New position for press and public relations
Seit dem 1. Oktober 2008 ist die Dipl- Soz. Heidi Müller-Henicz für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit im HWK zuständig. Neben dem Internetauftritt und der Pressearbeit ist sie für die Gestaltung und den Inhalt von neuen Infomaterialien verantwortlich und steht als Ansprechpartnerin für alle öffentlichen Belange zur Verfügung. Darüber hinaus wird sie künftig die kulturellen Veranstaltungen des HWK organisieren.
The social scientist Heidi Müller-Henicz took charge of public relations for the HWK on October 1, 2008. In addition to web presence and public relations, she is responsible for the design and contents of new informative literature; she is the contact person for all public issues and will organize the cultural events of the HWK.
»Im Moment ist es eine spannende Zeit. Es herrscht so etwas wie Aufbruchstimmung«, beschreibt Beatrice Riewe die »gefühlte« Atmosphäre am Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg. 1997 begann sie hier ihre berufliche Laufbahn als Sekretärin. Seit September 2008 heißt ihr neuer Chef Prof. Reto Weiler und mit seinem Amtsantritt hat sich teilweise auch der Aufgabenbereich verändert. War bei dem Vorgänger, Prof. Gerhard Roth, die Terminkoordination ein Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit, so unterstützt sie Prof. Weiler eher im organisatorischen Bereich. Dazu gehört das Management von Fortbildungsveranstaltungen ebenso wie die Aufbereitung von Statistiken. »Wir wollen zunehmend von der Papierablage weg und hin zur elektronischen Datensicherung«, nennt Beatrice Riewe einen weiteren großen Aufgabenbereich, der sie auch noch in den nächsten Monaten in Anspruch nehmen wird. »Ich sehe mich als Informationsschnittstelle zwischen Institutsleitung und Kollegen. Dabei ist es sehr wichtig, Stimmungen wahrzunehmen. Das einfache Übermitteln von Informationen kann zu Missverständnissen führen. Deshalb versuche ich, mehr über Motive und Ziele zu erfahren, wenn ich das Gefühl habe, es besteht Frage- oder Verständnisbedarf«, beschreibt sie ihre Auffassung von einer gelungenen Kommunikation. Der ständige Kontakt zu Wissenschaftlern und Nachwuchsforschern, die aus der ganzen Welt an das HWK kommen, ist eine weitere Facette ihrer Arbeit, die sie sehr schätzt. Eine ihrer wichtigsten Erfahrungen: »Ich habe gelernt, dass in anderen Kulturen Dinge normal sind, die bei uns überhaupt nicht gehen. Dabei gibt es kein Richtig und kein Falsch, sondern nur die ganz eigene persönliche Sichtweise.«
»This is an exciting time. There’s a prevailing sort of spirit of optimism,« says Beatrice Riewe of the atmosphere at the Hanse Wissenschaftskolleg. She began her professional career as a secretary in 1997. Since September 2008, she has had a new boss – Prof. Reto Weiler – and her scope of duties has changed somewhat since he took office. Whereas with her former boss, Prof. Gerhard Roth, her work focused on coordinating appointments, it has now shifted to assisting Prof. Weiler with organizational tasks. This includes managing advanced training courses as well as preparing statistics. »We want to progress away from the paper filing system and switch over to electronic data storage,« notes Beatrice Riewe, listing a further sizeable duty that will occupy her time for the next few months. »I see myself as the information link between institute management and co-workers. As such, it is very important to be aware of people’s moods. Simply relaying information can lead to misunderstandings. That’s why I try to find out more about the motives and aims when I have the feeling that something isn’t clear,« she adds, describing her conception of a successful correspondence. The constant contact to scientists and young researchers who come from all over the world to the HWK is another aspect of her work that she values highly. One of her most important experiences: »I’ve learned that in other cultures, some things are normal that just aren’t done here. There is no right and no wrong, just each unique personal point of view.«
Beatrice Riewe ist 44 Jahre alt, verheiratet und Mutter eines 14-jährigen Sohnes. Ihre Freizeit verbringt die begeisterte Sportlern gerne auf dem Badminton- oder Volleyball-Feld.
