Dear KU Faculty,
My name is Hayley Ford and I am writing to express my strong interest in addressing societal challenges through innovative solutions, and community engagement. I am deeply passionate for using design to meaningfully impact communities in an everevolving world.
My hands-on experience with housing projects, particularly the Phoenix House project created under Professor Chad Kraus, has been instrumental in shaping my dedication to fostering sustainable and meaningful change. Collaborating with a team to design and actually construct a tiny home for a nonprofit serving the homeless was transformative, and offered me real insight into how the power of design can foster dignity and the feeling of home. This experience, along with other previous housing-focused studio projects during my time at KU, has cemented my interest in advancing sustainable and impactful architectural solutions.
I am hopeful that this program will offer me an opportunity to bridge my academic learning with real-world application. I would like to increase my understanding of the challenges surrounding modern-day design, and explore innovative pathways to address them. I am also confident that my foundation in design, coupled with my hands-on project experience and key attention to detail, will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the program while growing as a young professional.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the possibility of joining this program and contributing to its dynamic community of firms, students and alumni alike.
Best regards,
Hayley Ford
