In recent years world currencies have fluctuated significantly. We offer you cruise prices in the currency that the individual ships operate. Rather than factoring in currency buffers that would invariably mean you would pay more, we keep our pricing transparent, giving you the best possible price. Circumnavigation of

Sumatra SHIP: Caledonian Sky

10 – 24 October 2016

Circumnavigate the world’s sixth largest island. Opportunities to visit Sumatra, a land of history and mystery are scarce and are usually limited to one region of the island. This exploration in the spring of 2016 will be all encompassing and include opportunities to see orangutans in their natural habitat, to snorkel over coral reefs, to visit remote islands where native indigenous people still live in isolation, free to practice their timeless tribal lore and to explore where few have been before. This voyage will be one of contrasts, from lush rainforests to diverse cultures, spectacular wildlife and an intriguing history, all of which will be made all the more captivating by the onboard expedition team who are experts in the natural world.

DAY TO DAY ITINERARY: DAY 1: Singapore.

Enjoy a guided tour of Singapore’s highlights before embarking the Caledonian Sky and enjoying a welcome drink as we sail the Malacca Strait.

DAY 2: Malacca, Malaysia.

With more than its fair share of colonisers from Malaysian princes, the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese this strategically placed city has a fascinating history that we will be sure to learn more about.

DAY 3: Lake Toba, Sumatra.

Today we will cruise across the Lake to the central island of Samosir, passing lovely coves with white sandy beaches to where colourful Toba Batak villages cling to the shore. We visit the traditional beautiful houses and ancient tombs of Laga Siallagan, the first raja of Ambarita.

DAY 4: Belawan.

Choose to visit the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre at Bukit Lawang, where orphaned orangutans are brought here to learn how to live in the wild again. Alternatively explore the highlights of Medan, including the 19th century Maimoon Palace and the Mesjid Raya (Grand Mosque).

DAY 5: At sea.

Today provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the facilities of the Caledonian Sky and presentations from the expedition team.

DAY 6: Pulau Weh & Banda Aceh.

This morning we will snorkel in the clear waters off Gapang Beach. In the afternoon we will explore Banda Aceh.

Enormous effort has been made to rebuild since the 2004 Tsunami and we will visit the Tsunami Museum, the State Museum and the Baiturrahman Mosque.

DAY 7: Simeulue Islands.

Located 100 miles from the Sumatran coast and with white sand beaches, vast coral reefs and a pristine blue sea dotted with a multitude of seamounts, atolls and small islets, Simeulue Island is well off the traditional tourist route and we will enjoy swimming, snorkelling and nature walks.

DAY 8: Nias Island.

Nias Island’s isolation has protected its cultural heritage and the island has a history of head hunting, warfare, slaves and gold. We will see some wonderful examples of tribal art and unique architecture as well as a traditional stone jumping demonstration where talented local villagers leap over six foot tall stone megaliths in a rite of passage.

DAY 9: Siberut Island.

This morning we will anchor off the Mentawai archipelago. Like Nias, these islands have a unique culture, flora and fauna due to their isolation from the rest of the country. Siberut Island is rich in wildlife and we will keep an eye out for

some of the 140 bird species as well as the monkeys which frequent the forest.

DAY 10: Padang for Bukittinggi.

This part of Western Sumatra is home to the Minangkabau culture, a matrilineal society where the woman is the head of the house. We will head inland, visiting the breath taking Ngari Sianok Canyon and Japanese tunnels from WWII. Or choose to visit the Batang Paluph Nature Reserve, home to the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia arnoldii which can grow to nearly one metre wide.

DAY 11: Bengkulu.

Sir Stamford Raffles arrived in Bengkulu in 1818 and established a market in pepper, coffee and nutmeg. On a city drive we will view Fort Marlborough, the British cemetery and explore the bustling local market.

DAY 12: Pulau Krakatoa.

This afternoon we will explore the volcanic island of Krakatoa, which famously exploded in 1883. We will use our Zodiacs to land on the island where you can choose to join a nature walk at the base, climb up the lower slopes of the volcano or swim in the surrounding waters.

