The Hazelwood Athlete Scholarship Preparation Programme (HASPP) is designed for our pupils that are preparing to apply to senior schools for a Sports Scholarship. The programme is designed to drive and push our pupil's performance, to ensure they are prepared for the rigours of a sports scholarship assessment and senior school sports. The programme also includes workshops and mentoring sessions, to help develop our children’s mental approach to their sports and performance
When applying for sports scholarships, the senior school in question will require a reference from Hazelwood asking how your child has demonstrated outstanding or exceptional sporting ability and commitment to the sports programme. It is hoped that by being a part of our Athlete Scholarship Preparation Programme, we will be able to show that your son or daughter has shown excellent commitment and is striving to achieve excellence in the sporting arena.

Mr Jones will contact pupils individually to let them know when their mentoring weeks will take place.
Pupils will be able to practise their interview techniques and discuss areas which will be included in their senior school scholarship interviews. Interview practice will take place with Mr Fagg and Mr Jones, who will focus on wider senior school interview topics and sports specific topics respectively.
We are thoroughly excited to give our scholars additional coaching provision in small groups, to refine and develop core skills and develop advanced techniques. Sessions are open to all of our sports scholar pupils, and we hope to see pupils taking part in all additional sessions. The transfer of skills between sports is phenomenal and skills learnt in one sport can positively impact performance in others.
The below coaching clinics will take place until Christmas, when we will review our sports and identify how our pupils need to develop.
The lacrosse clinic will give our potential scholarship pupils the opportunity to develop the core and fundamental skills required to play the game. Many senior schools include lacrosse in their offering, and we want to ensure that our Hazelwood pupils are prepared for this.
The lacrosse clinic will be run by Miss Park who is a lacrosse specialist.
