IN A TIME OF GREAT

ISOLATION

We spent time looking around our © April 2020, Hanover College Art and Design environment for objects that could be photographed or cropped with the camera that looked like and embodied the characteristics of an particular letterform.

Each photo is part of a two-page spread and is accompanied by a large typographic letter and some text that enhances the experience of that letterform. Each designer could choose a typeface that is different on each spread and the text could be composed of any format or origin that they deemed would accentuate and enhance the viewers’/readers’ understanding or enjoyment of looking at and deciphering each composition. Here are the designers that participated in this challenge:

Look Around Typography and letterforms are evreywhere. All you have do is look around you and allow your creativity to help you see it. Messages from the world are hidden and obvious at the same time. Inspiration can be found in the smallest detail and the largest object.

Once you start to notice these letters and numerals, you will never see the world in the same way again. Enjoy the visual spaces around you, you might just discover a new experience. There is a true poetry to design and typography that lives all around us.