DAY 13: Belitung Islands.

The idyllic Belitung Islands are famed for their long clean beaches and crystal clear sea water and coral reefs.

Snorkelling platforms will allow us to swim with a multitude of colourful fish as well as molluscs, nudibranchs, giant clams, jellyfish and sea urchins.

Meanwhile nature walks will explore the forest for birdlife or you may prefer to simply stay on the beach.

DAY 14: At sea.

Enjoy a relaxing day as we cruise towards Singapore.

This unique voyage reveals the cultural highlights, natural attractions, and dramatic coastlines of Honshu Island as we sail the Inland Sea. Discover Japan’s rich historic legacy as we explore fabled shrines and temples, magnificent castles and fortresses, superb parks, formal gardens, and elegant pagodas. Visit the exceptionally moving Peace Memorial Park in the heart of Hiroshima and photograph the iconic red Torii gate at Miyajima – entrance to a 6thcentury Shinto shrine. Among the many highlights is a full day excursion to South Korea’s Gyeongju, a World Heritage Site and the ancient capital of the Shilla Dynasty, encompassing hundreds of excavated monuments, temples, tombs and pagodas.

HIGHLIGHTS: • Visit sacred Shinto shrines and ancient Buddhist temples.

• Stroll through the moving Peace Memorial Park at Hiroshima.

Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to our centrally located hotel for dinner with the group.

This morning join a city tour that showcases the modern and ancient highlights of Japan’s dynamic capital city. After lunch, ride one of the famed bullet trains to Niigata where you will embark the Caledonian Sky. DAY 3: Sado Island.

Well off the beaten path of most travellers, Sado Island possesses both the pastoral charm of verdant rice paddies and bamboo groves, and the dramatic beauty of surf-pounded seacoasts. Visit a sake brewery, make soba noodles by hand, and explore the Sado Kinzan Gold Mine. In Toki Forest Park, view the endangered Japanese crested ibis and learn about conservation efforts.

DAY 4: Kanazawa.

Kanazawa is a thriving center of the arts, where the narrow and winding cobblestone streets have a quaint photogenic charm – around each bend is a traditional house, museum, art gallery, crafts shop, historic samurai residence, or even a geisha house to explore. The famed Kenroku-en Garden with its sophisticated, centuriesold designs create an artful aura of seclusion and contemplation.

DAY 5: Matsue.

The coastline along the north shore of Honshu offers splendid views of craggy rock faces and rugged shores sculpted by waves. Matsue, the “town of water,” is nestled between a scenic lake and a large lagoon. Visit the Matsue Castle, a 250-year-old samurai house complete with tatami rooms and the Adachi Museum of Arts.

DAY 6: Gyeongju, South Korea.

Gyeongju is described by UNESCO as one of the world’s ten most historically significant sites, it is often described as a “museum without walls.” As the ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty,Gyeongju reached its artistic pinnacle in the 8th century as

craftsmen created masterpieces in wood, metal, stone, and pottery.

DAY 7: Hagi, Japan.

Hagi is an exquisite medieval samurai town which served as the capital of the local daimyo (feudal lord) between 1603 and 1868. Stroll through the serene Tokoji Temple and burial site of the daimyo which is surrounded by thousands of stone lanterns. Hagi is also worldrenowned for its pastel-glazed pottery.

DAY 11: Takamatsu.

Enjoy a tour of Shikoku Village, a fascinating open-air museum. Take a stroll through Noguchi Sculpture Park to view over 150 works of art on display in a traditional Japanese garden setting.

DAY 8: Uwajima.

Uwajima Castle was built in the early 17th century and houses a small museum which includes armour, furnishings, and archives of the Date family. Then stroll through Tensha-en, a traditional Japanese landscape garden constructed in 1868.

DAY 9: Hiroshima – Miyajima.

