oin the celebration of New Mexico’s native wildlife and plants at Wildlife West Nature Park’s Wildlife Festival in Edgewood on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Wildlife West’s zoo is one of the few places where people can be close to and observe Mexican Wolves in their natural habitat, get a behind the scenes tour of Koshari, a 500 pound black bear, and learn about 24 other species of wildlife that are native to New Mexico. Tours start each hour during the day. Representatives from wildlife and environmental organizations will present, including Elke Duerr, Albuquerque filmmaker and conservationist, on Mexican wolves in the wild; Dr. Scott Altenbech on bats; Doug Scott, author of “Waterfalls in New Mexico”, on amazing waterfalls in our arid state; and Dr. Christian Meuli, permaculturalist, on water harvesting. Visitors will also learn about the life cycle of monarch butterflies presented by Tatia Veltkamp from Wings of Enchantment, and the wonderful world of native bees and other pollinators by Laurie Lange from the Pollinator Nation and Bee Collaborative. Laurie will also bring orchard mason bee houses, seeds for pollinator gardens and seed plan kits. Plus, join an herb-walk through Wildlife West lead by Mary Jo Hoven. Participants are invited to stay for the Cowboy Chuckwagon and Western Swing Dinner Show beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a free-flight Peregrine Falcon show, then the barbeque dinner, followed by a live western-swing music performance by Holy Water & Whiskey. Show ends at 9 p.m. The dinner and show are in a covered all-weather amphitheater and includes a free hayride. Reservations for the dinner show are required by 2 p.m. on the day of the show. Chuckwagon tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, $12 for children 5-11, and kids under 5 are free. All activities throughout the day, except for the Chuckwagon Dinner Show, are included with regular admission to Wildlife West: $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 students and children under 5 are free, plus free parking. “Biking Bad”Tour Hits the Streets of ABQ Providing the Ultimate Cinematic “Fix” R

outes Bicycle Rentals & Tours (www.routesrentals.com), a locallyowned bicycle rental and tour company located near historic Old Town Albuquerque, has announced the launch of a new ‘Biking Bad’ tour to provide guests with a first-hand experience of key locations, characters, and moments from the Emmy award-winning television series, Breaking Bad, which is set and filmed in Albuquerque. ‘Biking Bad’ is a signature bicycle experience that takes guests onto the streets of Albuquerque in search of their next “fix” (a scene and/or location from the show). Each installment of the tour is unique, and begins with a random draw from one the show’s main characters, which then determines the perspective and sequence of locations that will be explored. Bike and television lovers can mount up on Routes’ signature, yellow-tired cruisers or choose to ride a hybrid, mountain, road, or tandem bike. ‘Biking Bad’ is the first professionally-led bicycle tour of its kind in Albuquerque, and will focus on show locations accessible by bike in and around Albuquerque’s urban core. The experience is intended to compliment other “Breaking Bad” themed tours currently offered by the ‘ABQ Trolley Company’ (www.abqtrolley.com). All Routes’ tour packages include a collectable gift and may be customized with a number of amenities including group photographs and extended rentals. For those who prefer to make their own way, Routes will debut a variety of self-guided experience packages in July that include bike rentals, custom route / scene location maps, and more. “Routes is pleased to offer a completely new option for people to experience the city that is Breaking Bad”, said Heather Arnold, an Albuquerque

native who owns and operates Routes Bicycle Rentals & Tours with her husband, Josh. “Our bikes are a wonderful, sustainable way to experience the unique landscapes of Albuquerque while re-living some of the show’s greatest moments.” Guests can purchase tickets for ‘Biking Bad’ on the Routes Bicycle Rentals & Tours website by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button next to their preferred tour time (www.routesrentals.com), or by calling (505) 9335667 during business hours. The inaugural Routes ‘Biking Bad’ tour will take place on July 13, 2013, and will continue bi-weekly thereafter. All tours are approximately two and a half hours, and packages begin at $50 with bike rental. About Routes Bicycle Rentals & Tours Routes Bicycle Rentals & Tours (www.routesrentals.com) is a local, family-owned bicycle tour and rental boutique in the historic urban core of Albuquerque, NM with a focus on providing unique, sustainable experiences and products for their patrons.
