We delve into the history books to find out more about today's visitors. Although the current version of Grimsby Borough were founded in 2003, a previous club by the same name were entered into the Central Midlands League in 1987, albeit initially under the name Grimsby Ross before their name change two seasons later. After a couple of seasons propping up the table, they were relegated to the Lincolnshire League in 1990, but by 1992 following second and fourth placed finishes, the club left the league and dissolved. Eleven years on, the new version of the club re-joined the Lincolnshire League and finished runners up in their first season, returning the club to the Premier Division of the CML.