In Hiroshima, visit the compelling Peace Memorial Park. A World Heritage Site, the park and its monuments are dedicated to the hope for world peace. At Miyajima, or ‘shrine island’, photograph the iconic scarlet torii, a giant camphor-wood gate that appears to float at high tide.

DAY 10: Uno-Ko – Naoshima.

Naoshima is known for its many contemporary arts museums including Benesse House Museum and the Chichu Art Museum. Return to UnoKo and enjoy a walk through one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens, Koraku-en, a 17th-century formal

DAY 12: Kobe – Kyoto.

Disembark in Kobe for a morning city tour, including a museum that chronicles the devastating 1995 earthquake. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to a spectacular city overlook on the verdant slopes of Mount Rokko. Board a bullet train for the trip to Kyoto. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Okura.

DAY 13: Kyoto.

After breakfast enjoy a morning tour of Japan’s lovely cultural capital. Among the tour highlights is a visit to the Heian-jingu Shrine and its gardens, the 12th-century Sanjusangen-do Temple, housing the Thousand-Armed Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy; and the exquisite Kiyomizu-dera Temple with its sacred waterfall. After lunch at a local restaurant the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure followed by overnighting at our hotel.

This morning return to the airport for your flight to Manado*. Upon arrival enjoy a city tour visiting the open air produce market and the North Sulawesi Provincial Museum where a

local guide presents the history of the region, before boarding the Caledonian Sky. DAY 3: Bunaken National Marine Park.

The phenomenal biodiversity of Bunaken has been protected as a national park since 1991 and its crystalclear waters offer some of the best snorkelling and diving in Indonesia.

Spend the morning here, exploring the reefs and drop-off walls adorned with

displays of ancestor poles, drums, body masks, shields, daggers, and skulls; a reminder that cannibalism was practiced by the ancestors of some villagers.

Asmat woodcarvings are known for their powerful lines and coarse, expressive motifs, and are widely considered by collectors and scholars to be among the world’s finest. With our anthropologist helping you to communicate, you have the opportunity to purchase carvings directly from village artisans. myriad soft corals. Dense schools of blue-striped and yellow-tailed fusiliers are some of the 100 species of fish you may spot here.

DAY 4: Ternate.

Tiny volcanic Ternate is situated just west of Halmahera. This island was once, along with its neighbor Tidore, the only source of cloves in the world.

Caught between the tug of the Dutch and Portuguese for its spicy riches, Ternate offers fascinating cultural and historical sites including two impressive forts. After a stop at the local market, enjoy a traditional cultural performance.

DAYS 5 – 7: Raja Ampat.

More than 1,500 karst limestone islands make up the majestic archipelago of Raja Ampat. The marine environment here, known as the Bird’s Head Seascape, is heralded as the most biodiverse on earth and includes 75 percent of all known coral species and more than 1,220 types of reef fish. Spend three days enjoying this unsurpassed coral wonderland and the abundant marine life that calls it home. Birders go ashore to look for species such as the red bird of paradise, beach kingfisher, varied honeyeater, spice imperial pigeon, and singing starling in the dense forests.

DAY 8: Mommon Peninsula.

The spectacular Mommon Peninsula is covered in forest often veiled in wisps of cloud. A river empties into the sea as a beautiful waterfall and, if tides permit, you may land on a small nearby beach.

Snorkelling and diving reveal huge and colourful soft corals channels teeming with fish.

DAY 9: Aiduma Island.

This afternoon the ship drops anchor off Aiduma Island for snorkelling and diving in the aquamarine waters.

Dazzling soft coral “forests” teem with colourful reef fish, including dinner plate-sized blue-ring angelfish, six-bar angelfish, and lionfish.

DAY 10: At Sea – Agats, Papua.

Ten thousand square miles of mangrove forest, bamboo, and sago palms have long sheltered the Asmat region from outsiders. At high tide the ship enters the shallow channel of the Flamingo River to anchor for the night near the village of Agats.

DAYS 11 – 12: Asmat Villages.

