In 1948, he received a B.S. in Political Science with Minors in Philosophy and Economics—with honors. He was accepted at Yale, Columbia, Michigan, and Harvard Law Schools. He choose Harvard.
His honor was born October 6, 2912 in Swiftown, Mississippi. He was the son of the late William and Drusilla Cousins and was the oldest of two children. During these early years, Bill began his lifelong activism in the church. In Memphis, he and his mother were members of Little Rock Baptist Church, where they attended three services early Sunday. Yet, avoiding dangerous paths we’ve also progressed through political mine-fields orchestrated to consume activists! But, by the ‘Grace of God’ and without the support of hypocrites sitting in seats of authority... blacks and Hispanics continue to stand as warriors marching onward! ‘God’s Amazing Grace’ has sustained the believer and will prevail if we so allow!
