We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Michael Glasser. At just 59 years young, his departure comes far too soon. Michael was not only a remarkable auctioneer, but a great man who gave so much to our industry - and to us personally. Michael joined the Texas Angus family in 2011 as our Guest Auctioneer, and for the next ten years, he, Maz and Lincoln were an integral part of our journey. His unmatched talent behind the microphone brought energy, excitement, and professionalism to every sale - even during the tough years, when true auctioneers like Michael shine the brightest.
From day one, Michael brought more than just skill - he brought heart, humour, and unwavering support. Whether we were celebratin big wins or navigating harder seasons, he was there, always dependable, always exceptional. The memories of ICEMAN, POWERPLAY and K2 selling under his hammer will stay with us forever. We adopted his ideas of selling bulls as a PICK or PAIR in the bull sales and even held a female sale 24 hours after the 2021 bull sale which was a very successful idea but exhausting!
Michael, thank you for everything - for your excellence, your honesty, and your friendship. We have long believed you were the best auctioneer in the business, and your absence leaves enormous shoes to fill. You weren’t just our auctioneer; you were, and always will be, part of the Texas Angus family.
Our thoughts are with Maz and the entire Glasser family during this difficult time. Rest easy mate, you truly were the best in the business.
As global demand for protein continues to rise, beef is in the box seat to supply it. The North American cattle herd is currently at a record low, following some of the worst droughts in history. With many livestock producers transitioning to broadacre cropping, herd numbers are expected to stay low for some time.
Meanwhile, Australian beef prices continue their upward march, with some economists predicting $7.50/kg by next year. Victoria and South Australia are finally seeing some reprieve with recent rain, and once there’s a general break across those regions, the market is only headed one way - up. Just look at lamb prices, they are now at record prices surpassing the record highs of 2022.
Our sale bulls have come through a solid season and are now thriving on lush forage oats and ryegrass. At Texas, we’re proud to say we’ve never locked our bulls up in feedlots and stuffed them with grain. Instead, they transition naturally from summer grazing of sub tropical grasses to early sown winter crops, giving them maximum time on forage crops to develop in a real - world environment.
At the World Angus Expo, visitors were in awe of the commercial relevance of our front cover bull - Texas HANDYMAN R448.
A grassfed, 1,250kg, 5-year-old herd sire who we sold three years ago for $10,000, he’s still fit, sound and ready for our clients next season. His longevity is no accident - it’s a result of strong structure, genetics, and the way he was raised here at Texas. He was grown out exactly like this year’s sale bulls, because we believe the way a bull is developed directly impacts his working life. Our bulls know how to graze, seek out females, breed, and thrive in some of Australia’s harshest environments.
This year we’re offering a great mix of sires of the 285 bulls including:
180 IVF/ET/AI BULLS:
31 RAWHIDE
31 NEW GROUND
19 THE ROCK
12 CONVERSE
17 MILLWILLAH JAAL

We can confidentally say there’s a bull for every production system. Fertility is tested and proven year after year. Of our 1000 stud breeders, large mobs of 300 breeders are run in the tough Coolatai grass country near Warialda, and these cows must rebreed, raise a strong calf, and do it all without early weaning.
PTIC heifers are managed in one group, often grazing several kilometres from any yards. And no female at Texas is supplementary fed - true paddock performance. And don’t miss this special opportunity:
We are offering the ‘Pick of the Pen’ PTIC heifers in this year’s sale. These standout females are due to calve prior to sale day, and 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Angus Youth Foundation - supporting the next generation of beef industry leaders.
Our Open Day is on the 10th July from 10-3pm where all bulls and 3 heifers will be penned, lunch and refreshments will be provided. If you can’t make the Open Day we look forward to seeing you at the sale! Once again we will have Spill the Beans Coffee Van at the sale and the coffees are on us! Plus there will be dinner and live entertainment after the sale, guaranteed a great night - please bring a coat!
Warmest regards, Ben & Wendy

Texas Angus traces its origins back to 1936, when the Scottish Australia Company established the herd at Texas, QLD, with 21 stud heifers and one bull imported from Scotland. Since then, no other female lines have been introduced, ensuring remarkable consistency across our 1,000 breeders today.
This is why our herd breeds so TRUE to TYPE.
To earn the TEXAS TICK of APPROVAL, our cows must meet the following criteria:
QUIET TEMPERAMENT – Essential at all times, especially when tagging a newborn calf.
PHENOTYPE & PROFITABILITY – Must consistently produce high-performance progeny that drive profitability for all sectors of the beef industry.
FERTILITY – Every female must rebreed annually. A prime example is Texas THUNDERSTRUCK, backed by 26 years of six consecutive generations that never missed a calf—even through the worst drought on record.
STRUCTURAL SOUNDNESS – Every female is rigorously scrutinized at each yarding, with only those meeting our strict structural standards retained.
UDDER QUALITY – Teats must be small and easily accessible for the calf to ensure optimal mothering ability.
LONGEVITY – A combination of structure, temperament, performance, fertility, and udder quality determines how long a cow remains in our herd. Longevity quickly identifies which cows are truly productive—a trait we believe is one of the most undervalued in the Angus breed.