A remote riverine world is revealed as Zodiacs carry you along narrow waterways lined with the entwined branches of thick mangrove forests, home to Torres Strait imperial pigeons, and bright red lorikeets. A voyage along the most interesting section of India’s coastline is the ideal way to see something of this magnificent land. Treat yourself to an Indian Tonic and join us aboard the wonderfully comfortable MS Island Sky, as we explore the coastline of southern India, from Chennai (formerly known as Madras) to the bustling city of Mumbai including some of Sri Lanka’s most fascinating and beautiful regions. After our exploration of Chennai, we sail the short distance to Sri Lanka which Marco Polo described as the finest island of its size in the world when he arrived there in 1265. After five days in Sri Lanka, we return to India and the city of Trivandrum on its southern tip.

DAY 9: Trivandrum, India.

Be on deck as we return to India and sail into the Keralan port of Trivandrum, a magical sight. Built over seven hills, the ‘city of the sacred serpents’ retains some of old Kerala’s ambience, with its pagoda shaped buildings, red-tiled roofs and narrow winding lanes.

DAY 5: Hambantota.

Today, choose to visit Kataragama, one of the three most important religious sites in Sri Lanka. This afternoon we will explore Bundala National Park, an internationally important wintering ground in Sri Lanka for migratory water birds, the highlight being flocks of Greater Flamingo. Alternatively, choose a full day option and visit Udawalawe National Park, home to around 400 elephants as well as water buffalo, sambar deer and the occasional leopard. En-route you can discover the Elephant Transit Home set up to rehabilitate orphaned elephants.

DAYS 10 – 11: Cochin.

Cochin is an extraordinary city with strong influences of Portuguese, Chinese, Arab, Dutch and British cultures still much in evidence today. Visits will include the serene Kerala backwaters at Alleppey where we will board a local boat cruise past palm fringed shorelines, lush fields, temples and thatched houses.

Discover Mattancherry Palace with its ornately decorated rooms including some marvellous ancient murals. We see the oldest European church in India, St Francis and the ruins of Fort Cochin. On our first evening we will enjoy a Kathakali performance onboard after dinner.

DAY 13: Goa. Whilst famous for her beautiful beaches, Goa offers wonderful architecture with a mixture of Hindu and Catholic styles, unique history, rich culture and pretty natural scenery. On our tour we will explore Old Goa with its fine Basilica of Bom Jesus and the neo classical Church of St Cajetan before continuing to a spice plantation where the cultivation of cardamom, chilli, cloves and coriander can be seen.

DAY 6: Galle.

Awake this morning in Galle where we will drive to witness the stilt fisherman off the coast at Koggala and also discover the Kataluwa Buddhist Temple. After lunch onboard explore colonial Galle and visit the 17th century Dutch Fort, the museum which is housed in an old Dutch house depicting life in the former colony and enjoy some free time to walk the narrow streets lined with traditional houses.

DAY 14: Mumbai.

Mumbai is a cluster of seven islands.

On an afternoon tour we will enjoy a tour of the city’s highlights driving past the prominent landmarks of the city and visiting the Gateway of India, Mani Bhavan, the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi, Iskon Krishna Temple and Dhobi Ghat where we can observe the vast open air Indian laundry.

DAY 15: Mumbai.

Norway’s immense fjords, abundant wildlife and timeless villages astound the traveller. DAY 3: Lofoten Islands.

The Lofoten Archipelago is an enchanting area of picturesque villages with jagged granite mountain peaks forming a dramatic backdrop. We will have a full day tour to explore including visiting Aa’s local museum and Sund’s blacksmith famous for its forged cormorants. We will enjoy lunch at the Viking centre at Borg, before visiting the gallery of local artist Kare Espolin Johnson.

around the island spotting the eider ducks and unique flora. In the early afternoon choose to walk to Mount Torghatten’s hole in the mountain, where we will explore one of the most famous landmarks on the Norwegian coast.

DAY 5: Trondheim.

