE OF THE CONVEYOR CHAIN.
WHEN USING AN ADDITIONAL PULLING DEVICE FOR COUPLING THE ENDS OF THE CONVEYOR CHAIN, DO NOT USE SO-CALLED C-LINKS (CHAIN LINK CUT OPEN). THE CLINKS COULD FRACTURE UNDER THE LOAD! YOU COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED BY THE RECOILING CHAIN! USE ONLY THE CHAIN CONNECTORS SPECIFIED FOR FASTENING AND PULLING THE CHAIN ENDS.

IMPORTANT
NOTICE
Please proceed as follows:
Apply pressure to the tensioning motor of the tensioning device until the required chain pretension has been reached.
BE SURE TO OBSERVE THE SEPARATE OPERATING MANUAL FOR THE CHAIN TENSIONER USED!
As soon as the optional Chain Locking Device has locked into a horizontal chain link, you must depressurize the tensioning motor. Shorten or lengthen the chain. Couple the chain.
The chain assembly is now pre-tensioned.
After the chain assembly has been tensioned the Chain Locking Device must be disengaged and secured. Re-tension the chain briefly. Disengage the Chain Locking Device.
IF THE CHAIN LOCKING DEVICE IS DIFFICULT TO BE LIFTED IT IS STILL FIRMLY ENGAGED WITH THE CHAIN. NEVER TRY TO FREE THE CHAIN LOCKING DEVICE FROM THE CHAIN BY USING A HAMMER OR THE LIKE. BY RETENSIONING THE CHAIN AGAIN SLIGHTLY, THE CHAIN LOCKING DEVICE WILL BE LIFTED FROM THE CHAIN LINK. THE CHAIN LOCKING DEVICE CAN THEN BE REMOVED.
Close the cover of the coal deflector.
removing the chain locking device
The chain locking device is removed in the reverse order of installation. Move the chain assembly forward briefly. Pull out the locking frame.
NOTICE STARTING THE BLOCKED CONVEYOR CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVES! REMOVE THE CHAIN LOCKING DEVICE BEFORE STARTING THE CONVEYOR.
sequencing control of the conveyors

faults
delay Switching conditions between face & entry conveyors
The entry conveyor must always start before the face conveyor.
The face conveyor must always be stopped before the entry conveyor.
If the entry conveyor stops as a result of a fault, the face conveyor must be automatically switched off without delay.
A delay time of around 10 seconds should be allowed for start-up. Be sure to adapt the delay to the conditions in the mine. The time of 10 seconds stated here should be regarded as an approximate value only.
On conveyors which are equipped with drive units at the head and at the tail the individual drives have to be started and stopped one at a time to avoid an excessive formation of slack chain.
First, the tail-end drive is started, and after a certain time delay the head-end drive follows. An interlock facility must be provided to ensure that the tail-end drive always starts before the head-end drive. If this cannot be guaranteed the conveyor is not allowed to start at all.
First, the head-end drive is stopped, and after a certain time delay the tail-end drive follows.
