In the pursuit of openness and transparency, there is already an overwhelming volume of data available to members and yet members are still sometimes saying to me that they do not know what is happening. It appears that members are tending to rely on the instant gratification of social media rather than the traditional outlets such as this magazine. Having been Commodore before (predating social media as we know it today) I know that communicating effectively is a perennial problem. Nevertheless, I have asked the General Committee and management to review the Club’s communications with a view to making them even more effective.

As you know, there was a Members’ Forum in September to review the new draft Articles of Association. There were 39 members in attendance. Fred Kinmonth Senior Partner, MinterEllison LLP, gave a briefing on the proposed changes; and this was followed by a healthy and constructive discussion. The next step (which should have been completed by the time that you read this) is to issue a revised draft for further consideration by members, the Department of Lands and the Home Affairs Bureau. After that, we (the General Committee) will then decide on the best timing for an Extraordinary General Meeting.

These last nine months have been eventful and satisfying for this General Committee. I am always amazed and impressed by how much work is done by both members and the staff; and this was brought home to me in reviewing the statistics and in attending the prize giving for the Typhoon Series, Bart’s Bash and Port Shelter Regatta.

寫這篇文章的時候，距離週年大會只剩下三星期，而距離二十四小時慈善 小艇賽則餘下不足兩星期了。關於二十四小時慈善小艇賽，本年度計劃了 一連串新措施，我亦相信活動將會訂立新標準。 為了追求公開及透明，大量資料已向會員發放，但會員有時候仍然會跟我 說他們並不知道最近有甚麼事發生，似乎他們較依賴即時發放信息的社交 媒體，而非傳統的訊息渠道（例如這本雜誌）。以往我曾擔任會長一職( 早於我們熟悉現在的社交媒體之前) 我知道有效的溝通是長存的問題。我 已經吩咐執行委員會及管理層審視會所的溝通渠道，並給予意見，希望令 這些渠道更行之有效。

At the time of writing this article, the Annual General Meeting is just three weeks away, and the 24HR Charity Dinghy Race is less than two weeks away.

Regarding the 24HR Charity Dinghy Race, there is a whole raft of new initiatives planned and I believe that this year’s event will set new standards.

The Sun Hung Kai Scallywag Foundation is a partnership between Sun Hung Kai, Sailability and the Club. This partnership has matured with the joint signing of a memorandum, the delivery of three dedicated dinghies, and the training of around 60 sailors since May 2019.

We have made good progress on a long list of items (some not very visible to members), and I urge you to read the various reports in Hebe Jebes to find out more.

Seawall: good progress has been made, and the Site Investigation (SI) report has now been submitted to the Building Department (BD) for BA14 approval. Our engineering consultant, Aecom, will undertake the design of the new seawall.

Marina Pile Extension/Replacement Project: having completed the ground investigation works (Stage 1), Aecom, the project consultant, has now issued its design recommendations (Stage 2). The consultant recommends building additional piles (which would have enough load-bearing capacity to support the entire pontoon and vessels moored to it) to be located adjacent to the existing piles and to extend the existing piles (which would then no longer need to be load-bearing).

We are engaged in further consultation and clarification regarding all loading calculations, the location of the proposed additional piles and indications of a ballpark costing before moving into Stage 3: the detailed design. Stage 4 will be the construction of the new seawall. This has been a lengthy process, but one on which we are making great progress.

General Utility Survey: is now completed, and provides detailed plans of underground utilities for all future works at the Club to help contractors avoid damaging any subterranean utilities.

Access Lift Platform and Fire Services Engineering: after detailed consultation with the Authorised Person, Carmen Chan, and the Fire Services’ Engineering Consultant, Arup, we are recommending a strategy to ensure the garden bar is fire safety compliant and to seek approval from the Buildings Department for the design of the access lift. We will submit the plans for the gaseous fire suppression system (namely, FM200) to obtain approval for that from the BD. If approved, this will hopefully avoid the need to build costly water tanks for a water-based sprinkler system. The BD will likely take 1 – 2 months for approval, followed by approval from the FSD, which may take slightly longer.

Once approved, we will then submit the amended plans for the new access lift.

After we have BD and FSD approval, the next step would then be getting the structural design work done, get this approved by GenCom and then put the package to tender for construction.

HAB ‘Expression of Support’ to Lands Department: we have now finalised all required content to be submitted to the Lands Department (LD). A preliminary meeting will be arranged with the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) representative to ascertain if the compiled data is sufficient for the HAB’s requirements for it to give support to future infrastructure plans.

The lift will most likely be located near the existing corridor that runs to the general office (underneath the balcony). A slight modification to the balcony may be required to facilitate this. The doors of the proposed lift will purposefully open facing the Club, not the carpark, to limit the chances of excited children (or older kids) running directly out of the lift and into the carpark.

In connection with such works, which have now been ‘in progress’ for almost a decade, we have also received a request from the Home Affairs Bureau regarding the Club (Safety of Premises) Ordinance Cap. 376 and have responded accordingly.

Project Office: to help accommodate contractors during club building works, we have now produced plans for a two-storey simple-build site office (50 sqm per floor). Aecom will manage the process of design and installation of this at the appropriate time and in conjunction with the seawall project.

BART’S BASH REGATTA 2019

There are inherent risks in sports, and sailing is no exception. Tragically, British sailor Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson*, died on 9 May 2013 when his catamaran capsized on San Francisco Bay during training for the 34th America’s Cup. In his memory, and organised by the Andrew Simpson Foundation, Bart’s Bash has become an annual global programme of sailing events, recognised

by Guinness World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race’.

This year it was held around the world on 14 and 15 September 2019.

The Hebe Haven Yacht Club participated again, organising a fun programme of events and raising funds for Sailability Hong Kong. The programme included dinghy racing, a resail for the Crew Helm/Ladies Helm Race 2019 and one-

design J80 fleet racing with six participating crews—four from China along with the Hebe Dragons and Dad’s Army teams on Baring Asia 1 and 2.

Scheduled for an 1100 start, the Race Officer, Nigel Slattery, assisted by Team Temujin, were obliged to postpone racing due to a lack of wind and, as a consequence, a lack of participants (who were still struggling to get to the start area).

Fortunately, with a developing four-knot breeze, the 46 dinghies comprising 16 Optimists, 10 Hansa 303s, seven Picos, seven 2.4mRs and six RS Quests were given a downwind start at noon heading straight back to the finish line at the pontoons in front of the HHYC clubhouse.

