Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and wellness industry, including fitness studios, gyms, and spas, have closed their doors to protect patrons from contracting and/or spreading the virus. The nature of these spaces presents a high risk of surface and airborne transmission, which makes implementing design strategies for infection control crucial for reopening. To help, our experts have developed guidelines to ensure customers feel safe in the spaces designed to optimize their health and wellbeing.

▪ HEPA filtration of HVAC

▪ Increase surface cleaning and increase availability to alcohol wipes

- Portable and standalone units are more feasible compared to retrofitting existing HVAC equipment ▪ UV lights in HVAC equipment - Install where a straight run can provide adequate dosage time ▪ UV lights in upper room areas - Install within specialty workout rooms ▪ Increase ventilation and ensure 100% OA to lockers - Many health and wellness facilities already have increased ventilation, evaluate ability to increase further - Provide branded masks for members
