Director’s Notes

Aloha and Welcome!

After a year of waiting, we finally had the opportunity to bring a live show together for you this evening! To produce a musical it takes love for the craft and consistent dedication to be successful. And to pull it off in just three weeks is an added challenge to the mix. These young actors showed up prepared, practiced, and ready to work each and every day. They should be proud of what they accomplished this summer!

I would like to express my gratitude to the Hawaii Children’s Theatre board for allowing me to continue my work as a director in children’s theater and for all of their unending support. I would also like to thank our parent volunteers who helped us through the program. Additionally, our interns, who brought not only their talent in theatre arts but also their ability to create sets, costumes, makeup, hair, and our beautiful backdrop. Aristocats has had such a great team of teachers and artists without which this program would not have been possible.

Aristocats has been a fun way to come back to musical theatre with a journey through France with a dash of jazz! As Scat Cat tells us, “Jazz is the international language… Rich or poor, big or small, dog, cat, mouse, whatever - Jazz brings us together.” And we are certainly excited that this show has brought us together!