The J80s finally got away at 1300 on the first of their intended six two-lap windward/leeward races, heading for a windward mark at 140 degrees and 0.6nm from the committee boat. This was followed by a second race at 1350.

Meanwhile back at the HHYC, once the dinghy fleet arrived, a ribbon cutting and signing ceremony were held with the launch of three Hansa 303s donated by the Sun Hung Kai (Scallywag) Foundation. Lee Seng Huang, Group Executive Chairman of SHK and David Witt, skipper of Scallywag were on hand to officiate with Lee wetting the bows of each boat with champagne as they were named Jelly Fish, Star Fish and Sun Fish, in memory of Scallywag’s crew member John Fisher** lost overboard during the Volvo Ocean Race 2017–18. The names were the result of a SHK Facebook competition.

Fortunately the breeze continued to strengthen and, at 1400, seven big boats set off, on Course 30 in seven to eigth

knots, competing in the Crew Helm/Ladies Helm Race 2019 resail. Six of the seven entries competed in both events including Blu, Bits & Pieces, Ichiban, Jibulai and Windseeker, all helmed by women who were not skippers of their boat, while Raptor only entered the Crew Helm and Ricochet only competed in the Ladies Helm. After sailing eight nautical miles around Table, Bay and Table again, it was Kay Patterson on Bits & Pieces who claimed line and handicap honours in both with Jibulai 2nd. Windseeker finished 3rd in the Crew Helm race and Ricochet 3rd in the Ladies Helm.

After being served lunch on the water, the J80s completed a further two races. In Race 3, the women on Jelik 6 Team Faith were in 5th place rounding the top mark but, having hoisted their white kite, overtook two competitors to finish 3 rd. After four races, the overall series went to Jazz Team Jam, with Jelik 6 Team Faith 2nd and Baring Asia 1 Hebe Dragons 3 rd. The event forms part of the Greater Bay Youth Series including regattas in Guangdong and Macau.

所有運動都有潛在的風險，帆船運動亦不例外。二零 一三年五月九日，英國船員 Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson* 正為第三十四屆美洲盃帆船賽於舊金山灣訓練。但他 於航駛時，雙體船不幸翻沒罹難。 為了紀念巴特， 由 Andrew Simpson 基金所舉辦的巴特狂歡帆船賽 成為了年度全球帆船盛事，並由健力士世界紀錄列為 「最大規模的帆船賽事」。 今年，即二零一九年的九 月十四至十五日，這項帆船界盛事在全球舉行。

The prize-giving was held back at the Garden Bar where David Witt made the awards. Only overall prizes were presented for the dinghies. Mason Wilkinson (Optimist) finished 3 rd in the first race, Leo Purdie (Hansa 303) 2 nd and Fabel Liauw (Optimist) 1 st .

Unfortunately, in Race 2, Optimist sailor Seb van Ommeren’s 2 nd place award was presented to the wrong person (later sorted out), while Optimist sailors Vianney Lacouture and Peter Jessop finished 3rd and 1st respectively.

白沙灣遊艇會再次參與巴特帆船賽，舉行了一系列有 趣的活動，並為航能香港籌款。活動包括小艇賽、 2019 年船員掌舵 / 女舵手賽的重賽，以及有六位船 員參與的一體式 J-80 艦隊比賽，當中四位來自中國， 加上 Baring Asia 1 及 2 號船的白沙灣龍隊和爸爸船 隊。 活 動 在 早 上 十 一 時 正 開 始， 比 賽 主 持 是 Nigel Slattery，助手是 Team Temujin。由於當時的風力不 足，導致參賽者人數不足 ( 參賽者們仍想方設法前往 起點區域 )，主持人被逼延遲賽事。

The day proved a great success and all involved at the Club are to be congratulated in organising a really fun day on and off the water with some HK$52,000 raised for Sailability Hong Kong—a fitting tribute to the sailors John Fisher and Andrew Simpson.

幸運地，四節微風逐漸形成。四十六艘小艇由十六艘 Optimist、十艘 Hansa 303、七艘 Pico、七艘 2.4mR 及六艘 RS Quest 所組成，在中午時分的順風下啟航， 直接向著白沙灣遊艇會會所前的浮橋終點線駛回。 在下午一時，J-80 最終開展六輪比賽中的首輪兩圈 迎風 / 背風比賽，朝著距離委員會船 140 度及 0.6 納 米的迎風標誌航行。第二輪比賽將緊隨其後，下午一 時五十分舉行。

*Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson MBE (1976 – 2013) Olympic gold and silver medallist in the Star Class at the Beijing 2008 and London Olympics 2012, representing GBR, died on 9 May 2013 after a capsize of the catamaran on which he was crewing while training in San Francisco Bay for the 34th America’s Cup **John Fisher, aged 48 British born, but living in Adelaide, Australia, ‘Fish’ was knocked overboard on 26 March 2018 during Leg 7 of the Volvo Ocean Race (Auckland to Itajai, Brazil). After an extensive search in severe conditions—winds of between 35 and 45 knots, 4- to 5-metre seas and a temperature of 9oC, he was declared lost at sea some 1,400 nautical miles west of Cape Horn in the Southern Ocean.

Finally, 43 of the original 46 dinghies returned to the start area for their second race but, in view of the lateness, set off at 1600. Instead of rounding Shelter Island they rounded the leeward mark of the J80 course just 50 metres in front of the committee vessel and headed back to the finish line at Hebe Haven Yacht Club. Unfortunately, not everyone had taken notice of the change of course and headed off towards Shelter Island.

Bart's Bash a thank you

嘩！我們剛在白沙灣遊艇會渡過了多麼美好的一天！ 我們的巴特狂歡帆船賽 2019 的各方面能夠圓滿舉行， 要感謝的人實在太多。昨天的這項活動是真正的遊艇 會及社區活動……我們在白沙灣遊艇會成功營造出這 麼好的氣氛。 負責 Hebe One 起航線、早上第一輪的 46 艘小艇賽， 以及當天下午的另外 43 艘小艇賽的 Nigel、Joseph、 Peter、Rachel 和 Cynthia，你們做得非常好。四艘 J80 青年龍骨船聯賽、六艘 J80 龍骨船與四隊大陸 團 隊 Windrider、Viking、Jam 及 Faith 的 比 賽， 還 有我們的白沙灣青年船隊及一隊爸爸團隊都玩得很盡 興…… 由 Bits & Pieces 主導航程的船員掌舵賽 / 女 舵手賽亦是很棒的島嶼航線。 兩項船賽最終在白沙灣遊艇會作結，遊艇會的小艇拉 力賽終點線場景壯觀。Catherine、Sara、 Connie 和 Jane 在兩項賽事均取得佳績，非常好。

Wow! What a day we just had at HHYC! There are so many people to thank who made our Barts Bash 2019 event so successful in so many ways. The event was a real club and community event yesterday. We created such a great vibe at HHYC. Nigel, Joseph, Peter, Rachel and Cynthia did a great job running the Hebe One start lines and races for the 46 dinghies in Race One in the morning, then another 43 dinghies for all the afternoon sailors later in the day. The 4 x J80 Youth Keelboat League races for the 6 x J80s racing with the four mainland teams, Windrider, Viking, Jam and Faith, plus our Hebe Dragons youth team and a dads team had great fun. The Crew Helm/Ladies Helm race was an excellent island course with Bits & Pieces dominating proceedings.