Founded in AD 997 by Viking King Olav Tryggvason, Trondheim was Norway’s first capital city. We will visit the stunning 11th century Nidaros Cathedral before continuing to the Sverresborg Museum and then enjoying a panoramic view of the city from the Sverresli Viewpoint.

DAY 6: Runde, Veststeinen & Kinn Islands.

Be on deck early this morning as we cruise by the bird cliffs at Runde, one of the largest nesting cliffs in Norway and home to half a million birds. More than 240 different species have been observed here including puffins, gannets, razorbills and northern fulmar. At Veststeinen, we find 16,000 Atlantic Puffins which breed alongside shags, black legged kittiwakes, black guillemots and razorbills. In the late afternoon Zodiacs will bring us ashore to Kinn Island to explore this stunning green island on foot, home to only nine permanent residents.

DAY 7: Dalsfjord & Bygstad.

Dalsfjord lies at the heart of Western Norway. Today’s tour will take us through the gentle landscape and over to Sunnfjord with its magnificent waterfalls and mountains. Visit Sunnfjord Museum before taking a scenic drive to the region known as ‘the waterfall country’ stopping at

the Huldefossen and Likholefossen waterfalls and returning via Hestadfjord’s picturesque 19th century Hestad church.

DAY 8: Sognefjorden & Naerofjorden.

Sognefjorden, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord extends more than 200 kms inland and is surrounded by three national parks. Here we will see thundering waterfalls, glacier arms stretching down into green valleys and many small farms clinging to the mountainside. We may Zodiac cruise Naerofjorden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, considered to be one of the most dramatic fjord arms of Sognefjord.

DAY 9: Flam.

This morning we will embark on one of the most dramatic train rides in Europe, the Flam Railway. The train climbs up from sea-level to 867 metres over 20kms, crossing back and forth across rivers and through 20 tunnels as well as stopping at Kjosfossen Waterfall. Enjoy a little free time in Flam before we sail back along the scenic fjords. With the long, light evenings this is a perfect time to relax on deck after dinner and watch the world go by.

DAY 10: Hardangerfjord & Rosendal.

Arrive this morning in Hardangerfjord, the third largest fjord in the world.

We will drive along the fjord towards

Maurangerfjord, experiencing the idyllic scenery and farms on the way and viewing the magnificent Langfoss Waterfall. We will walk to Bondhus Lake which is surrounded by a fascinating landscape of fjords and mountains.

DAY 11: Lerwick, Scotland.

Wander through the narrow stone lanes of the Shetland Islands port town of Lerwick. You may wish to visit the excellent Shetland Museum, containing historical artefacts from the Neolithic period, Viking & whaling memorabilia whilst the Boat Shed showcases the islands’ important maritime heritage.

DAY 12: Handa & Tanera Mor. At Handa, we will use our Zodiacs to explore Handa’s magnificent sea cliffs dotted with seabirds. We then plan to sail down the coast to Loch Broom and the Summer Isles where we hope to land on the only inhabited island, Tanera Mor. On a guided walk enjoy the stunning views, look out for otters and seals and the prolific bird life. Stop at the unique post office, whose own rare stamps are much sought after by collectors.

Explore uninhabited St Kilda’s Medieval village, restored by the National Trust for Scotland. Also a National Nature Reserve, St Kilda is one of the only two dozen UNESCO World Heritage Sites with dual status reflecting its natural and cultural significance. Later, cruise past two of the largest gannetries in the world at Stac Lee and Boreray.

These impressive 170m high stacs are home to up to 60,000 breeding pairs of northern gannet.

DAY 4: Handa & Tanera Mor. Handa is one of the largest sea bird colonies in North West Europe with nearly 200,000 seabirds breeding here including guillemots, Arctic skuas and puffins. We will Zodiac cruise before sailing down the coast to Loch Broom and the Summer Isles where we hope to visit the only inhabited island, Tanera Mor. Look out for otters, seals and prolific bird life, or stop at the unique post office home to much sought after stamps.

DAY 4: Cagliari.

