We look forward to celebrating our Winners and Finalists at the Gala Awards Reception being held at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC during the American Library Association in June.

Message from Founder and Co-Chair, Catherine Goulet

Catherine Goulet

Thank you to all the authors and publishers who have enriched our lives tremendously this year with your excellent book submissions! The quality of books submitted was outstanding and the judges had a tough time making their selections of winners and finalists. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards saw tremendous growth this year with 20% more entries over last year. We are excited to be hosting our annual awards ceremony in conjunction with American Library Association’s annual conference being held in Washington, DC. We look forward to celebrating all the winners and finalists at our June 21st awards ceremony at the historic Mayflower Hotel in DC.

This year we were thrilled to welcome back Co-Chair, Cathy Teets of Headline Books. We are all grateful to receive Cathy’s seasoned advice, enthusiasm, support and assistance in growing the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Headline Books, the first and only recipient of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards ‘Publisher of the Year’ award, has won close to 500 awards through various awards programs. It is with great pleasure that this year, alongside Cathy Teets of Headline Books, we will be honoring the second ever winner of the ‘Publisher of the Year’ award, which is being awarded to She Writes Press. Congratulations to She Writes for all of your dedicated work and ongoing support of authors and for producing quality, award-winning books, year after year. Also, a massive thank you to co-founder and literary agent Marilyn Allen, for her wisdom, support, expertise, and continued kindness, generosity and keen desire to help authors. On behalf of everyone, I’d like to express our ongoing gratitude to Shelley Anderson, our dedicated and hard working Awards Coordinator, who always works tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of our awards program – Shelley, you are awesome! Thank you to all the judges, and to Tag Goulet, Beth Kallman-Werner, Lolly de Jonge, Ashley Teets, Heidi Ferber, Shea Megale, Meghan Taylor and Peter Cyngot for all your support, advice and dedicated work. As always, we are honored and humbled to put on this awards program each year because of all of the talented writers and publishers! I wish you ongoing success with your books now and in the future. (Catherine Goulet)

Message from Co-Chairperson, Cathy Teets It’s an honor to co-chair the Next Generation Indie Book Awards and a pleasure to be a publisher in the burgeoning technological markets that enhance and grow our business. Authors are amazing and the quality of submissions I receive continues to get better every year. The face of publishing is ever changing and this is a time like no other for authors to get their work in front of small, midsize, and large publishing houses. An Indie Book Award is a prestigious marketing tool for authors and Cathy Teets publishers whose work is recognized by this hard working group of individuals and it may open doors to amazing opportunities for future works. Many thanks to Catherine Goulet for including me in this honorable group and for her continued efforts to help authors and publishers in this highly competitive business. (Cathy Teets)

They aim to stand out from the crowd of millions of new titles, and millions of other books currently in print. Currently celebrating our 12th year and now entering our 13th year, the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, NGIBA, is the largest International Book Awards Program recognizing and honoring the top independently published books of the year. Referred to in the media as the Sundance of the publishing world, the NGIBA draws leaders from both traditional and independent publishing to identify indie books deserving a wider audience.