The club finish line for the dinghy passage races was a great scene of boats finishing at Hebe for both races.

Well done Catherine, Sara, Connie and Jane for making the results for both races.

We launched 3 x new Hansa 303 dinghies at lunch time, and a special mention to Mr Lee from Sun Hung Kai and David Witt, skipper of Yacht Scallywag for doing our official launch. Thanks to Witty for also handing out all the prizes at the end of day prize-giving. It was great for the sailors to interact with you, especially the junior sailors at the Club and from the Hebe Dragons.

Sailability HK was a huge part of the day. We were fundraising for them and managed to raise over HKD 50,000 for the charity. A big thank you to everyone for your donations and entry fees.

HHYC Bart’s Bash Regatta (incl. Crew/Ladies Helm Races)

Building on last year’s success we saw six divisions racing this year in this busy charity event. Mr Lee Seng Huang from Sun Hung Kai and David Witt from Scallywag attended the day, launching the newly purchased Scallywag Sailability dinghies and handing out prizes at the end of the day. Sailability were also the worthy beneficiaries of all monies raised by this event. With over HKD58,000 being raised, Sailability would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed.

Temujin's bowman calls for water in Race 3

The Sportsboats followed at 1215, and at 1220 the 13-strong HKPN fleet powered over the line and tacked to a top mark 100 metres short of the IRC mark.

Sadly, at the top mark, Jibulai and the J80 Baring Asia 1 were involved in collision. Baring Asia 1 lost its rig and both boats duly retired.

Conditions before the start of the Hebe Haven Yacht Club’s Port Shelter Regatta 2019 were very exciting. In fact, more than the 25 knots blowing from the north could have posed problems for the smaller boats and less experienced crews who would have struggled to complete the scheduled islands courses for Race 1. But, as the 1400 start approached on Saturday, 21 September 2019, the wind eased to an ideal 12 knots for the two entries in IRC A and six in IRC B. Zannekin and Ambush led the boats through the Kau Sai Chau passage on their respective courses (35 and 36).

This time it was Ambush first home in IRC A as Zannekin did not start. Second over the line was Mandrake III (which had missed the first day’s racing). In IRC B, Talkinghead put in a determined performance to take line honours and, in HKPN, Generations, with its long waterline, was first home.

Catch 22 again excelled in the Sportsboats.

Anxious to keep momentum and benefit from the wind, Race Officer Bridget Chan started Race 3 for IRC A at 1320. IRC B, along with the Sportsboats, got their start for Race 3 at 1350. This just shows how quickly the boats were getting around their two-lap courses!

At 1410, the 13-strong HKPN division crossed the line, following the faster boats past the historic church on Yim Tin Tsai and into the strait between Tai Tau Chau and High Island Reservoir. They sailed Course 37.

Five minutes later, at 1355, HKPN had a very lively start with Bits & Pieces narrowly missing Authority, and Authority narrowly missing the committee boat!

With the wind dropping, the RO decided to finish the boats off Steep Island. First home in IRC A was Zannekin, in IRC B, Juggerknot, in Sportsboats, Catch 22, and in HKPN, H30.

After an exhilarating day’s racing, most of the boats headed back for the prize-giving in the Garden Bar of the Hebe Haven Yacht Club.

The next day, Sunday, 22 September 2019, conditions were again exciting as 22 boats assembled in Port Shelter for two windward/leewards. Under clear blue skies with white horses on the water, the IRC A and B boats crossed the line at 1210 in 20 knots of wind, and made for a mark in the direction of Sai Kung.

On handicap, deserved IRC A winner of the Port Shelter Regatta 2019 overall was Ambush with Mandrake III as runner-up.

In IRC B, Calamansi won the regatta on handicap, with Talkinghead in 2nd and Goddess 3rd.

In Sportsboats, consistency won Catch 22 the regatta overall, followed by Fly By Wire and Ricochet.

In the hotly contested HKPN division, overall honours went to the determined Bits & Pieces, followed by Port Shelter stalwart, Temujin, and a quiet yet impressive Generations.

After the presentations, and a delicious buffet, it was a convivial gathering around the Club’s monitor to watch England play Tonga in the Rugby World Cup.

輪 比 賽 開 始。 而 IRC B 巡 航 船 級 以 及 Sportsboats 型帆船的第三輪比賽則在一 時五十分開始。可見船隻圍繞兩圈航道的 速度是多麼的快！

Baring Asia 1 approaches Race 1 start

牛尾海帆船賽 2019 二零一九年白沙灣遊艇會牛尾海帆船賽開始前的天 氣狀況非常刺激。當時吹著每小時超過 25 海哩的 強烈北風，對小船及經驗較淺的船員帶來不少阻 礙，船員要花更多氣力完成第一輪比賽所預定的環 島航線。幸運的是，在二零一九年九月二十一日， 星期六，下午二時的比賽開始前，風力緩和至每小 時 12 海哩，對兩隊 IRC A 巡航船級的參賽隊伍及六 隊 IRC B 巡航船級的參賽隊伍來說是理想的風力。 Zannekin 及 Ambush 帶領各船在航道 (35 和 36) 駛 過滘西洲賽段。 五分鐘後， 比賽主持人 Nigel Slattery 把航道 36 給 予三艘 Sportsboats 型帆船使用。 下午二時十分，13-strong HKPN 船隊越線， 跟隨較 快的船隻駛過鹽田仔一間歷史悠久的教會，進入大頭 洲及萬宜水庫中的海峽。他們航行於航道 37 上。 隨著風力下降，比賽主持人決定把船停在青州。IRC A 巡航船級中首先回航的是 Zannekin，IRC B 巡航 船級是 Juggerknot， Sportsboats 型帆船是 Catch 22， 而 HKPN 組別帆船是 H30。

