ree New Mexico is bringing the art project ‘The Blue Trees’ by Australian Artist Konstantin Dimopoulos to three Albuquerque locations: April 12 & 13, 2013.

“The Blue Trees is a social art action. Through colour I am making a personal statement about the spirituality of trees and their importance to our very survival: trees are the lungs of the planet. Colour is a powerful stimulant, a means of altering perception and defining space and time. The fact that blue is a colour that is not naturally identified with trees suggests to the viewer that something unusual, something out of the ordinary has happened. It becomes a magical transformation.” - K. Dimopoulos The Blue Trees is an International art project that is now in four countries.

Albuquerque will be the seventh city in the USA to host the project. The purpose of The Blue Trees is to bring awareness to global deforestation.

Konstantin Dimopoulos stated, “As Purveyors of water, consumers of carbon, treasure houses of species, the world’s forests are ecological miracles.

They must not be allowed to vanish.” Konstantin also feels strongly about the connection of The Blue Trees and the community; providing an opportunity to enrich the City’s cultural fabric, promoting tourism, providing a legacy of community engagement, and bringing awareness to the role of trees in City Beautification, and for environmental sustainability.

The Colourant The colourant used on the trees has been developed specifically for this project. It is not paint. It is a biologically-safe ultramarine mineral pigment in a water base. The colourant is safe for plants, animals, insects, humans and waterways, and is classified as a non-hazardous substance by the Australian National Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Taste of Film Event to Benefit The Storehouse during AFME As part of the incredible week of spectacular events held at The Albuquerque Film & Media Experience, Executive Producers Lainie S. Quirk and Ivan Wiener are set to produce a culinary evening extravaganza, called Taste of Film, a food and film lover’s dream event, presented by Stella Artois and Clear Channel Media + Entertainment, to spotlight films from AFME’ s festival showcase through a delicious representation by the creative mind of Chef Michael Giese from the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

Know Your Telemarketing Rights

H

ow do you know if a telemarketing call is a scam? That friendly voice on the phone may belong to an honest salesperson who is just trying to make a living or a crook who wants to trick you out of your money. Three-quarters of the adults recently surveyed by Consumer Federation of America (CFA) said that they think it is hard for most consumers to tell the difference. And while nine in ten are concerned that telemarketing calls from companies they haven’t done business with before might be fraudulent, many do not know their basic telemarketing rights.

Knowing your telemarketing rights can help you spot fraud, because legitimate companies usually follow the rules; scammers don’t. Is an unfamiliar company calling you even though your phone number is on the National Do Not Call Registry? Is it a recorded sales pitch when you never gave the company written permission to make that type of “robocall” to you? Is the company’s number blocked on your caller ID? CFA’s new guide to Understanding Your Telemarketing Rights and Avoiding Fraud explains what telemarketers should and shouldn’t do and how you can report violations. If the telemarketer is violating your rights, STOP! HANG UP! It may be a scam.

Other danger signs of telemarketing fraud include:

Their aim is to cash in and disappear before you realize that you’ve been robbed.

Crooks are also taking advantage of prepaid cell phones, Internet phone service, caller ID “spoofing” and other technologies to mask who and where they are. Often, they’re in foreign countries, making it difficult for U.S. law enforcement to pursue them. It’s also a danger sign if a prize is being offered as part of a sales pitch and the telemarketer doesn’t tell you that no purchase is necessary.

Another clue is how you’re asked to pay. Fraudsters usually want to get paid fast and in cash—they don’t want to wait for checks to clear or for payments to go through the credit card system, so they look for other ways

How To Clean Your Car

Give the car a final rinse: Remove the spray nozzle from the hose and let the water cascade down the surfaces of the vehicle. To avoid water spots, dry your car with a chamois or other product made for drying.

Cleaning your vehicle inside and out prevents the buildup of damaging chemicals and dirt, reduces the potential for rust from road salt and helps ensure proper visibility needed for safe driving.

To get started, remove any clutter from inside the car, including items that have accumulated in the trunk that can add extra weight and reduce fuel efficiency. The next step is to thoroughly clean and vacuum the interior and wash the windows.

When washing the outside, include the tires, wheels, underside and fenders to eliminate any road salt or grime. Wheels and tires should be cleaned with a mitt other than the one used to wash the body. This will avoid contaminating the vehicle’s paint with debris from the wheels and tires.

Wash in the shade and with a product sold specifically for cars. Wash one section at a time, thoroughly rinsing away the soap as you go. Work

The last step is to wax the car. This should be done out of direct sunlight and every six months. It goes a long way toward protecting the vehicle’s finish and makes subsequent washes easier.

If you found any stone chips, rust or other problem spots while washing your vehicle, the experts at the Car Care Council recommend having these taken care of immediately to prevent further damage.