Explore this ancient city which dates back to the Phoenicians and Romans.

Drive to the ruins of Nora, where history can be viewed from Bronze Age Nuragic civilisations to Roman and Carthaginian. Later, stroll around the narrow streets of the old town of Cagliari and view the terraced Piazza del Palazzo and the 14th century cathedral of St Cecilia.

On Lipari we will find an amazing collection of ruins from the prehistoric through to the Roman period. A morning excursion includes a visit to the upper town set within fortress walls followed by a visit to the Archaeological Museum. This evening, we will sail past Stromboli, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

DAY 7: Giardini Naxos for Taormina, Sicily.

During our walking tour of Taormina we will explore its atmospheric alleys and admire the 15th century Palazzo Corvaja, before visiting the impressive Greek theatre built in the third century B.C.

DAY 10: Monopoli.

In Puglia the countryside is scattered with “trulli”, limestone dwellings built with dome or conical roofs. This morning sail through the Corinth Canal, the most dramatic passage in the Mediterranean. From Itea, we will drive through lush olive groves up to Delphi, where our visit begins at the Castalian Spring, erupting from the spot where Pegasus is said to have

struck his hoof. We will continue up the Sacred Way, passing the treasury of the Athenians, the temple of Apollo, the theatre and the ancient stadium, the best preserved in Greece.

DAY 3: Kefalonia.

The largest of the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia is immortalised in the novel Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Kefalonia’s reputation for wine dates backs to Homeric times and so, this morning, we will take the chance to visit one of the local vineyards for a wine tasting.

In Puglia the countryside is scattered with “trulli”, limestone dwellings built with dome or conical roofs. The highlight of the day for many will be meeting Nobel laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s former assistant Ma Theinghi, who will speak about recent events, Suu Kyi and her years in prison as a result of her activism.

DAY 10: At sea.

Today, attend one of the lectures preparing you for the underwater experiences which are to come.

DAY 11: Mergui Archipelago.

During the morning we will start our two days of exploration, diving and snorkelling in the Mergui Archipelago.

More than 800 islands spread out over 36 000 km² , the warm waters and great visibility make this a prime location for underwater activities.

Limestone rock pinnacles, fringing sloping reefs and hard coral reef gardens will not only attract fish but divers and snorkellers alike. The uninhabited Lampi is large enough to hold wild animals, including a small herd of elephants. With rainforest and a fringing coral reef, Lampi’s outstanding beauty is enhanced by spotting monkeys, hornbills and sea eagles.

DAY 12: Mergui Archipelago.

Ilulissat, encircled by icebergs, has retained a unique mix of traditional Arctic life, with multicoloured wooden houses, huskies and the leather tanners who still work today using the ancient methods of their ancestors.

DAY 11: Sailing Queen Maud Gulf.

At Cambridge Bay, today we can still see part of the hull of the Maud (Amundsen’s ship) breaking the surface, however a repatriation to Norway is envisaged.

DAY 12: Navigation inside Coronation Gulf and Duke of York Archipelago.

DAY 13: Holman.

The community of Holman (Ulukhaktok) has an international reputation for its traditional art.

During a long mapping expedition in 1826, Sir John Franklin was the first European to lay eyes on these unique places and their inhabitants, the Inuvialuit, the Nordic cousins of the Inuit. The Island has since served alternately as a whaling station, a relay station and a refuge for travellers.

Deep in Andvord Bay, we find this little corner of paradise at the foot of an immense glacier. Neko Bay is without doubt one of the most beautiful sights of the Antarctic Peninsula. Gentoo Penguins are abundant and exceptionally inquisitive. Marine mammals such as seals, orcas and whales are frequently seen. Zodiac excursions allow you to sail close to blue-tinged icebergs or disembark near colonies of penguins, observe leopard seals basking on the shore or watch Antarctic Terns flying overhead.

Initially it served as a relief and repair base for whalers, before becoming a British base in 1944. You will be able to visit the small museum that retraces what life was like on the base in the 1950s. This base has a little store and post office, it is the only place to offer you the opportunity to write to your friends and family and share this unique moment.

