太陽光発電技術の分野における特許活 動のレベルは、2000年から2020年に かけて大幅に増加しました。特許活動 の測定に用いられた尺度は、各年に出 現する特許出願の新規ファミリーの数* です。
The level of patenting activity in the field of photovoltaic solar technology increased considerably from 2000 to 2020, the measure of patenting activity used to be the number of new families of patent applications* appearing each year.

着目した一つの問題が、技術開発の地 理的起源、即ちどの国から生まれたも のかです。特許出願のファミリーが主 張する優先権の基礎出願国が、そのフ ァミリーの主題である技術開発の地理 的起源を知る手がかりとなるかもしれ ません。
One matter of interest is the geographical origin of developments in technology: which country do they come from? The country of the priority claimed by a family of patent applications might be taken as a guide to the geographical origin of the development in technology which is the subject of the family.
* 年ごとに出現する特許出願の新規ファミリーの数 は、特許活動の尺度とみなされています。特許出願 の各ファミリーは、同一の発明又は技術開発に関す る1つまたはそれ以上の特許公報で構成されていま す。一つのファミリーには、異なる国々の公報また は同じ国の異なる公報（出願公報や登録特許公報な ど）が含まれる可能性があります。基本的に、一つ のファミリーの全メンバーは同じ優先権を主張して います。新規ファミリーが出現するのは、そのファ ミリーのいずれかのメンバーにいずれかの特許庁か ら最も早い公報が発行されたときです（多くの国を 対象とする、EPOの新しいEspacenet Patent Search データベースより引用）。
* The number of new families of patent applications appearing year by year is taken as a measure of patenting activity. A family of patent applications is made up of one or more patent publications relating to the same invention or development in technology. It may include publications in different countries and/or different publications in the same country (e.g. publications of an application and then of the granted patent). Generally, all members of the family claim the same priority. A new family appears with the earliest publication of any member of the family by any patent office (as noted in the EPO’s new Espacenet Patent Search database, which covers many countries).