翌日，二零一九年九月二十二日，星期日，天氣狀況 同樣刺激，22 艘船在牛尾海聚集，等候進行兩場順 風 / 逆風比賽。藍天白雲下，海面有白浪，IRC A 及 B 巡航船級船隻在十二時十分越線， 在西貢方向作標 記，當時的風速是每小時二十海哩。

五 分 鐘 後，HKPN 帆 船 組 別 在 下 午 一 時 五十五分啟航時非常熱鬧。Bits & Pieces 差點錯過了 Authority …而 Authority 差 點錯過了委員會船！ 經過一整天令人振奮的比賽，大部分船隻 回航參與在白沙灣遊艇會花園酒吧舉行的 頒獎禮。 在讓分制度賽中， Ambush 眾望所歸，成 為 IRC A 巡航船級 2019 牛尾海帆船賽的 總贏家，第二名是 Mandrake III。

隨 後，Sportsboats 型 帆 船 在 十 二 時 十 五 分 越 線， 13-strong HKPN 艦隊則在十二時二十分衝線，並在 距離 IRC 巡航船級標記約一百米處作標記。

在 IRC B 巡航船級，Calamansi 在帆船賽 的讓分賽中取勝，Talkinghead 獲得第二 名，Goddess 獲第三名。

HHYC SAILING CALENDAR 2020 Welcome to our new Hebe Haven Sailing calendar 2020.

Life is for Sailing! Please support our young and up and coming sailors in competing locally and abroad by buying our new calender for 2020.

We have the most amazing team of young sailors leading the way in our local sailing events and overseas. That’s 40 children in four sailing squads plus all the school sailing programmes of over 100 children learning to sail, with the opportunity to go on and join a team and learn to race.

We are very proud here at Hebe Sail Training Centre and could not be more delighted to support many more future events in the coming years.

I would like to say a big thank you to Elaine, Lizzie and Steph for your time and patience in contributing all your hard work and ideas to make this project happen.

If having fun is an essential part of Bart’s Bash, then safety is paramount. At the Hebe Haven race it was a hot sunny day, so announcer Rob Allen exhorted everyone to wear a hat, apply sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Once onboard their yachts, the sailors were towed to the start area but there was no need to rush because the race could not start due to a lack of wind. In the meantime, instructors and volunteers in the safety boats ensured the sailors were ok and replenished with water.

Race officials eventually decided there was enough wind to start a race, but they would not use the designated course. Instead, the sailors would race back ‘home’ to the Hebe Haven clubhouse.

The yachts gradually came together in a line. There were J80s, Hansa 303s, RS Quests, 2.4mRs and Picos all lining up together. After flag and sound signals, they were away—the line slowly breaking up as the leaders forged ahead and the race was on!

Para sailor Pik Chi Yeung commented how unusual it was to sail a race downwind only, with no upwind section to the morning race. He loves being part of the world community of sailing and has represented Hong Kong in international sailing events in Japan, Australia and Spain and looks forward to joining Bart’s Bash every year because it connects him with the world sailing community.

BIGGEST SAILING EVENT OF 2019

On 14 September, Sailability Hong Kong hosted Hong Kong’s participation in the biggest and most inclusive event of the sailing calendar!

Bart’s Bash is the largest mass participation sailing event in the world. It is named after Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, MBE, the Olympic sailor who died on board the Artemis in 2013 aged just 36. The Foundation that bears his name encourages as many people as possible to participate in sailing, catering for all backgrounds and all physical and educational abilities. Bart’s Bash exudes this spirit.

Races are run by local sailing clubs and groups all over the world. Since its founding in 2014, over 70,000 sailors from 81 countries have taken part, and the event also raises funds for local sailing projects.

By 9.00 am there was a palpable buzz of anticipation in the air as the Garden Bar was crowded with competitors. Sailability’s Saturday sailors, para sailors in wheelchairs and sailors from clubs all over Hong Kong made a vibrant and colourful picture with everyone pleased to be taking part in the big day.

One race for able bodied, physically disabled para sailors and intellectually disabled participants. Sailing is perhaps unique in its power to bring together people of all backgrounds so they can compete on an equal footing.

The race was the first time volunteer Connie had attended a sailing race and she was impressed by the wide range of people who participated. She shared, “The event debunked my preconception about sailing in Hong Kong which is typically perceived to be exclusive most of the time. The level of inclusion and the wide range of people taking part was very encouraging.” She continued, “It included locals, mainland Chinese and people of many other countries, of all ages and different backgrounds.

There was a convivial spirit and people made a good effort to welcome and engage me as a newcomer.”

After the morning race at Hebe Haven there was a ceremony to launch three new yacht’s donated to Sailability by the Scallywag Foundation. Following short speeches by Mike Rawbone of Sailability and David Witt, the captain of Scallywag, the launch was conducted by Mr. Lee of Sun Hun Kai who did the honours pouring champagne over the bows of each new boats—Jelly Fish, Star Fish and Sun Fish. Everyone agreed the boats looked particularly eye-catching with their dark red livery. The new boats were sailed in the races on the same afternoon.

By the end of the day, HKD 58,800 was raised for Sailability Hong Kong—a wonderful total and huge thanks to everyone who donated. Also, thanks to everyone who took part in the races or volunteered in any capacity. This was a day for coming together, sailing together and having fun together—and Hebe Haven did it in awesome style!

For those who were unable to attend HHYC on 14 September, a well-attended boat launch ceremony took place for three new colourful Hansa 303 Dinghies at 1.00 pm, just prior to the start of the Bart’s Bash afternoon race.

未能在九月十四日蒞臨白沙灣遊艇會的各位，當日 下午一時舉行，在巴特狂歡帆船賽的下午賽事開始 之前，舉行了有非常多人參與的三艘全新色彩繽紛 的 Hansa 303 小艇下水禮。

These dinghies were provided by the Sun Hung Kai (Scallywag) Foundation to Sailability for them to provide the opportunity for under-represented youth to have an introduction to sailing. For many, this will be the first time they have been in a sailing dinghy. After a few lessons and for those who wish, these youngsters will then be able to progress to a formal HKSF Level 1 & 2 qualification and beyond via the HHYC STC.

