Diane Irvine Founder
With more than 35 years experience in the healthcare medical devices industry, Diane worked for major multinationals whose products became market leaders in the UK and worldwide. Since 1989, Diane has focused on new surgical technologies and development of the required training courses for the medical device industry ,surgeons and clinical teams to support advances in surgical technique. Health Care Skills Training International Ltd. is a registered EduQual Centre delivering professional healthcare qualifications that are internationally recognised.

Anne Rhodes Internal Verifier
Anne’s career spans over 30 years in the perioperative field. She has held the positions of Lead Nurse for Theatres, and Day Surgery and in Education as a Professional and Practice Development Senior Charge Nurse. She has also been involved over many years in heightening perioperative staffs’ awareness of latex allergy within the perioperative environment through development of protocols, policies and publications. She is also involved in developing and implementing bespoke training courses for several high profile Medical Companies.
Denise Cafarelli Dees
Denise began a career in clinical research, service, management and education in the field of communicative disorders at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the USA, over 35 years ago. She has worked in both public and private healthcare, the medical device industry and in graduate degree, as well as professional education, including serving as an assessor of clinical competence and external examiner for professional organisations, hospitals and universities in the USA, UK/Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Australia for surgeons, clinicians and industry professionals.1.
Jacqueline Haughton
Jacki worked for the NHS for 38 years, and for the last twenty years as a Consultant Surgeon. She was the first Colorectal - trained surgeon appointed to her area, which had high levels of deprivation. She retained a pragmatic and cost -efficient approach to healthcare, expanding much-needed lower GI services by training nurses in extended roles. She initiated training of nurse colonoscopists in her region, which led to a new service of ‘direct-to-test’ GP referrals being established. Jacki has been teaching post graduate education for both the NHS/ Private sector and Healthcare Industry with Health Care Skills Training International since 2000. Jacki became Medical Director in 2023.
Graham Sunderland
Graham retired from full time clinical activity in June 2015 and continues to be involved part time in appraisal and training to support the service. He has a long-standing interest in surgical education and training and continues to be active in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow and Academy of Clinical Educators as a senior college clinical educator. Graham was a member of the Patient Safety Board of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and continues as a member of the Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons faculty. He is Chairman of the Joint Surgical Colleges Fellowship Examination board in general surgery.
Jake Timothy
Jake has been a full time Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon at the Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust for over 10 years. He initially trained at Chasing Cross and Westminster Medical School. He is an Associate Clinical Professor and has been awarded many grants. He has published widely and is an executive editor for an international journal. Jake has taught prolifically both to his peers and allied health care professionals. Pioneering new surgical techniques, he is also a NICE specialist advisor and until recently has been the UK representative for the Training Courses for the European Association of Neurosurgeons, organizing and delivering teaching modules. More locally he is a Foundation Program Director at the YorkshireDeanery and runs courses on Human Factors and Simulation. He was awarded a Clinical Excellence in Service Delivery by his trust for setting up and expanding a new procedure. Apart from the UK, Jake has set up a spinal service with his colleagues and in partnership with surgeons in Bangladesh to treat the high number of paralysed patients in that country.
1. Formation of a Contract
1.1 The order/invoice attached to these terms and conditions is valid on receipt of a confirmation document or Purchase Order Number.
1.2 Each order accepted shall constitute an individual legally binding contract between Healthcare Skills Training International Ltd and Philips Healthcare Such contract is hereinafter referred to in these terms and conditions as “ an order”.
1.3 No addition, alteration, substitution or waiver of these terms and conditions will be valid unless expressly accepted in writing by us or a person authorised to sign on our behalf.
1.4 Nothing in these terms and conditions shall prejudice any condition or warranty expressed or implied, or any legal remedy to which we may be entitled in relation to the services/and or work which form the subject of this quotation.
2. Specification
All Healthcare Skills Training International Ltd qualifications/training courses supplied by us shall be in accordance with the quotation given and any further specifications or descriptions agreed or expressly listed or set out on the face of the order

3. Acceptance
3.1 We must be informed in writing of any changes, alterations, substitutions, or cancellations. We reserve the right to retain any deposits or charge in full for any qualifications/training courses booked where cancellation is not made within the period specified. A refund, less a 10% administration fee, will be due if cancellations are received in writing at least 6 weeks before the course date. Subject to clause 5.2, we regret that any cancellation after this time cannot be refunded. and that refunds for failure to attend the training course cannot be made, however substitute delegates are always welcome.
4. Title and Payment
4.1 We warrant that we have good title to the EduQual Qualifications Framework.
4.2 Unless otherwise stated in the order, payment of the course fees and EduQual registration fees comprised in each order shall become due prior to delegates’ course attendance.
4.3 We will charge daily interest on late payment of the amounts due, at a rate of 4% per annum above the then base lending rate at Bank of England from the date the payment was due until actual date of payment.
5.Price
5.1 If the rate of value added tax (VAT) increases between the date of your order and the date of delivery we will add the necessary additional amount of value added tax to the price of the goods.
5.2 If the course fees increase for any reason between the date of your order and the date of delivery of a training course, we will notify you of this and give you the choice of accepting the price increase or cancelling the order in which case any deposit paid by you will be refunded in full.
6.Force Majeure
6.1 We shall not be liable for delay or failure to perform any of our obligations under this order if the delay or failure is caused by any circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
6.2 For the purposes of this condition, “force majeure” shall include, but not be limited to act s of God, war, terrorism, civil disorder, industrial dispute, fire, or explosions.
6.3 Upon the happening of a “force majeure” event, we shall be entitled to reschedule course dates at mutually convenient time for the performance of our obligations.
7.Guarantees
We do not provide additional guarantees.
8.Exclusions
8.1 We shall not under any circumstances be liable for any indirect or consequential loss howsoever caused whether by negligence, breach of contract, misrepresentation or otherwise.

10.Jurisdiction
If any part of these terms and conditions are found to be unlawful it shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining clauses. These terms and conditions shall be construed in accordance with the Laws of Scotland and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.
