The answer is yes, we are. The final phase of Haxtun Health’s Main Street Clinic has begun. It’s been exciting to watch the progression of interior walls going up as we can now see what once was just a vision finally becoming a reality. Getting to this point has required patience from our community, Haxtun Health staff, and the Governing Board We are grateful to the community for their patience as we secured funds for the project. Recently receiving final confirmation of funding, the Board approved and signed a contract with SKARCO Construction to complete the build-out for the new clinic. The goal has been, and still is, to build a brand new 10,000-squarefoot clinic on Main Street without asking the district taxpayers to incur long-term debt, and we are on track to do that . The building will be home to our Retail Pharmacy, Out-Patient Physical Therapy, and the Haxtun Health Clinic . With construction underway, we hope to have the project completed in 9-12 months
We could have finished the clinic by now if we were willing to take on long-term debt, but we did not believe that was the right thing to do if there were funds available to complete the clinic that did not have to be paid back. We have been awarded a DOLA (Department of Local Affairs) grant, a CDS (Congressionally Directed Spending) grant, and other grants and supplemental funds, allowing us to build the new clinic without long-term debt . Plain and simple, that is why we have been waiting Right and Right Now are not always the same thing; we are committed to doing what is Right. Many thanks to the Board and Administrative Team for the extra effort, long hours, multiple requests for funds, and faith to accomplish a miracle.

Summer is upon us, and that means it’s time to call the Haxtun or Fleming Clinic to make annual exam appointments for your children. They’re free for most families with insurance.
If you have children or teenagers, it’s important they receive a general exam by one of the healthcare providers at Haxtun Health once a year Why?
“It’s a great, comprehensive way to ensure your children are healthy in all aspects of their lives,” said Rebecca “Reba” Bean, a primary care Physician Assistant
These exams take about 40 to 60 minutes and are sometimes referred to as “well child exams” because for the most part, they confirm that all is well. During the exam, your child’s provider will not only check their pulse, blood pressure, height, weight, growth, reflexes and other basic physical attributes. They’ll also examine the child’s eyesight and hearing. They’ll make sure your child is growing and developing at a normal rate for their age. They’ll discuss nutrition, physical fitness, emotional wellness and other health and safety issues. They’ll review any vaccinations you might want your child to receive to be caught up with recommended vaccination schedules, which continue through high school. And if you or your child have any concerns or questions about intermittent issues or development, there’s plenty of time during this exam to bring them up .
“Well child exams are a way for us to identify a potential problem sooner rather than later,” said Clinic Manager Natasha Wilson “And they help develop relationships among parents, children and providers so they’re comfortable coming in for future visits in case of illness or injury.”
If your child plays school sports and needs a Sports Physical Form filled out and signed so they can participate during the coming school year, just bring your school’s form with you to the exam. The nurse and provider will fill it out.
And if your child has medical insurance, including CHP+, one well child exam per child per year is almost always free—with no copay! This makes well child exams one of the best healthcare values going. To make an appointment for your child in Haxtun or Fleming, call 970-774-6187 .
During July and August, for every well child exam completed, Haxtun Health will donate $10 to each student’s classroom teacher to help offset classroom preparation expenses. We’re calling it the “Healthy Student, Happy Teacher” campaign . Appointments are available in Fleming and Haxtun All high school, junior high and elementary students in all surrounding schools are eligible to participate
Call 970-774-6187 to make an appointment.

The Haxtun Hospital Foundation has partnered with Haxtun Health to provide 8 new, replacement AED units in central locations throughout the community Although Haxtun Health maintains the existing units, most of the units are at end of life or hard to find replacement parts for. The new AED units are all the same brand and model which will help Haxtun Health streamline the process of maintaining the units, keeping our community as safe as possible in an emergent situation. The new AED’s are located in the High School gym, Elementary, Swimming Pool, Ballfield/ Park, Community Center, and Police Cruisers. A big thanks to the Haxtun Hospital Foundation for funding this project!
