SCHOOLS

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM: (PRESCHOOL, PREP-K, KINDERGARTEN)

Some of the most critical learning on the Heritage campus takes place in the brightly-colored preschool, prep-k, and kindergarten classrooms. It is there that our school’s youngest students are encouraged and equipped to explore art, music, and imaginative play, learn phonics and reading foundations, and develop critical thinking skills in a dynamic and cheerful environment.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: (GRADES 1-4)

Education is a continuous, lifelong process that begins with meeting crucial developmental milestones in elementary school. We have the privilege of partnering with families early on in their educational journey to provide a strong, biblically-based academic foundation in the formative years of childhood.

SCHOOLS

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL: (GRADES 5 & 6)

The intermediate school is designed to foster students in academic, emotional, social, and spiritual transition. Our teachers and staff guide our students through these transitional years by providing more curriculum offerings and extracurricular opportunities, by introducing academic routines, and by discipling students as they begin to develop and hone important leadership skills.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: (GRADES 7 & 8)

The middle school is a safe environment for students, opening the door for the academic, social, and spiritual growth that is so critical in these “in-between” years. Our faculty and staff offer a rigorous curriculum, integrate biblical principles in the classroom, and provide an individualized discipleship approach to their students’ needs. Students are provided with many opportunities to serve and lead, encouraging them to discover their unique gifts and talents.

RELATIONSHIPS Heritage Christian believes in placing an equal emphasis on academic excellence and relational discipleship. Our faculty and staff make it part of their mission to minister to students, both in and out of the classroom. They do this by challenging their students to see God’s work in light of their schoolwork, by mentoring students, and by building relationships with students and their families.

MOMENTS THAT BUILD RELATIONSHIPS • • • • • • • • •

Displaying a genuine interest in learning students’ stories Helping students work through personal challenges Stopping to pray with a student Staying after school to help a student understand a difficult concept Sending a note of encouragement Helping students identify their gifts and calling Challenging students to live counter-culturally Facilitating God-honoring conflict resolution Reminding students of their complete worth and value in God’s eyes

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT In addition to our academic rigor, what truly sets us apart and explains our success is our equally valued focus on transformational discipleship. We use God’s inerrant Word as our guide for how to disciple students holistically. Our “Teach, Mentor, Train” discipleship model puts definition to what Heritage has been doing from the beginning.

TEACH: Heritage was founded on the premise that the Bible is essential for all of life, including academics. As a result of this belief, we are very intentional about teaching our students the facts of the Bible, core doctrines, and principles of Christian living. These subjects are specifically taught in Bible classes and chapels, but we also integrate Bible teaching in all classroom environments. For one week each semester, intermediate and middle school students have chapel every day, which allows students to focus their attention for several days on our annual Spiritual Theme or a special topic.

MENTOR: All of our teachers are Christians who value the opportunity to educate in their subject area of expertise and help students grow in their faith in Christ. Teachers, coaches, and staff are intentional about building relationships with students. Doing so facilitates natural opportunities to teach character and leadership, model a Christian lifestyle, and train them to serve God and others.

TRAIN: Our classrooms, athletics, and extracurriculars provide opportunities for our students to develop leadership skills, identify their gifts, articulate the Gospel, and practice serving others. These opportunities are a direct result of our commitment to mentoring our students both in and out of the classroom.