DAY 8: The Weddell Sea. A lengthy sail in the Weddell Sea will allow you to experience true silence and an extraordinary and enchanting atmosphere. You will discover a secret reserve of preserved treasure: Fur Seals, penguin colonies, and giant Petrels. Here the huge icebergs and the endless ice cap create a landscape beyond compare. The seal is a record breaker, able to remain submerged for more than an hour. It is recognisable by its dark grey

Or peruse the Central Market with a local guide and Orion’s head chef, tasting local specialties. ISLANDS OF THE INDIAN OCEAN 2017 Join our exploration of the islands and atolls of the Maldives and Seychelles, two of the world’s most picturesque archipelagos. With our purpose built Zodiacs we will land on otherwise inaccessible beaches, explore vast lagoons and coral reefs and encounter some of the most extraordinarily beautiful tropical scenery to be found anywhere in the world.

TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. Confirmation / Deposit Upon receipt of your booking, we will endeavour to book the tours or travel services requested by you as soon as possible and will then send you a Confirmation Invoice. You must then send us a deposit of 20% of the invoiced amount within 7 days. If bookings are made within 90 days of your date of travel, full payment must be sent immediately, and certainly within 7 days of Invoice date.

Notes: These deadlines may be brought forward depending on conditions of our operators or service suppliers. You must forward any medical questionnaires & contracts required by our operators & suppliers along with your deposit payment.

Please also send us a completed (& signed) Wild Earth Registration Form showing your acceptance of our standard Terms and Conditions.

2. Residual Payment Full payment must be received by Wild Earth Travel for all bookings no later than ninety (90) days prior to the commencement of travel (eg. the tour start date). If full payment has not been received by these due dates, then Wild Earth Travel reserves the right to cancel all travel services for the booking in question without further notice to the client. Provided full payment is received by this time, Wild Earth Travel shall take all steps necessary to reconfirm and verify all reservations in advance of the date of travel, as may be required by our operators & service suppliers.

3. Late & Minimum Bookings If bookings are made 15 days or less prior to the date of travel, then a Late Booking Fee of NZ$100 per file will be charged to offset administration costs. If the total invoiced amount of a client’s booking is less than NZ$300, then a Minimum Booking Fee of NZ$50 per file will be charged to offset administration costs.

4. Amendments (prior to date of travel) Within 60 days of date of travel, amendments to confirmed reservations will be handled on a request basis. An amendment fee of NZ$50 will be charged per amendment, plus any fees imposed by our operators & service suppliers. No amendments are permitted within 15 days of date of travel, or cancellation fees will apply.

5. Cancellations Cancellations must be notified in writing to Wild Earth Travel. Subsequent to cancellation, Wild Earth Travel will acknowledge to the client when all reservations have been cancelled and will refund monies to the client, less the following cancellation charges; Any cancellation received outside 120 days prior to date of travel, cancellation fee will be the deposit, plus any fees charged by our operators & service suppliers. Subsequent fees will be charged as follows; 120-91 days - 50% of invoice total; less than 90 days - 100% of invoice total.

The above figures are given as a guideline.

Actual cancellation fees may vary due to the level of charges passed on by our operators & suppliers, and due to irregular business conditions (eg. High Season special rates / cancellation rules). Any special conditions should be advised at time of booking.

Note: Upon commencement of travel, 100%

cancellation fees will apply for clients not utilising any travel arrangements, or for any no-shows – ie. No refunds will be available for any unused services. In some cases, clients may be able to transfer their booking to another departure date, but this will depend on availability, the nearness of the date of travel and on the conditions of our operators & suppliers. An administration fee may be charged in such circumstances.

6. Price changes Wild Earth Travel reserves the right to increase prices up to 20 days before the date of travel due to surcharges in supplier tariffs, transportation costs, fuel prices, currency fluctuations, local government rates & taxes. If the resultant price increase is 10% or greater, the client may cancel the booking within 14 days of our written notification of the surcharge and obtain a full refund.

