Intern Magazine Day Brief

This brief was done in collaboration with Charlotte Rotherham, Emily Lodge and Anna Sergison. The topic and concept were joint decisions derived from a brainstorm discussion. Emily and Anna researched relevant sports. Charlotte and I researched and discussed names. Further on in the process I research photos, Charlotte and Emily worked on the logo and Emily made the final front covers. The ideas for the crowd funding campaign were generated by Charlotte and myself. Words for the presentation were summarized in a document by myself. Our concept and campaign ideas were presented by Charlotte, Anna and myself.
Brief Part 1 In groups we were asked to come up with a concept for an independent magazine and produce ideas to a front cover and content of first issue. Part 2 Generate ideas for how to run a crowd fundraising campaign. Part 3 Present the concept and campaign idea to the rest of the year group. Concept Contender is a quarterly magazine aiming to feature obscure sports taking place across the globe with emphasis on the cultural aspects. The magazine can be described as a light hearted documentary magazine with layout focussing on high quality imagery telling most of the story to give a real sense of the sport. Content Of First Issue Each issue will feature four different obscure sports. The first issue will focus on Roller Derby Dog Surfboarding Belly Flopping Ultimate Frisbee All issues will follow the same format each time with the following sections: Introduction to the rules of the sport. Up to date information of what is happening in the relevant sports. A feature on a person or team within the sport. First hand account from the Contender team from their first trial of a chosen sport in each issue.
