Stone church built in 1309. According to the legend, it was built as a penance for sins by the rich and powerful Rika-Ragna. Guided tours for groups on request.

Eidfjord has a wide range of walking and hiking paths, brochure “Hiking pleasures” available at the Tourist information. Examples: • Vøringsfossen, spectacular canyon trail from 1872 to the waterfall. 1.5 h hike. See p.24-25. • Kjeåsen, nice, but steep footpath to Kjeåsen from the fjord at Sima powerplant to the mountain farm 530 masl. 3-4 hour round trip. • Simadalselva, 3 km trail along the river in Simadal valley. Suitable for wheelchairs. • Hæreid, historical walk from the centre. 90 minutes round-trip.

Hardangerjøkulen The 6th largest glacier in Norway.
One of the largest rockfill dams in Norway. 1, 160 m long and a volume of 3, 640, 000 m3. Clearly visible from route 7.
