GROUND FOR TONIGHT'S GAME.

It was a really good performance against Consett at the weekend. It was a bit tight in the first half with them scoring first but the lads rallied together well and stuck at it. We controlled the majority of the game and it shows the togetherness of the squad to score five. We just had to keep doing our thing with a bit more quality in the final pass, and we saw the game out in the second half.

I was delighted to score my first Hebburn goal. I want to grab a few more so hopefully that'll kickstart it and I can score another couple. We're taking each game as it comes and ticking wins off - hopefully we'll be where we want to be come the end of the season. There are ten games left and we go into every game looking to win.

We played Carlton last week so we know what they're about.

It'll be a tough game but we're at home so I'm sure it'll be a winnable one.

We're pleased to be second in the league now and we want to keep that momentum rolling.

Full information for our Durham Challenge Cup Final has now been announced.

Hebburn Town will face Spennymoor Town on Wednesday, May 3 at at the Stadium of Light (7:30pm kick-off).

Ticketing details will be confirmed in due course. The last final played at the Stadium of Light saw our current manager, Daniel Moore, lift the trophy in 2019 as Shildon beat South Shields.

Durham County FA CEO, John Topping commented:

“The Durham County FA has a strong partnership with our senior club, Sunderland AFC, with both organisations helping each other provide development and opportunities to many.

“We are excited by the opportunities that lie ahead for football in our county as we work together more and more closely.

“We are absolutely delighted that Sunderland AFC have agreed to host the Final once again. This further endorses the club’s commitment to grassroots football and the wider community.

“To play at such an iconic venue is the dream of all players outside of the professional game and is a massive boost for the County FA and the competition.”

The visitors broke the deadlock on 34 minutes as former Hartlepool striker Scott Fenwick unleashed a sublime strike into the top corner from distance. However Consett's lead only lasted until the 41st minute, when Olly Martin was flicked through by Amar Purewal and fired an effort past former Hebburn goalkeeper Mark Foden.

And Martin's second goal arrived on 54 minutes, as he latched on a defensive mistake and thundered a strike low into the back of the net.

Daniel Moore's side jumped to second in the table on Saturday after a six-goal thriller against Consett. 5-1 afternoon the 74 mark, as the Whitby Town loanee found himself through oneon-one following heavy touch and arrowed his shot into the top right corner. Dan Groves then won a corner and Amar Purewal was denied off the line, but Liam Henderson was there to bundle it over for his first goal in 15 games. Eventually, Hebburn made it 5-1 through substitute James Harrison who carried on possession when Purewal was tripped on the halfway line and slotted into the net after his initial shot clashed off the post. With Bridlington beating Stockton, Hebburn jumped to second in the table with 10 league games to go.
