Our partnership with Hampton School furnishes our students with opportunities and experiences which we cannot offer ourselves. These experiences are essential to opening up and deepening the curriculum for our pupils.
We are delighted to celebrate the many partnerships from 2017-18 and hope that this publication provides a sense of the wide variety of events that took place across last year. All of our partnerships are grounded in the belief that schools can achieve great things when they work in mutually enriching, cross-sector collaboration. Hampton benefits from long-established local, national and international partnerships and a flavour of the breadth and depth of our programme can be found in the following pages. This success could not have been achieved without the imagination, initiative and talent of colleagues and pupils in our partner schools and organisations. Thank you to all of them.

WHO ARE OUR PARTNERS? COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS: Throughout the year, we support and organise a range of events and initiatives within our local community.

SCHOOLS: For fifteen years Hampton and Lady Eleanor Holles have been part of a highly successful Independent/State School Partnership (ISSP) with five local maintained schools: Hampton High, Tolworth Girls’ School, Orleans Park School, Teddington School and The Hollyfield School. We have continued to broaden our school partnerships and in 2017-18, worked with a further 22 local maintained secondary schools and 42 primary schools providing a varied and lively range of educational and co-curricular activities for over 1,700 local pupils.

Academic partnership activities involve both primary and secondary schools and range from specialist subject lessons, to university admission preparation and revision sessions for public examinations.
SUPPORTING PRIMARY CHILDREN Over 400 Year Five children from local primary schools have taken part in our Serious Fun on Saturdays programme in the last eight years. Delivered by Hampton teaching staff and supported by Lower Sixth pupils, the sessions are designed to instil a love of learning and improve children’s literacy and numeracy, while encouraging all participants to have fun.
I have learnt to think outside the box. I really enjoyed Maths where we looked at Fibonacci’s pattern spotting and sequences. I liked the art activity and lino painting. In D&T we made racing cars which was great fun! A local Year Five pupil
PUPILS STUDY LATIN
PARTNERSHIP TEACHING DAYS Pupils from our ISSP are offered a range of dedicated subject teaching days throughout the year. Focussed events such as Music Day and Science Day allow teachers to celebrate their subjects and are designed to challenge pupils, introducing them to exciting and inspirational lessons beyond the curriculum.
SUBJECT SUPPORT Through our subject support partnerships, pupils are given opportunities to study topics they may not otherwise be offered from Computing and Coding to Languages. After being approached by some of our partner schools, Latin classes were set up for pupils aged from 12 to 15. Last year, 43 children studied Latin and are working towards a national examination at the end of their studies.

PUPILS ATTENDED THE JUNIOR SCHOOLS’ MUSIC WORKSHOP DAY
JUNIOR SCHOOLS’ WORKSHOP The past year saw our twentieth Junior Schools’ Music Workshop for 71 pupils from schools across the area. The young musicians participated in a range of master classes, led by Hampton’s Music Department, in singing, woodwind and strings. The day culminated in a celebratory concert attended by parents.
Our Music and Drama partnerships flourished last year, ranging from concerts within the community to music workshops and dramatic productions, offering learning opportunities and entertainment to many.
THE HAMMOND THEATRE
COMMUNITY CONCERTS
In addition to School productions, the theatre has become a popular community venue for local concerts and screenings from National Theatre Live and the Royal Opera House. In 201718, The Hammond Theatre donated its facilities to local charity Otakar Kraus Music Trust, who hosted a successful Christmas concert at the venue.
Hampton’s musicians contributed to a range of community musical events last year, from the annual Jazz in the Park concert to the Down’s Syndrome Association Christmas party. The summer appearance of the Swing Band at Garrick’s Temple on the banks of the River Thames in Hampton is always a popular draw.

WALDEGRAVE SCHOOL PUPILS PERFORMED IN THE 2018 MUSICAL
OLIVER! THE MUSICAL The talent and enthusiasm of girls from Waldegrave School in Twickenham are always key ingredients in the success of the biennial Lower School Musical. Last year, 20 girls joined the cast of Oliver! The Musical. Months of rehearsals paid off with three sell-out shows which delighted audiences.