這些小艇由新鴻基 (Scallywag) Foundation 提供，讓 航能可以為弱勢青年提供一個接觸帆船運動的機會。 對很多人來說，這是他們首次身處小艇上。 數堂帆 船課後，這些年輕人如果有興趣的話，將可以透過 白沙灣遊艇會的帆船訓練中心繼續學習並晉升至香 港帆船運動總會正式的第一及第二級資格，甚或取 得更高級資格。

Attended by Mr. Lee (CEO of Sung Hung Kai), David Witt (skipper of ‘Scallywag’) and Rob Quinliven (Group Chief Financial Director), the three boats were named ‘Star Fish’, ‘Sun Fish’ and ‘Jelly Fish’. Sun Hung Kai ran a Facebook competition to name the boats. The winner chose names relating to John Fisher who sadly was lost overboard in the 2018 Volvo Race. Most appropriate.

李 先 生 ( 新 鴻 基 的 行 政 總 裁 )， David Witt ( Scallywag 的船長 ) 以及 Rob Quinliven ( 集團首席財 務總監 ) 出席三艘小艇下水禮。三艘船命名為「Staff Fish」、「Sun Fish」及 「Jelly Fish」。 新鴻基在 Facebook 發起船隻命名比賽，優勝者把船名取為與 John Fisher 相關的名字。John 於二零一八年富豪環 球帆船賽時不幸落水去世， 作為對他的紀念，這三 個船名實在是最適合不過了。

To date, 66 youth members have taken part in the programme, despite the awful weather during late June, July and early August. The programme is scheduled to increase its momentum as we go forward.

儘管六月尾，七月及八月初時的天氣惡劣，但直至 今天已有六十六名年輕成員參與這項帆船計劃。持 續發展下去，預料計劃亦會增加成員的數量和擴大 規模。

A brief reminder that it is our 10 th Anniversary on Saturday, 23 November 2019. Yes, it has already been 10 years since the first four sailors from the Nesbitt Centre came to HHYC and sailed in Bahia’s. Two of these (Alexandra Jones and Greig Carruthers) remain with us today and sail every Saturday.

溫馨提示各位二零一九年十一月二十三日星期六是 航能成立十週年。 沒錯，最初從思拔中心來到白 沙灣遊艇會，於巴希雅海灣航行的四名船員，轉 眼已是十年。其中兩位 (Alexandra Jones 和 Greig Carruthers) 至今仍然和我們一起在每個星期六航 行。

We have a small celebration planned in the HHYC Garden Bar to which we will invite the mums, dads and/ or guardians of our sailors during the morning with an invitation to go out on ‘Hebe One’ and witness the progress their daughters and sons have made since joining Sailability.

我們打算在白沙灣遊艇會的花園酒吧舉行小型慶祝。 屆時我們會邀請船員的媽媽、爸爸，及 / 或監護人 在早上乘坐 Hebe One 外遊，見證子女參與航能後的 進步和成長。

During the afternoon, we have invited representatives of our various sponsors to join us for a celebration of our achievements over the years and for us to say a huge ‘thank you’ for making this all possible. We also have a new video to show and another one or two from the time of our original start up on the water!

The day will start at 11.00 am and finish at 4.30 pm.

It is more than appropriate to take this opportunity to thank HHYC, GenCom (past and present), HHYC Staff and members as well as our hardworking volunteers for all the support they have provided over the years. We have now had over 2,100 different sailors join our programmes, many of whom come back repeatedly. We are now also in the top 10 busiest RYA Sailability Centres worldwide—an achievement second to none in Asia. We are still volunteer led, have won six international medals for Hong Kong and we continue to grow with a number of new programmes due to commence later this year and next.

You have all made this possible and together we have made a difference and changed lives. A huge thank you to everyone.

At the beginning of August, me and my teammates went to Canada and joined the Laser 4.7 World Championships. I was excited even though there were many good sailors from different countries and they all did well. I tried hard and I almost got in the gold fleet. Although the wind was shifty and unstable, I strived to work on the wind shifts and I ended at a good position in sliver fleet. I want to thank the Club, the Hebe Dragons team and our team leader Iris who took care of us. I really enjoyed the event and learned a lot of things. It was an unforgettable journey in Canada, and I will never forget it.

LASER 4.7 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS William Tsui

I am so glad to have had an opportunity to join the Laser 4.7 World Championships in Kingston, Canada.

The conditions were stronger compared to Hong Kong—strong winds and more waves. This was the first time I participated in an overseas international laser regatta. I was so excited during this grand event.

The trip to Canada was wonderful. The conditions were beautiful, the breeze was strong and the waves were big. I felt like I improved a lot from the two-week training before and during the regatta, especially on my decision-making and starting skills.

I met a lot of new friends from all over the world, including some Olympic coaches and sailors. In the end I got a great 42nd in gold fleet which I feel proud of. A really big thanks to Iris our team leader, coach Alfy and other parents who came along.

Also a great thank you to the Club for their support and the Hebe Dragons team. Overall it was a great experience and I can’t wait for my next Worlds!

I have learned lots more skills and tactics to tackle these kinds of conditions. Moreover, during the regatta we faced different kinds of wind—sometimes they were light and sometimes strong. One day it even even came up to 25 knots. Therefore now, I am able to handle strong winds easily after this regatta.

Although I didn’t get good results overall, the most important thing is that I met new sailors from all over the world and improves a lot in sailing.

Last but not least, I want to thank all the people who made this trip possible—Hebe Haven Yacht Club, HKSF President Mr Tong Shing, Eileen Sze, my parents, Alfred and all the local coaches that took care of us. I also wantot thank all the sailors that made this whole event so much fun.

The Laser 4.7 World Championships was a great experience for me. Even though I didn’t manage to get a good result in the event, I still gained a lot of important things from the event.

It provided me with a chance to compete with the best around the world and to meet some amazing people. I also learned some new skills about sailing. 加拿大旅程很美好。天氣狀況很好，風力強，海 浪亦大。我覺得自己從之前的兩星期訓練及帆船 賽中進步很多，尤其是我的決策及啟航技巧。我 認識來自世界各地的新朋友，包括一些奧運教練 及船員。最後我在金隊獲得第 42 名，對此我十 分自豪。感謝我們的隊長 Iris、教練 Alfy 及其他 陪同前往的家長。我亦十分感謝遊艇會的支持， 以及白沙灣龍隊。總括而言，這是一個很好的經 歷，我非常期待我的下一場世界賽 !

