Dear Camp Harbor Families, Welcome to our Workshop Programs!
Workshops are held before camp from 8 am to 9 am or after camp from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
Workshops are offered for a flat rate regardless of enrollment in the Camp Harbor program. There will be no pro-rating of workshop pricing, except for the week in which camp is closed due to the Fourth of July holiday.
We may add or change Workshops over the course of the year. Please refer to camp e-blasts and the camp website for changes.

Workshops 2024
July 8th - July 12th
Desserts Around the World
Grades K-8
AM Workshop
Learn how to make different desserts from around the world. In this worksop campers will learn how to measure and level ingredients. Throughout the week they will come home with 5 unique desserts from around the world. Materials fee: $35
Flag Football
Grades 4-8
PM Workshop
Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!? This instructional workshop is designed for players to learn the basics of football and have fun while doing it. Learn the wide receiver route tree, defensive concepts, and throwing mechanics. Each day ends with a scrimmage, so campers can showcase their new skills. The workshop is non-contact, therefore no additional equipment is needed. Minimum of 8 campers needed for this workshop to run.
Sewing
Grades 2-8
AM Workshop
Spend the week learning to sew! This workshop will consist of a few different sewing projects for beginners using felt, needles, and string. They will learn a couple different stitches and sewing techniques to help further their knowledge.
Math
Grades 1-4
PM Workshop
The focus will be on basic skills in addition and subtraction, including problem solving, speed drills, money, geometric shapes (for younger grades), telling time, skip counting, place value, and basic geometry (for the older grades). Manipulatives, group activities, games and various workbooks will be used. The specific goals of enrolled students will be addressed.
Language Arts
Grades 1-4
AM Workshop
Students focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, phonics and writing skills. The enjoyment of reading and writing will be stressed in this class as students strengthen their skills. Various textbooks, workbooks, games and skill series will be used. The goals of the students enrolled will be taken into consideration when planning the specifics of the curriculum.

Cooperative Games
Grades K-3
AM Workshop
Working together is a key piece of being on a team. Through a variety of hands-on games and activities, campers will work together to accomplish the daily game challenge. All games will require campers to move, think, problem-solve, and get their heart rates pumping. Some games will be Mission Impossible, Marble Challenge, Boat Races, and many more.
Science: Life Cycles
Grades 2-4
AM Workshop
Campers will learn about the life cycle of various plants, animals and insects. Students will participate in hands-on activities, including planting a bean plant of their own. By the end of the workshop, campers will be able to describe how and why different living organisms have different life cycles.
Ukulele
Grade 2-8
PM Workshop
The ukuleles are back! Go beyond the basic ukulele lesson learned in music class to refine your craft and become a ukulele extraordinaire. Learn new notes and techniques, so you can jam out to the sweet sounds of the ukulele. Please Note: ukuleles are supplied by Camp Harbor, but spots are limited.
Chess
Grades 1-5
PM Workshop
Learn how to play chess, including basic moves and all of the rules. Needs 10 to run.
Lego & Scratch Coding & Robotics Workshop with Mr. Sperling & Mr. Weissbach
Grades K-4
8:00 am - 9:00 am
Harbor's very own Head of School, Mr. Sperling, and Director of Technology, Mr. Weissbach will engage children in the banter of coding! Activities to include Lego Spike, Scratch Jr., and Scratch based on age and experience. Participants will have opportunities to solve complex problems while exploring a wide variety of coding languages as well as robotics. Each day will involve a new and exciting series of tasks to perform and age-appropriate situations to address using technology. Come join us for a week of fun and ingenuity!

Beading Club
Grades 1st-5th
AM Workshop
Campers will participate in many craft activities using pony beads and perler fuse beads. Campers will make take home crafts including pony bead animal critter keychains and perler bead animals.
Fairy House Building
Grades 2-8
PM Workshop
Spend the week building your very own fairy house for the garden! We will start our week scavenging supplies from outside to use to build and decorate our fairy houses. Everyone will be taught what sort of supplies they should be trying to collect and how to use them in a creative way to build their houses. By the end of the week everyone will walk away with a completed fairy house that they can put outside for a fairy to move into!

Basketball

Available 7/8
Want to become the King or Queen of camp knockout? Work on your game in this exciting weeklong basketball clinic. Campers will learn the fundamentals in shooting, rebounding, dribbling, defense, and passing through games and contests. No prior experience necessary, just an interest in the sport. Minimum of 8 campers needed for this workshop to run.

Japanese Fish Printing
Grades 1st-5th
PM Workshop
Dive into a summer art adventure with our camp workshop inspired by Japanese fish printing! Campers will unleash their creativity as they experiment with making their own fish prints, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese techniques. Afterward, they'll affix their prints to colorful backgrounds they paint themselves, creating stunning artworks reminiscent of summer's vibrant hues. Join Mrs. O'Dwyer for a hands-on exploration of art and culture!
Game Club
Grades 2-5
AM Workshop
Campers will engage in classic board and card games such as Monopoly, Jenga, Uno and Headbanz. Campers will practice turn taking and good sportsmanship while having fun with other campers!

Summer Fun Cupcake Decorating
Grades K-8

Campers will start the week off with baking cupcakes. Each day they will learn a new technique in cupcake decorating using a variety of pastry tool and candies. Materials fee: $35

Babysitter Course (Red Cross)
July 31- August 2nd (CIT Only)
Students will learn the responsibilities of being a babysitter, how to handle emergencies and prevent accidents, how to play with children of different ages, how to diaper and dress infants, and how to prepare simple foods. They will also learn how to interview for a job and what to expect from employers.
CPR(Infant/Child)
July 31- August 2nd (CIT Only)
Participants will become familiar with the Emergency Medical Services System, learn how to perform a primary survey and how to respond to a breathing and cardiac emergency in a child and an infant. Students will learn about safety and prevention of childhood injuries. Older students may receive certification.
First Aid (Red Cross Community)
July 31- August 2nd (CIT Only)
After completing this course, participants will be familiar with how to recognize an emergency and care for victims of injuries and sudden illness. Older participants may be able to receive certification.

Taylor Swift Inspired Bracelets
Grades 2-8
PM Workshop
Join Mrs. O'Dwyer's camp workshop for a creative adventure inspired by Taylor Swift's Eras tour. Campers will craft friendship bracelets, drawing on the trend of bracelet trading. With Mrs. O'Dwyer's guidance, they'll explore patterns and techniques, creating unique tokens of friendship in a fun-filled atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie.
Culture and Geography Club
Students entering Grades 3-4
AM Workshop
Campers will learn about cultures from countries around the world. Students will learn about what daily life is like in multiple countries, including what they eat, the sports that they play and music they listen to. Students will listen to music, participate in dance, and create take-home projects based on the countries studied.

Campers will learn and/or brush up on the concepts of multiplication and division through hands-on activities and games. Campers will learn strategies to become successful mathematicians.

Get ready for Kindergarten! In this workshop we will be working on skills your child needs to be successful during their first year in school. From letter names and sounds, to numbers and counting, and social skills, children will work both independently and together to have fun while they're learning. Don't miss out!
CIT Workshops 2024
