A Word from the CEO Haxtun Health continues on a forward and upward path. Despite the challenges we have all faced through this pandemic, we continue to grow and embrace the promise of the future.

We continue to be here for you, no matter what. We are better and stronger than we have ever been and continue to improve both our facilities and our team. The addition of Dr. Amy Seinfeld to our team has taken healthcare here to a new level. Dr. Seinfeld is passionate about not only improving the quality of your life but also making sure that you have plenty of life to live. Her expertise coupled with her warm and delightful personality exemplifies a provider that truly cares about you.

Haxtun Health has secured grant funding for several projects. We are not using any funds from our operations or asking taxpayers for more money for these projects. We just opened the best clinic in Fleming! Our new Fleming Clinic is beautiful, open 5 days a week, accepting new patients, and offers same day appointments. We have begun our Main Street Clinic Project. This new clinic will double our current clinic space, provide for a larger and more convenient retail pharmacy, and a physical therapy/rehab space that will double our current capacity. We have also begun an Infrastructure project. This will breathe new life into our current building with new heat, air conditioning, lighting, electrical, a new roof and more. While these improvement projects take place, concurrently, we may experience limited parking and temporary entrances.

This short-term pain will provide long-term gains for our patients, community and those we serve.

Local Patient Expresses Gratitude for Swing Bed Program On a Saturday in March, Becky Workman’s life unexpectedly changed.

She spent the day out with her family celebrating her husband’s birthday. As evening arrived, she felt sick and unwell. Hours later, her legs were unrecognizably swollen. Afraid and concerned, her husband drove her to the Emergency Room, where providers couldn’t find a pulse in her legs.

Rushed to Greeley for emergency surgery, Workman’s family was told she would lose both of her legs. Her surgery was successful, and doctors saved her legs; however, the next month of recovery tested her strength and patience.

Impressed by her care team, Workman trusted they had her best interests at top of mind.

“Everyone who came into my room was caring for me as if I was their family member — mom, daughter or sister,” she said.

“Haxtun Health’s staff is held to a high standard for patients, and it shows.”

Once Workman was ready to go home, Haxtun Health staff made the transition simple and seamless. Although she has nerve damage in her arms and legs, she is back to walking, jogging and biking.

She is thankful to be alive.

At Haxtun, Workman could go for outdoor walks and see her children, husband and dogs. She developed close personal relationships with staff and never felt like “just another patient.”

Swing Bed Services The Swing Bed Rehabilitation program provides a stable, therapeutic environment where patients can recover between hospital and home with the guidance and help of doctors, nurses and rehab specialists.

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of preventative screenings and early detection of breast cancer. If diagnosed early and treated before it spreads, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 99 percent, according to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Gynecological care includes well-woman visits, birth control visits, STD testing, postmenopausal care and more. Routine screenings are crucial to prevent chronic diseases such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer and endometriosis. Women should schedule an exam once per year.

Dr. Seinfeld ensures her patients are not only physically healthy, but also emotionally and mentally healthy.

“Mental health is interconnected with female hormones, which plays a huge role in how we age and how we feel,” she said.

At Haxtun Health, patients can schedule a women’s health exam that includes a routine Pap and noninvasive breast exam. Once complete, patients are prescribed an external screening for a mammogram, a low-dose X-ray that allows doctors to take an in-depth look at changes in breast tissue.

If changes are detected, Dr. Seinfeld works with her patients to assess and develop a proactive treatment plan.

“As a small rural hospital, it’s a luxury to spend in-depth time with our patients,” she concluded.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know our community members and their personal stories to address their healthcare needs on an individual basis.”

October: Women’s Health Month OCT 1 – 31: WELL WOMAN’S EXAM Each woman that completes a Well Woman’s Exam during the month of October will be entered into a prize drawing. Haxtun Health will also offer a free B12 shot to eligible women during each Well Woman’s Exam.
