Henshaws Carols by Candlelight 24 Yorkshire Programme
Main Sponsor
Myrings are incredibly proud to sponsor this year’s Yorkshire ‘Carols by Candlelight,’ taking place at the prestigious Ripon Cathedral. It brings us great joy to support Henshaws and all of the amazing services they provide.
May we take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
WELCOME
On behalf of everyone at welcome to Carols by Candlelight.
Welcome to Henshaws’ first-ever carol concert at Ripon Cathedral! We hope you enjoy the performances, sing along with the carols, and leave with a warm glow and a smile. Don’t forget to join our raffle for a chance to win Ascot tickets, holiday vouchers, or other great prizes. Tickets are £2 each or £10 for a strip and you can buy as many as you like!
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, all the funds from our ticket and refreshment sales will go directly towards our services, so please be as generous as you can be, as your kindness will have a positive impact on the lives of those we help.
At Henshaws we are all about celebrating the achievements of blind, visually impaired, and disabled people, and living life to the full. As we look forward to the New Year, we’re excited to have launched our 12 days of giving appeal to fund our creative Arts and Crafts Centre workshops, so please turn to page ‘17’ to find out more about this exciting project, and all our services. For now, have a lovely evening, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Henshaws.
Stephen Tongue, Director of Fundraising
Please note that there will be internal and external recording and photography happening throughout the evening which may be used for future marketing purposes. If anyone does not want to be filmed or photographed, please make yourself known to a member of the Henshaws team. Thank You.

LITTLE DONKEY
Little donkey, little donkey, On the dusty road, Got to keep on plodding onwards, With your precious load.
Been a long time, little donkey, Through the winter’s night, Don’t give up now, little donkey, Bethlehem’s in sight.
Ring out those bells tonight, Bethlehem, Bethlehem, Follow that star tonight, Bethlehem, Bethlehem.
Little donkey, little donkey, Had a heavy day, Little donkey, carry Mary safely on her way.
Little donkey, little donkey, Journey’s end is near, There are wise men waiting for a Sign to bring them here.
Do not falter, little donkey, There’s a star ahead, It will guide you, little donkey, To a cattle shed.
Little donkey, little donkey, Had a heavy day, Little donkey, carry Mary safely on her way.

WE THREE KINGS
We three kings of Orient are; Bearing gifts, we traverse afar Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star.
CHORUS
O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain, Gold I bring, to crown Him again, King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign.
CHORUS
Frankincense to offer have I, Incense owns a Deity nigh. Prayer and praising all men raising, Worship Him, God most high.
CHORUS
Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume Breathes a life of gathering gloom; Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
CHORUS
Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and Sacrifice, Alleluia, Alleluia, Earth to the heav'ns replies.
CHORUS
AWAY IN A MANGER
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head; The stars in the heavens looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes. I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky and stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care, and fit us for heaven, to live with Thee there.
Every Saturday six numbers are selected at random, if you're a winner then your cheque will be posted directly to you
