6. Prime pump to fill it with fuel. 1 L (1.06 qt) of fuel is more than adequate. 7. Hold throttle lever in run position. 8. Turn flywheel clockwise (as viewed from the flywheel end) until tip of Timing Tool has become MOIST with solid fuel. 9. Check timing mark on flywheel. The index mark must line up with injection pump timing mark on flywheel. See specifications.

4. Remove rubber plug from flywheel housing, if equipped. 5. Turn crankshaft pulley in either direction until the No. 1 cylinder top dead center (TDC) mark aligns with the index mark on the flywheel housing/ plate.
