loon Fiesta, Bikes & Balloons Tour by Routes Rentals & Tours includes bike rentals, unique photo opportunities, VIP bike parking and admission to the event that bypasses the admission lines. This year, the tour is partnering with Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm for visits to the farm, five-star breakfasts and inn stay packages during Balloon Fiesta. Another local bicycle shop, The BikeSmith, is offering a Biking Adventure Package that includes a bike rental, self-guided tour of the Bosque Trail along the Rio Grande and a gourmet farm-to-table lunch at Old Town Farm. ·Sunrise at Sandia Golf Club: Tee times begin at 7:30am, and the Scott Miller-designed championship course provides the perfect view as the first wave of balloons takes off around 7:00am. ·Viewing parties at Gruet Winery: Sparkling wine has been a ballooning tradition since the first hot air balloonists brought Champagne along to appease the inhabitants of the region where they might land. Located near Balloon Fiesta Park, Gruet Winery provides a prime location for viewing parties, which include a gourmet breakfast and Gruet’s renowned sparkling wine or mimosas. ·Front row views and behind-the-scenes education at the AndersonAbruzzo International Balloon Museum – Explore the history of ballooning (historic balloons, interactive exhibits and the science behind ballooning) while watching the ascents from floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Balloon Fiesta Park launch field. The museum has extended hours during the Fiesta. Visit www.ItsATrip.org/BalloonFiesta2013 for more details on events plus hotel specials and deals - ItsATrip.org
Votes Needed to Name Albuquerque’s Favorite Place to Watch a Sunset
A
trip to the top of Sandia Peak is a must during a visit to Albuquerque on North America’s longest aerial tram to watch a breathtaking sunset over the extinct volcanoes of the Albuquerque’s West Mesa. Viewing the Sandias during a sunset is just as magical as they take on a pinkish watermelon hue. Albuquerque and its gorgeous sunsets are one of the nominees in the latest 10Best Readers Choice travel award contest to name the favorite place to watch a sunset. A battle is underway as online voting takes place across the country. The contest will run until October 14, 2013 at 11:59am EDT. The winner will then be announced on 10Best.com at noon on October 16th. The contest organizers want viewers to think about “what says vacation more than a beautiful sunset?” It is also a way for everyone to think about their
“favorite vacations with a westerly view.” We need your help to showcase just how significant Albuquerque sunsets are to New Mexico. Residents can go to http://www.10best.com/awards/ travel/best-place-to-watch-a-sunset/ to vote to help name Albuquerque the best place to watch a sunset. The contest runs for 23 more days and voters are allowed to vote once per day. Please encourage your readers/viewers to participate and vote as often as they can. We will keep people posted at Facebook.com/VisitABQ as the contest progresses. - ItsATrip.org
