What are Belgian Waffles?
Belgian waffles originated atThe Brussels World Fair Expo in 1958 and were introduced in NorthAmerica in 1962 at the Century 21 Exposition in Seattle.Authentic Belgian waffles, also called liege waffles, typically have a yeasted batter which makes them light and fluffy yet crisp outside, but at times baking powder and/or baking soda are used instead.
Belgian waffles are thicker and usually larger than regular waffles because they are made with a waffle iron that has deeper grids. These deep pockets are ideal for holding delicious pools of syrup. You can even skip the syrup and add Nutella, jam, or peanut butter.
Different Belgian waffle pans are used to cook square, rectangular, and round waffles.

Directions:
● Preheat your waffle iron/waffle maker, spray with non-stick cooking spray, and put aside.
● In a large bowl beat together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
● In a separate medium bowl mix together the vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract.
● Add the above mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well.
● Pour the batter onto your hot waffle iron/waffle maker and cook according to the manufacturer's directions
● Serve immediately with the butter, syrup, powdered sugar, or any other favourite toppings you prefer.