我很高興能夠參與在加拿大京士頓舉辦的激光 4.7 世界錦標賽。和香港相比，當地的天氣狀況更強 烈，—有強風及更多湧浪。這是我第一次參與海 外的國際激光帆船賽。身處這項盛事當中，我非 常興奮。 我學習到更多應對這些天氣狀況的技巧和策略。 再者，在帆船賽時我們面對不同種類的風勢—有 時候是微風，有時候是強風。其中一天，風速甚 至到達 25 節。因此參與這項帆船賽後，現在的我 能輕易駕馭強風。雖然我最後沒有獲得好成績， 但最重要的是我認識來自世界各地的船員，而且 航行技巧進步不少。 最後，我想多謝促成這趟旅程的人：白沙灣遊艇 會，香港帆船運動總會主席唐裔盛先生、Eileen Sze、我的父母、Alfred，以及所有照顧我們的本 地教練。我亦想多謝所有令這項活動有趣及生色 不少的所有船員。

Furthermore, I was amazed with the friendliness of local Canadians. During the trip, we made a visit to the supermarket. As a foreigner, I had no idea which ham to get. So I asked the saleswoman for a recommendation.

Without hesitation she brought me a plateful of all sorts of ham to try. I had never seen this kind of generosity towards strangers before.

This really put a smile on my face. These small actions uplift people’s spirits.

Overall, our team performed well, with Patrick in the gold fleet and others following tightly behind in silver fleet. It was a delightful experience in Canada.

During this summer holiday, I joined a trip to Canada for the Laser 4.7 World Championships with the Hong Kong laser team. The experience was truly one of a kind. With more than 20 countries and more than 150 competitors that participated in this event, it was one of the biggest regattas I have ever been to.

I would like to thank the support from Hebe Haven and HKSF for providing this incredible experience, as well as our coach Alfy and team leader Iris for taking care of us and sacrificing their own time and energy to help us follow our dreams. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for all the hard work done behind my back to ensure I make the most out of this event. Once again, it was an unforgettable event. It was my pleasure to sail under the Hong Kong flag and compete in the Laser 4.7 World Championships!

Although the racing area was a lake, it wasn’t one of those calm, peaceful lakes you would go to in holidays. This lake was choppy with some waves even reaching three meters.

This was a major challenge for us as you know Hong Kong waters rarely have any chop. Most of the days, it was blowing 15 knots in the afternoon, with a fairly medium breeze in the morning. Occasionally, if the wind shifted to southwest, big rollers were squeezed through the narrow channel mouth of Kingston to form tight compact waves.

The starts were the main key to the event, With a good start, it brings you to a better position. Once you are caught in a bad position after the start, it is more than difficult to catch up to the top sailors. One of the major challenges I encountered were the starts. I was very concerned with the u-flag, fearing of getting a UFD. This restrained me from getting a good start. So, every start I would get a good spot, and every time in the last few seconds I would fall behind. However, after talking to Alfy and my teammates, I decided to take a leap out of my comfort zone.

In the last few races, I kept my position and went straight through the start. The gun fired and I was gone. I managed to be one of the few boats in front. And so, that led to one of my best races in the regatta.

我的暑假 Lumiere Ng 在這個暑假，我和香港激光隊前往加拿大，一同參加 了激光 4.7 世界錦標賽。這真的是一生人一次的寶貴 經歷。超過 20 個國家，多於 150 名選手參加這項盛 事，這是我參與過最大型的帆船賽。 雖然比賽範圍是一個湖，但並不是那種平常放假時大 家會前往的平靜湖泊。這湖波瀾起伏，有達三米高的 海浪，是對我們而言最大的挑戰，因為香港的水面很 少有大風大浪。大部分日子裏，中午時分的風速是 15 節，而早上則吹著相對溫和的微風。偶爾，如果風向 轉為西南風，大浪便會從京士頓狹窄的水道口穿過， 形成緊湊起伏不絕的海浪。 活動的開始是關鍵，起航得宜能帶你到達較佳的位 置。一旦你從啟航後便身處較差的位置，要想追上位 於前列的選手就更困難了。我遇到的其中一個最大的 挑戰便是啟航的時候。當時我非常留意 U 字旗，擔心 會被取消資格（拿到 UFD），妨礙了我啟航時的表現。 所以，每次啟航時我會取得一個好的位置，但每次在 最後數秒的時候我便會落後其他選手。不過，和 Alfy 及隊友談過後，我決定跳出舒適圈。

在最後的幾個比賽，我成功地從啟航到終點也保持到自己 的位置。鳴槍後我便駛出船隻，成功成為最前面的幾艘船 隻之一。因此，這成為我其中一個成績最佳的帆船賽事。 再者，我對本地加拿大人的熱情友好感到受寵若驚。旅 程中，我們到了超級市場。作為外國人，我完全不知道 應該買哪種火腿。所以我問售貨員有甚麼建議。她毫不 猶疑地拿出一盤盛滿不同種類的火腿讓我試嚐。我以前 從來沒有見過對陌生人如此慷概的人，這令我不禁微笑 起來。微小的行為能夠鼓舞別人。 整體而言，我們隊表現得非常好，Patrick 在金隊，而其 他人緊貼在銀隊。這是一趟非常愉快的加拿大旅程。 我想多謝白沙灣遊艇會和香港帆船運動總會帶給我這次 的一流體驗。亦感謝我們的教練 Alfy 及隊長 Iris 照顧我 們，犧牲時間和心力來幫助我們追夢。最後，我要多謝 我的家人在我背後默默付出，確保我可以在這場賽事中 傾盡全力。我必須再次說這真的是一個非常難忘的活動。 我很榮幸能夠在香港旗下航行，並完成是次的激光 4.7 世界錦標賽！

FROM TERROR TO TRIUMPH With an introduction to sailing from the age of six, Nicholas Bezy started his journey at sea with HHYC. From beginning with the improvers programme to now competing in world championships, Bezy has risen above the ranks and has set his eyes on the 2020 Olympics. It is hard to imagine someone so experienced in the water, actually had a fear of the sea.

would be five or six degrees Celsius, freezing ice cold temperatures and having to wake up early for training as torture sometimes. Nevertheless, a true athlete does not let anything hold them back. Bezy expressed, “The best moments are when you’re off the water after a tough day, and you feel rewarded because you persevered through hard conditions.”

“I was under the sail for five seconds, but it felt like 30.“

After just a year into sailing, seven-year-old Bezy went through a traumatic experience, leading him to take a break from sailing for three whole years. He fell into the water and was underneath the sail. Bezy explained, “I was under the sail for five seconds, but it felt like 30. I started worrying about sharks and other things under the water and that’s when my fear began and stopped me from doing what I love.” He continued, “Even when I first started sailing, I was already slightly afraid of the water. I just tried spending a lot of time on the water rather than in the water.”

