A LETTER FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL

We’re so glad you are considering Lions Learning Academy. As you explore our viewbook, you will quickly see that LLA is unlike any special needs school you have ever seen before. This school was born from the firm conviction that Christian education is the best educational model to bring about lasting growth and true change in the life of a student, and that this life-changing model of education should be available to all students.

In this viewbook, you will get a glimpse of what makes LLA such an amazing academic home for your family. As you learn more about our cutting-edge education & therapy model, our one-to-one technology for all students, and our adaptable curriculum taught by extraordinary teachers, you will sense that this legacy of excellence has been carefully crafted by educators passionate about a truly Christian education.

We say it often at LLA – this is not merely our vocation…this is our calling! When a school is filled with teachers and administrators who have been called by God to serve kids and their families, it changes everything. From the moment you walk onto campus, you will sense a loving and inviting culture that is distinctly different. We would love for you to come for a visit so you can experience the LLA difference in person.

At the heart of this great school is the belief that our students can dig deeper, reach higher, and stretch further when they feel the embrace of supportive peers and the mentorship of Christian educators who know them and love them.

So let us welcome you to our campus to experience the warmth and strength of our community firsthand. That feeling is real — that is Lions Learning Academy!

fearfully & wonderfully made.

IDENTITY

The Hebron Way

Lions Learning Academy is a Christian school specifically designed for students who have cognitive and developmental disabilities and need a flexible learning environment specific to their needs.

We celebrate God’s unique design and rejoice in His goodness displayed in and throughout the lives of our students. We believe all students should be able to access learning in meaningful ways.

As a Christian school dedicated to excellence in special education, we are committed to supporting and ministering to each family, recognizing the distinct challenges that can be overwhelming and isolating. We aim to partner with our local churches to uplift and minister to the unique needs of the families we serve, embodying the love and compassion of Christ in every aspect of our school.

We offer small group communities for families of students with special needs, providing a safe and understanding space for support and connection. Through these groups, our families can form meaningful relationships, find encouragement, share their experiences, and find support from others who truly understand their journey. We provide spiritual opportunities such as prayer gatherings and Bible studies to nurture their faith and provide solace.

THERAPY

OVERVIEW

Physical

Occupational

As part of our specialized services, we work with families to build a schedule focusing on needs-based therapy and core academics. The school includes designated spaces for specialized therapy, including a speech room and a dedicated area for occupational and physical therapy exercises.

Lions Learning Academy prioritizes comprehensive education, including therapy services. We use a student-specific medical billing model and allocate a portion of tuition into each student’s dedicated therapy fund. While the fund contributes $3,500, medical billing is the primary funding source.

Inside an LLA Classroom

Take a step inside Lions Learning Academy to experience an environment of love, high expectations, and value where each student is seen, known, and understood. Our teachers are equipped to prioritize the significance of effective communication, fostering play, and embracing flexibility.

Our goal is to minimize barriers and maximize learning, going beyond required access, and provide support for all learners.

STUDENTS : TEACHERS

18 STUDENTS ENROLLED: INAUGURAL SCHOOL YEAR

Christ-Centered

In our classrooms, Christ is the foundation. Students are taught, encouraged, and loved by teachers and staff who see this as a calling, not just a job, and consider it a great joy to love like Jesus.

Sensory Awareness

Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to prioritize the sensory needs of our students. Soft lighting and natural wood furniture help regulate the sensory environment, while vibrant instructional materials add color and texture.

Visual Supports

We use visual schedules, social stories, and communication boards to provide students with clear visual cues and prompts. Colorcoded labels and visual cues are used to organize materials, resources, and storage areas, making it easier for students to find and access their materials independently.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Our daily schedule is designed to be flexible and supportive, creating a safe space for students to grow and develop a love of God and a love for learning. We incorporate visual aids such as schedules, timers, and picture prompts to help students understand and organize their day, with regular sensory breaks to support regulation and focus. Center time and enrichment time provide opportunities for flexible scheduling, allowing students to receive speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy services without missing core academics.

Using the best curriculum for educating students with a range of learning abilities, we follow a personalized approach to academic instruction, adapting to each student’s individualized needs. Students also focus on developing essential life skills, such as social skills, self-regulation, independence, and communication, which are crucial for success in school and in their community.

HCA partners with SAGE Dining Services to offer a fully catered lunch for every student and staff member. SAGE’s catered dining is included with tuition and is locally sourced with fresh, seasoned food and produce for the best culinary experience possible.

Students and staff are provided healthy meal choices and professionally planned dietary options for those with food allergies, food aversions, or other dietary restrictions. SAGE works closely with our team to understand our students and their needs. While we encourage exposure to new foods, we also understand some students may need to work toward this gradually.

Lions Learning Academy was established under Hebron Christian Academy, which is a covenant school. Our specific definition of a covenant school is that at least one parent/guardian (preferably both) of each student applicant must provide a credible, written testimony giving clear evidence of his/her personal faith in Jesus Christ and be active in a local church.

Educational Philosophy Covenant School

We stand, without reservation, on the absolute truth of the Holy Bible and seek to interpret all of life and learning from the basis of the principles set forth in God’s Word. These convictions provide the framework for our educational program. In this framework, students develop their intellectual, spiritual, physical, emotional, and social potential so that their lives will glorify God.

What You Can Expect

When your student’s application has been submitted, our screening committee will carefully review your materials. We will keep you informed about the receipt and completion of your application documents throughout the process. As a reflection of our individualized approach, the applicants selected to move forward in the admissions process will be scheduled for both a student and parent interview. This is a valuable opportunity for us to better understand your student and to discuss, in detail, the range of services and support we can provide.

SCHOLARSHIP Opportunities

Georgia Special Needs Scholarship

The Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (SB10) provides funds for K-12 private schools in the state of Georgia for students with an IEP or most students with a 504 plan.

Students who qualify are able to take the state portion of the education funding formula and use it at a K-12 private school approved by the Georgia Department of Education. Scholarship funds are only available for private school tuition and fees (e.g., they cannot be used for home school expenses or tutoring for students who are enrolled in the public school). Students must have attended one year of Georgia K-12 public school to qualify OR have attended a Georgia special needs preschool or received related services under an IEP.

LLA students received a $10,687 scholarship amount on average for the 2024-25 school year. Students are able to apply the full amount of what they are awarded. Our students’ scholarship amounts ranged from $9,291 - $19,184.

Families cannot apply specifically for a GOAL scholarship, but should follow the steps in place to apply for needs-based financial aid.
