ALLERGENS
Just like with other foods, introducing allergens should happen with one food at a time, repeating over the course of 3 days unless an intolerance is observed.* The most common food allergens are: wheat, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, and peanuts. While the current American Academy of Pediatric guidelines do not recommend delaying the introduction of common allergens, always check with your baby's pediatrician as they know your baby and family history best.
Possible Signs of Allergy or Intolerance: A new skin rash
Vomiting, diarrhea
Blood in the stool
*If you think baby is allergic to a food, eliminate it from her diet and see if the symptoms disappear. Ask your pediatrician about any new symptoms if you suspect a food allergy. If baby has a severe reaction, seek medical attention right away.