Many good memories surround Bezy on his journey to the Olympics, but he spoke about one that stood out compared to the others.

When he was in Palma, Spain last year, he got to train with Dutch training partners.

Bezy mentioned how he learned so much from them and how it ultimately pushed him even harder. The goal to reach the Olympics is even clearer and when asked what his plans were afterwards, he shared, “There are a few ideas I have about after 2020, but as of right now, my main focus is the Olympics so I haven’t put much thought into what I do after 2020. My parents, however, encourage me to pursue a bachelor’s degree, so that’s definitely on the list.”

At last, his mother stepped in and signed him up for the racing squad. Ever since then, Bezy has not looked back. He shared, “When I got back into sailing, I realised why I fell in love with it in the first place.” He elaborated how sailing has given him the opportunity to explore places. But most of all, given him an appealing sense of freedom that comes with being at one with the ocean.

The future of youth sailing remains strong as the sport gains more and more supporters. Bezy suggests that what is lacking doesn’t lie within youth sailing, but rather sailing in senior levels. He shared, “Encouraging youngsters can easily be done through programmes like what HHYC offers. For example, improvers and maybe even mini club races to give youngsters a competitive aspect to the sport. But we have to do more in order to stop youngsters from giving up the sport as they get older.”

As the 2020 Olympics fast approaches, Bezy not only focuses on the technical perspective of sailing, but also the mental perspective of competing to place in the 2020 Olympics. He said, “Sport psychology has been a big passion of mine. I think the mental toughness of athletes goes underrated as it takes a lot out of you. You need to do whatever you can to sustain your goal and keep pushing hard.”

While we all have good days and bad days, the same goes for athletes. Bezy described the bad days where it

Finally, Bezy concluded with a message to everyone who wants to give sailing a go but have a fear of the water. He said, “It might not be easy but you have to try get out of your comfort zone and when you do that, you never know what could happen. You could fall in love with the sport again like I did, or you could hate it even more. But the main thing that counts is that you tried.”

從恐懼到勝利 Nicholas Bezy 從 六 歲 開 始 接 觸 帆 船 運 動， 在 白 沙 灣遊艇會展開海洋旅程。 從一開始參加進步者計劃 （improvers），到現在參與世界級賽事，Bezy 的名 次大躍升，把目光放在 2020 年的奧運會上。 實在 很難想像一位海洋經驗如此豐富的人，其實害怕大 海。 參加帆船運動短短一年，七歲的 Bezy 便經歷創傷， 令他暫停航行整整三年。他掉進水裏，在帆船的下 面。Bezy 解釋：「我當時只是身處帆船下面五秒， 但感覺就像渡過了三十秒。 我開始擔心有鯊魚及其 他的海洋生物，這就是我產生恐懼的時候，而這種恐 懼妨礙我做我喜愛的事情。」他接著說：「即使我剛 開始參加帆船運動， 我已經有點害怕水。 我只是嘗 試長時間留在水面，而不是留於水裏。」 最後，他的母親介入並替他報名加入比賽隊伍。從那 時起，Bezy 便沒有再回頭。 他說：「當我再次航行， 我意識到當初我為甚麼會愛上帆船。他解釋帆船讓他 能夠探索不同的地方。 但最重要的是， 每當置身海 洋，一種誘人的自由感覺就伴隨著他。」

Bezy 參與奧運的旅程中充滿美好回憶，但他談及了 其中一個最深刻的回憶，就是去年在西班牙帕爾馬和 荷蘭搭檔一起訓練。Bezy 提及他如何從搭檔身上學 到很多，以及最終如何令他逼使自己更加努力，希 望晉升奧運的目標更加清晰。當問他參加奧運後的計 劃，他表示：「關於 2020 年後，我有一些想法，但 目前我的主要焦點是奧運，所以我沒有細想 2020 年 後我會做甚麼。然而，我的父母鼓勵我攻讀學士學 位， 所以這當然會是其中一項我會做的事。」

2020 年奧運即將來臨，Bezy 不僅重視帆船的技術性 範疇，亦重視競爭 2020 年奧運資格的精神層面。他 說：「我對運動心理學非常有熱誠。我認為人們低估 了運動員所需的心靈強度，而強心臟是非常重要的。 你要做所有你可以做到的事，以堅持你的目標及 繼 續推動自己努力。」

由於運動有越來越多支持者，青年帆船運動的未來仍 然明朗。 Bezy 認為缺乏的不是青年帆船運動，而是 高級帆船運動員。他認為：「年輕人很容易受白沙灣 遊艇會之類舉辦的活動所鼓勵。例如，進步者計劃 （improvers）及甚至可能是小型的遊艇會比賽讓年 輕人初嚐帆船競賽滋味。但我們要做更多事來防止年 輕人長大後放棄這項運動。」

每 人 都 會 經 歷 好 日 子 和 壞 日 子， 運 動 員 亦 同 樣。 Bezy 形容壞日子是在攝氏五或六度，天氣非常寒冷 時要早起床訓練，有時候是一種折磨。不過，一個真 正的運動員不會因任何事卻步。Bezy 表示：「最好 的時候就是當艱苦的一天完結，離開水中，而你會覺 得收穫滿滿， 因為你堅持著捱過了最艱難的狀況。」

最後， Bezy 以給所有想嘗試帆船運動但怕水的人一 個訊息作結。他說：「這項運動可能並不簡單，但你 要嘗試離開自己的舒適圈。而當你成功離開時，你永 遠不會知道會發生甚麼事。你或者會像我一樣愛上這 項運動，又或者你會更討厭它，但最重要的是你曾經 嘗試過。」

HHYC Laser Pico entry

In the Laser Pico division, French International School made quite a statement with 79 laps, followed by Hebe Dragons Pico #1 (56 laps) and CCF Sunshine Crew (55 laps).

The lively Hansa division saw seasoned campaigners, Para Warriors, completing 71 laps and topping the results table ahead of Friends of Para Warriors and Saturday Sailors. On the dock, competing teams had their gazebos erected with volunteers at hand to help with change-overs and pit stops. On shore, in the Club’s expansive Garden Bar, camps were set up for sailors to catch up on muchneeded sleep as the night wore on.

