PHILOSOPHY

Service through water/In service to water.

DESIGN GOALS

Create a transit station that connects the visitor to the value of Austin’s waterways as a vital cultural, functional, and ecological resource.

STATEMENT OF INTENT

Design a radically accessible and highly transparent civic center to house transportation services, generous public sani tation, water sustainability offices, and public communal grathering spaces that engage the health of the community and protect Austin’s waterways through low impact development strategies.

SUSTAINABILITY

Integrate systems for responsible water use and filtration/bioretention as the dominant themes of the proj ect. Intent is to restore the building to last another 100 years, respect its history, and maintain its identity without imposing false history.

CLIENT OUTCOME

Provide a point of community and visitor outreach for a vital water organization like the Lower Colorado River Authority. Fill the need for widely accessible public sanitation services. To hold an investment that benefits the community and reflects positively on the client.
