International Student Guidelines
HBIU welcomes international students who meet the following eligibility criteria to take MedCA certification exams:
✅ Must have completed a U.S. state-approved program (HBIU USA) OR
✅ Must have worked in the same field in the U.S. for at least 1 year (2 years for Medical Assistants)
✅ Can take the MedCA certification exam remotely, with specific proctoring guidelines

Certified Phlebotomy Technician
Phlebotomy technicians primarily draw blood for laboratory testing, as well as for blood donations, transfusions, and research, in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, private practices and blood donation centers.
Graduation from a High School or Equivalent, and graduation from an approved Phlebotomy Technician Program within the last 5 years or 1-year verifiable work experience as an Phlebotomy Technician in the US

Certified EKG Technician
EKG Technician is a member of the healthcare team whose primary duty is the taking EKGs on patients An EKG measures the electrical activity of the heart and can be used to diagnose a range of many heart diseases
Graduation from a High School or Equivalent, and graduation from an approved Phlebotomy Technician Program within the last 5 years or 1-year verifiable work experience as an EKG Technician in the US

Certified Patient Care Technician
Patient Care Technician is a health technician working under the supervision of a registered nurse, physician, or other health professional to provide basic patient care
Duties may include taking vital signs, drawing blood and urine samples, performing basic diagnostic tests such as EKG, and assisting the physician as needed
Graduation from a High School or Equivalent, and graduation from an approved Patient Care Technician Program within the last 5 years or 1-year verifiable work experience as an Patient Care Technician Program in the US

Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant
Medical Laboratory Assistant is a person who, under the supervisor of a medical technologist or physician, performs microscopic and bacteriologic test of human blood, tissue, and fluids foe diagnostic and research purposes
Graduation from a High School or Equivalent, and graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Assistant Program within the last 5 years or 1-year verifiable work experience as an Medical Laboratory Assistant Program in the US

Certified Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Technician is a pharmacy staff member who works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and performs various pharmacy-related functions In most cases, job duties include giving medication and other health care products to patients, as well as working with third parties and doctor’s offices to resolve negotiations of patient’s insurance or state programs Pharmacy technicians often do the routine tasks associated with preparing prescribed medication and providing drugs to patients, but may also do compounding of medications, verbal prescriptions and doctor calls, expense, and medications orders, returns and expired credits, and non-licensed pharmacy management.

Certified Veterinary Assistant
Veterinary Assistant is someone who works under the direction of a veterinarian, laboratory animal technologist or scientist to help with administrative and non-medical care of pets and non-farm animals such as cats, rabbits, dogs, ferrets, and birds The veterinary assistant is responsible for providing care such as feeding, cleaning, giving water and administering medication to animals in veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories, or animal hospitals

Medical Assistant
A Medical Assistant is a person who, under the direction of a physician, performs various routine administrative and clinical tasks in a hospital, clinic, or similar facility.

A certified Medical Administrative Assistant oversees and manages the day-to-day medical office duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the medical office

Certified Medical Billing & Coding Specialist
Certified Medical Billing & Coding Specialist requires the individual to manage insurance claims, patient’s billing records, and have extensive knowledge of billing codes

Certified Insurance Exam Technician
Insurance Examination Technician performs duties such as drawing blood for medical laboratory testing, and EKG recordings for diagnostic evaluation Phlebotomy refers to the drawing of blood for medical laboratory testing EKG recordings measure the electrical activity of the heart which is used to help diagnose a range of heart diseases Graduation from a High School or Equivalent, and graduation from an approved Insurance Examination Technician program within the last 5 years or 1-year verifiable work experience as an Insurance Examination Technician Program in the US

Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist
Electronic Health Records Specialist provides support to the rest of the team in doctors’ offices, hospitals, outpatient facilities, nursing homes and other health care settings. He or she has the knowledge required to efficiently manage and maintain medical records in those settings. Although an EHR specialist has no direct contact with patients, he or she plays a vital role in patient care. As a certified EHR Specialist, you will have the ability to process health information data, navigate EHR software and manage applications of EHR technology in a medical site. In addition to maintaining electronic patient records, the EHR specialist is responsible for protecting the privacy and security of patient information.

Allied Health Instructor will establish you as a master of the subjects in areas of pedagogy in the allied health field.
