However, the home side sat deep in the second half and were punished when Dan Wilson headed home, and Callum Larmouth then finished off a good break with a deflected effort to complete the turnaround with a couple of minutes to play.
Kyle Tomlin almost rescued a point for Carlton in injury time, but his effort hit the crossbar.