7. Insurance It is the responsibility of all booked clients to obtain travel insurance to cover personal injury, medical expenses, third party risk, baggage loss / damage, and the cancellation / curtailment of travel. It is also recommended that insurance coverage be extended to include medical evacuation and / or repatriation. (On some tours this is compulsory). The cost of these can be high, especially from remote locations and will in no way be the responsibility of Wild Earth Travel. When obtaining insurance from a source other than Wild Earth Travel, the Client must ensure that the insurer is aware of the type of travel to be undertaken.

8. Travel Documents It is the responsibility of all booked clients to be in possession of all necessary travel documents, including a valid passport, visas, health / vaccination certificates and import licences. Clients should also make themselves aware of any official travel advice regarding their destination. Wild Earth Travel will not be responsible for any loss, of travel or otherwise, due to the client’s lack of information on restrictions / prohibitions imposed by governments, airlines or any other official organisation.

9. Health It is the responsibility of all booked clients to advise Wild Earth Travel of any health impairments, medical conditions or disabilities that might affect their ability to proceed with their travel. In certain cases, clients may be required to complete a medical questionnaire for Wild Earth Travel or any of its suppliers. We reserve the right to decline any client should their health, actions or behaviour affect the operation of tours or harm the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other clients.

10. Responsibility All services advertised by Wild Earth Travel are organised by us or our appointed suppliers. Wild Earth Travel, its affiliated companies and/or associated agents shall not be held responsible for any liability of property loss or damage and/or any damages resulting from illness, personal injuries or death which may be sustained for reason of, or while engaged on any tour, whether due to the ownership, maintenance, use, operation or control of any aircraft, vehicle, vessel or otherwise or whether caused by failure or delay or by any transportation company, due to any cause whatsoever including any acts or omissions occurring during a tour

under which the means of transportation or other service provided thereby is offered or supplied by its owners, operators or public carriers for whom Wild Earth Travel acts only as an agent. Wild Earth Travel shall not be held responsible for any injury resulting to a person (whether or not resulting in death) or damage to property arising out of any act of war, insurrection, revolt or other civil uprising or other military action, Acts of God, weather or any other circumstances over which Wild Earth Travel has no control, occurring in either the country of origin, destination or through passage. The transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not onboard their carriers or conveyances. The passenger contract in use by the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the transportation companies and the purchasers of these expeditions and/or passengers. If our suppliers/agents are able to exclude or limit liability by virtue of any international convention we will claim the benefit of that exclusion or limitation.

11. Data Protection Wild Earth Travel will store and use the personal data supplied by clients on their booking forms for the purposes of fulfilling the contract between us. We will never pass on your information to third parties, other than to fulfil the contract between us, without your written permission. We will also use the information to keep you informed of our services and any special deals which we think may be of interest to you. Please inform us at the time of booking if you do not wish us to use your information in such ways.

12. Successors and Assigns These terms and conditions shall inure to the benefit of and be binding upon Wild Earth Travel and the Client and their respective heirs, legal personal representatives, successors and assigns.

13. Errors and Omissions Although Wild Earth Travel has made a concerted attempt to verify the accuracy of statements made herein, it cannot be held responsible for any error, omission or unintentional misrepresentation that may appear in its brochures.

14. Claims and Complaints If dissatisfied with the travel services being provided, clients should immediately advise Wild Earth Travel or its local representative, preferably in writing. In such circumstances, we / they will do our / their utmost to rectify the matter. If an immediate solution cannot be found, clients should obtain written reports or other evidence to support their complaint and present these to the agent who booked their trip, who will then contact Wild Earth Travel.

Such complaints must be made within 30 days of the end of the tour. Wild Earth Travel will not accept any liability for claims received after this period.

15. Applicable Law and Choice of Forum This agreement shall be governed by New Zealand Law. Each party hereto irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand Courts in respect of any action or proceeding relating in any way to this agreement.
