What will pupils learn? Italian has long been known as one of the foremost languages in the world of art, opera and, of course, romance – even the spoken version of it sounds like a song to non-native speakers. Nothing sounds as passionate as when it is said in Italian. The Italian Department is committed to engage and inspire all pupils who will learn to use the target language effectively, independently and creatively, so that they have a solid basis from which to progress to A level or employment. Our course includes both familiar and new topics that motivate our pupils. The authentic situations and stimuli enable pupils to see language in context and learn about the culture of Italy. This course has been designed to provide pupils with the essential knowledge and skills needed to become fluent in Italian language and will give them all the necessary practical knowledge. Whether they’re learning Italian for travelling, or to talk to Italian relatives, the Italian GCSE course will enable them to communicate confidently on a basic level in everyday situations. Who is this course for? GCSE Italian, unlike the other GCSE language courses, is able to cater to pupils who are new to the language. Pupils will be tested in listening, reading, speaking and writing and will develop transferable skills, relevant to further study and the world of work. The range of topics aims to inspire pupils who are interested in Italian culture and Italian-speaking countries.

Where will this course take pupils?
