Equans Support Multi Skills Students

Our Multi Skills students from Castleford College attended the Equans site on Flanshaw Lane to support their education and training; the site visit supported insight into construction processes and careers.

Watch It Grow

Our Level 2 Electrical Installation students visited Caddick Construction Limited in Leeds for a formal introduction to the site. Caddick Construction support our students to experience live construction works through our ‘watch it grow’ initiative. This was one of our Level 2 groups’ first visits to the site. They experienced the early construction works that are carried out ahead of their trade and soon they’ll be back for a re-visit to see the site’s progress!

Construction Students Put Their Best Foot Forward

Our Construction students had a highly successful day in Leeds at the Guild-of-Bricklayers’ Yorkshire Region 2023 competition including Castleford students Josh and Bradley, who placed 2nd and 3rd in the competition!

The AICO Roadshow Comes to Castleford

Our Electrical Installation and Plumbing students had a great experience as the Aico roadshow came to Castleford College. All construction students were given an insight to systems installed within properties to monitor and support the safety of the occupants.

Electric Vehicle Car Charging Training for Electrical Students

Electrical Installation students benefitted from the expertise of industry professionals as Project EV, working in conjunction with YESSS Electrical, attended College to support the student’s gaining knowledge around EV car charging; the students even received some branded merchandise!

The students found the sessions informative and they welcomed the additional knowledge to build their awareness around green skills for the sector, despite not being a requirement of their qualification.

Hear from our Students

My tutor was really engaging and got me really interested in Project Management, so much so that I wanted to pursue a career in it. Studying at College has been life changing for me and I’ve been given so many opportunities to succeed. The variety of different units gave me a real insight into all the roles available in the construction industry.

Construction Student Awards

I really enjoy the Construction and Built Environment course that I am studying. I like learning the different fields of study especially project and site management. College has given me great opportunities that has allowed me to earn while I learn, with plenty of confidence and support when you need it. I have secured a Level 4 Trainee Construction Technician Apprenticeship with ENGIE.

Extracurricular Activities

At Castleford College, we like to ensure our students have lots of extracurricular activities throughout the week that they can join.

LGTBQ+ Club

A club for our LGBTQ+ members of the College, helping with student support in a weekly social group. The club sometimes set up a booth where they give out badges and leaflets and engage in educational conversations with fellow students about the community.

Darts Club

Over 100 students have already been participating in our darts sessions throughout the week. These take place in the Library Social Area over break and lunchtimes.

These are a great way to make friends and have a break from their studies, as well as an opportunity to hone a new skill and enjoy themselves whilst doing it!

Cooking Club

The Cooking Club are always creating the tastiest dishes from sweet treats to fajitas and pizzas!

Kickboxing

Some of our students got involved in an exhilarating 10-week kickboxing course! The course ran in both the Autumn and Winter terms and saw the students learn all the basics of the sport, progressing rapidly each week. At the end, they were all examined and graded.
