The Problem

Businesses and consumers discard items that are still in good condition. This leads to wastage.

We believe that one man's junk is another man's treasure. We just need to connect the right people.

Issue with Apps in the Market

Olio:

a) High volume of low quality junk that nobody wants

b) Givers spend a lot of time going through and responding to requests

c) Hoarders who use the app, same people always requesting for items

d) No clear recognition given to encourage users to give better quality items

©Worthy

Our Solution for Givers

How to encourage users to give better quality stuff:

Images of items can be Liked or Disliked

Profile of a person can be Followed/Supported

Proprietary review system instead of standard exchange review 1-5 stars

A dynamic point system where a user's nobility (points) is based on: trade balance, reviews, like/dislike count, follower/supporter count, giving and receiving count

Example 1: a giver should not be bombarded by 20 messages.

Example 2: a giver should not always receive requests from the same user.

Example 3: a giver who constantly gives low-quality junk will receive dislikes.

Our Solutions for Takers

It should not just be a first come first served basis for takers

Priority sequence for takers based on:

1) Likes and Support, nobility (points)

2) Recent activity

3) Location proximity (10 blocks/ 10 mins walk)

Example 1: a user who only take items will have a negative trade balance, reduce points, user profile will reflect dynamic point system.

Example 2: a user who takes 30 items without giving/gives junk would have a negative trade balance.

Pre-ranking

After ranking

Points System

Step 1

User posts an item

Step 2

People interested in the item

Step 3

The user with the most points/recent activity gets priority

In a Nutshell: Our Goal

To solve the problem Olio faces, tailored for the Asian Market.

1) Shouldn't be just a first come first serve basis

2) Enable givers to give more easily

3) Hoarders given lower priority

4) Encourage givers to give better quality items