SPORT PARTNERSHIPS

A range of sporting events and opportunities took place last year, offering pupils from local schools and organisations the opportunity to share our facilities and participate in a wide range of sporting partnership events.
FA DISABILITY TALENT HUB The South East Football Association Disability Talent Hub uses Hampton’s all-weather sports pitch at the weekends as a training base for young footballers who are visually impaired, deaf or have cerebral palsy. Last year, 42 young sportsmen trained at the School.
We have been made to feel so welcome and having the backing of the School has made a significant difference to what we are able to offer the players within the FA programme. It is unquestionably the best venue in the country being used within the talent programme. I hope that going forwards we can continue to further this partnership which is supporting some of the best disability footballers in the region.

Hampton’s Sports Department assisted with the organisation of several Richmond Borough sports tournaments across the year, involving 226 pupils. These included the Richmond Borough Badminton, Basketball, Indoor Rowing, Table Tennis and Volleyball Championships.
FIVE-A-SIDE FOOTBALL FESTIVAL The School fields hosted 162 young footballers from 15 local primary and prep schools for the annual Five-a-Side Football Tournament which has been running for 16 years. The pupils enjoyed a morning of sport where the emphasis was on fun and fair play.

PUPILS’ PARTNERSHIPS A key aspect of school partnerships is the benefit that can be gained from engagement and collaboration between pupils. Through different schemes, including peer mentoring and team-based initiatives, pupils learn new skills and talents, build confidence and develop talents.

ADDITIONAL NEEDS SCHOOLS Hampton enjoys long-established partnerships with two local additional needs schools, Clarendon School and the Marjory Kinnon School. Annual trips to destinations including Legoland and The Lookout Centre in Bracknell are a highlight of the year. Hampton boys also join midday playtime at Clarendon School where pupils enjoy each others’ company on the football pitch, on the climbing apparatus or just spending time chatting together.

HANDWRITTEN MEMORIAL CARDS DISTRIBUTED
Weekly Science and Maths GCSE revision sessions, run by our Sixth Formers, at Hampton High and Twickenham School, are very popular during exam preparation time. Fourth and Fifth Year Hamptonians spend their lunchtimes, once a week, at a number of local primary schools helping with Maths and Reading.
GENOCIDE AWARENESS Hampton’s Genocide80Twenty Group is engaged with several maintained schools in a number of partnership projects. We welcomed 87 pupils from seven maintained schools to our Genocide Awareness Day in October to hear the testimonies of survivors of the Holocaust and genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia. Another partnership project has been the production of an educational resources book Genocide: Know More in conjunction with Newport Girls’ High in Shropshire.

WORKING WITH CHARITIES The Hampton community works with a range of charities - from long-established international links such as the Hampton School Safe Haven in Malawi, to our three Form Charities selected every year by the pupils and members of the Common Room.
FORM CHARITY Each year Hampton pupils select three charities to support. During 2017-18, the School partnered with: local charity SPEAR, which works with London’s homeless and vulnerable; national charity Anthony Nolan which manages and recruits bone marrow and stem cell donors across the UK and global charity StreetInvest, which creates positive sustainable change for street children across the world. In total over £14,000 was donated to the three charities.
NAMIBIA In 2018, pupils from Hampton School and LEH visited Namibia where they taught in local primary schools, worked with the local farming community, as well as supporting the AfriCat Foundation. The Hampton and LEH pupils also raised funds in advance of the trip, through a Quiz Night, a Sponsored Rock Climb and Cake Sales, to help purchase much needed sports kit and Maths equipment for local school children.

The annual lacrosse match between senior Hampton rugby team members and LEH lacrosse players is always a fierce, but friendly, competition.
First Year fund-raising initiatives included the summer fun run which saw our First Years scampering across the School fields in a range of outfits.
Our Second Year pupils dressed as a range of impressive literary figures in the popular Book Character Day, which once again proved a fun opportunity to promote reading and raised funds for Form Charity.

Established in 2003, the Hampton ISSP is a thriving link between Hampton, LEH, and five local maintained schools: Orleans Park School; Hampton High; Tolworth Girls’ School; Teddington School and The Hollyfield School. Together, we have built up a lively and varied programme of educational and co-curricular opportunities enabling pupils and teachers across the partnership to work collaboratively and to draw upon the particular strengths of each school.