The wind stayed fairly consistent at around 7 – 8 knots through Sunday morning, although the clouds had arrived and there was rain forecast. Sailors squeezed every last second out of their lap times as the 1400 finish approached. Then, with barely 15 minutes to go, a massive squall swept across Hebe Haven. Winds rose to 40+ knots and hardly a dinghy was left upright. Volunteers poured onto the docks, jumped into safety boats and whipped around the course helping to right capsized boats. What a dramatic finish to the race!

Under clear, blue skies in a fresh easterly breeze, the 16 th staging of the Hebe Haven Yacht Club’s 24HR Charity Dinghy Race started on schedule at 1400, Saturday, 5 October 2019. 33 boats, including nine RS Quests, eight RS Fevas, six Laser Picos, one Laser Bahia and nine Hansa dinghies, passed the committee boat, Hebe One, and headed for a turn mark just before the Hebe Haven fairway. Unfortunately, a few teams had to pull out due to the transportation disturbance during the weekend in HK. The start was witnessed by officials from the Sai Kung District Office, other local VIPs and sponsors’ representatives. The Race Officer, Bridget Chan, and Commodore, Don Johnston, kept everyone informed about starting sequences, scoring systems and the other vagaries of yacht racing!

The course was roughly a rectangle in shape and less than a mile in length with all competitors having to pass between the mark-counting boat and an orange buoy to record a lap. No Optimists this year as the Pico has proved better over this type of course arrangement.

Two hours later, with crews dried out, a loud and boisterous prizegiving was held in the Garden Bay where sailors gave their renditions of Hey Jude and, of course, We Are the Champions, before prizes were presented and the RO announced that nearly HKD800,000 had been raised for charity...with more to come!

Squall hits 10 minutes before finish

The highest number of laps went to the RS Quest, Still Topy Heavy, with a recorded 91, and a corrected lap time of 13.25 minutes. The second highest number of laps (89) went to the RS Quest, Imperial Poona YC Etchells, and third highest number of laps to the RS Feva, Team RBJs. Corrected results in the RS Quest division were Still Top Heavy in 1st, Imperial Poona YC Etchells in 2nd and Champagne Sailing in 3rd. In the RS Feva division, corrected time honours went to Team RBJs, with French International School in 2nd and Hong Kong Academy in 3rd.

Looking ahead, the Monsoon Series will start on 19 October 2019, with the first race of the Monsoon Winter Series. This will be the third running of the umbrella Monsoon Series event, which combines the results across the HHYC Winter (Oct – Dec 2019) and Spring Series (Mar – Apr 2020), plus the RHKYC Spring Cup (22 – 23 Feb 2020). Both clubs are stepping up efforts to coordinate and communicate this event, to encourage as many boats as possible to join the combined events; in what is usually some of the best winds of the year. Sign up and join in!

The SHK Scallywag Foundation venture with Sailability and STC took another step forward with the launch of three Hansa dinghies donated by SHK— touchingly named Sun Fish, Star Fish and Jelly Fish, in memory of John Fisher— as part of the Bart’s Bash Event. Mr. Lee Seng Huang, of SHK and David Witt, Skipper of SHK Scallywag were on hand to officiate and cut the ribbon. David Witt and his Wife enjoyed the HHYC hospitality so much that they stayed at the Club all afternoon and David kindly presented the prizes at the end of the event.

The major keelboat races of the summer were successfully concluded in August. Big thanks to all our sponsors—especially UK Sailmakers and Peroni Beer—without whom we could not put on such high profile events. There was then a respite of a couple of weeks, when the STC staff could wind down a bit, and others of us could concentrate fully on our day jobs! September brought with it the Bart’s Bash Dinghy and Yacht Regatta, into which we incorporated the re-sail of the Crew/Ladies Helm Race, which was abandoned in March due to no wind. A truly fantastic festival of sailing was conducted; expertly arranged and marshalled by the Sail Training Centre and a bunch of key volunteers. The annual Port Shelter Regatta was also slotted into this relatively quiet time, just to keep sailors on their toes.

By the time you read this magazine, the annual 24HR Charity Dinghy Race will have been and gone; hopefully with another massive turnout and lots of money raised for the selected charities. This year, two new faces have headed the organising committee and both have committed masses of time to make the event happen smoothly. Whenever you see Bridget Chan or Kay Patterson, in the coming weeks, please acknowledge their fantastic efforts in this regard.

Last, but not least, STC bade a sad farewell to Race Coordinator, Sharkey Xia, who gave fantastic service for the past two years and transformed the efficiency of the organisation of keelboat racing. You will be missed, Sharkey.

On the plus side, Queenie Ho has been recruited as Sharkey’s replacement and has certainly hit the ground running in her first two weeks, with the Bart’s Bash and Port Shelter Regatta on consecutive weekends. Welcome Queenie; so far so good!

Rear Commodore—Operations

The lightning protection system has now been installed. Thank you for your understanding of any inconvenience caused during the installation.

The long-term parking and occupancy of motorcycles has affected parking availability for daily users. Therefore, the General Committee has adopted new measures to assist daily users and prevent long-term storage.

As current speedboat designs tend to be of increasing height, we are studying the possible changes to the size requirement of boats on the hardstand, hoping to make more efficient use of the space on both the racks and on the hardstands, to allow more boat storage and shorten the waiting list.

Next projects include the Marine Office fully assisting in preparing for the 24HR Charity Dinghy Race, which will have been held by the time you read this.

By now, the new Operation Committee of ​​2019 – 2020 should have started their work. I would like to thank the Club staff for their hard work and all the members for their cooperation. The work such as pontoon repair testing, maintenance, mooring parts replacement and any other construction works have been successfully completed because of them. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the Ops Committee of 2018 – 2019, to be able to represent HHYC and to arrange and participate in various Sai Kung community activities. I hope the new Ops Committee continue smoothly in the planning and execution of operation works, including the plan to increase mooring facilities with the Marine Department.

接下來，海事執行現正全力協助準備 24小時慈善小艇賽，當你看到這時， 比賽已經圓滿結束。

2019-2020新的海事執行工作，應該已經展開。在過去的一年裏，感謝船會 各同事的協調合作及大家會員的配合，令各項如船橋測試、維修，更換浮泡 零件等等工作得以順利完成。很高興能有機會參與2018至2019年度海事執 行工作，並能夠代表白沙灣遊艇會聯繫，出席及參與各項西貢社區活動。期 望新一屆海事執行委員會繼續順利工作及計劃，包括能與海事處計劃增加浮 泡設施等等工作。
