ONE Exceptional EDUCATION

WELCOME & Announcement

Pupils across the Hampton School Trust benefit from an exceptional education ̶ from our youngest children at the Pre-Prep, to boys at Hampton Prep (ages 7-11), and those at Hampton (ages 11-18).

Close links between our schools and their shared values, ethos and culture, help children of all ages to aspire to personal best while supporting those around them with kindness and respect.

We are pleased to confirm that with effect from September 2026, we shall formally become an all-through, 7-18 school. From this date, all pupils attending Hampton Prep, including those joining from September 2026, will be able to benefit from the academic and all-round excellence of a Hampton education from Year 3 to Upper Sixth (Year 13). They will benefit from a seamless transition through to Year 13 without needing to take our 11+ assessments (unless applying for scholarships).

For entry to Year 3 at Hampton Prep, pupils will sit our 7+ assessments in Year 2. While this will mean boys attending the Pre-Prep will no longer automatically transfer to Hampton Prep, these pupils will benefit from focused support for our 7+ assessments and we anticipate that the majority will continue to Hampton Prep, as is

currently the case. We remain fully committed to supporting all Pre-Prep families in identifying the most appropriate next setting for their child.

Our Pre-Prep will continue to play an integral role within the Hampton School Trust family, providing our youngest pupils with a joyful, nurturing start to their education and establishing strong foundations for their learning, confidence and academic curiosity. The values and ethos of our Trust are embedded and fostered at the Pre-Prep, ensuring that each child’s earliest experiences of schooling are happy, positive and characterised by opportunity. Our Pre-Prep girls will of course continue to be important members of our community before moving on to a range of leading schools at 7+.

This is an exciting development for the Hampton School Trust, which will further enhance our provision of an outstanding, values-led education from 7 to 18, while continuing to cherish the distinctiveness of our Pre-Prep.

Imogen Murphy, Head of Pre-Prep

By doing so, WE SHALL BE ABLE TO OFFER HAMPTON TRUST FAMILIES:

REASSURANCE AND CONFIDENCE

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE Pre-Prep?

Boys joining the Pre-Prep from September 2026 onwards will be required to sit our 7+ assessments for entry to Hampton Prep.

While boys attending the Pre-Prep will no longer automatically progress to the Prep when we become an all-through school, we anticipate that most will continue to do so via our 7+ .

Our experienced Pre-Prep teachers will ensure that every boy is fully supported, confident and well prepared for the 7+ process - just as they currently do with our Pre-Prep girls. We remain wholly committed to supporting all Pre-Prep families to identify the most appropriate next school for their child.

EVERY DAY AT PRE-PREP IS FULL OF EXCITEMENT AND DISCOVERY AS OUR CHILDREN BUILD THEIR KNOWLEDGE, CONFIDENCE AND LOVE OF LEARNING

ADDITIONAL information

A list of frequently asked questions is provided over the next few pages. We hope this information answers any queries you may have but please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything you would like to discuss.

Will this affect Hampton’s links with other prep and primary schools?

As the majority (over 90%) of Hampton Prep pupils already join the Senior School, this change will not affect the number of pupils joining us from our many other prep and primary feeder schools.

We greatly value our strong relationships with these schools and will continue to welcome pupils from a wide range of schools and backgrounds through the 11+ process, ensuring that Hampton remains the vibrant, diverse and inspiring community that makes it so distinctive.

What does this mean for boys currently attending Hampton Prep & Pre-Prep?

• Pupils currently attending Hampton Prep (Years 3 to 6) will automatically transfer to the Senior School without the requirement to sit a further assessment.

• Pre-Prep pupils currently in Years 1 and 2, will automatically progress to the Prep at the end of Year 2 and subsequently to the Senior School at the end of Year 6 without sitting further assessments. We do not want to alter the process for these families at this stage, with little time for them to explore other options or make alternative plans.

• There is plenty of time to fully prepare our younger pupils currently in Kindergarten and Reception for the 7+ assessment process. They will sit the 7+ assessments in the November of Year 2 and we expect most boys to progress to the Prep School.

Will your Assured Places scheme continue?

As all current Prep pupils will automatically progress to Hampton School without additional assessment, the Assured Places scheme will discontinue with immediate effect.

Will the 7+ assessments change?

There will be no change to our 7+ assessments – full details are available here.

Will entry to Kindergarten and Reception become academically selective?

The admissions process for entry to Kindergarten and Reception will remain unchanged. Full details can be found here

Will the curriculum change at Hampton Prep?

Our curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains challenging, inspiring and brings out the best in every pupil while at the same time preparing them for life at their senior school.

Are there any circumstances in which a pupil at Hampton Prep will not transfer to the Senior School?

While we expect Hampton Prep pupils to transfer to Hampton in Year 7, progression is conditional upon remaining at Hampton Prep until the end of Year 6, and maintaining appropriate levels of effort, academic attainment and good behaviour.

ADDITIONAL information

Will boys at Hampton Prep be able to apply for a scholarship to the Senior School?

Many boys at Hampton Prep choose to apply for Hampton scholarships via the 11+ exam and we shall continue to prepare pupils for these assessments. Further information about Hampton scholarships and the application process is available here.

How will you prepare pupils at the Pre-Prep for the 7+?

Our experienced Pre-Prep teachers work closely with their colleagues at Hampton Prep and will ensure that every boy is fully supported, confident and well prepared for the 7+ process - just as they currently do with our Pre-Prep girls. Preparation will include:

• A strong focus on developing core skills in English, Maths and Reasoning

• Practice assessments in a calm and supportive environment, building confidence and familiarity with the process

• Regular communication and discussion with parents about their child’s progress

• Ongoing prioritisation of pupils’ emotional wellbeing, ensuring they feel supported, positive and able to do their best
