Shwood “Experiment with Nature.” The wood-sun- glass label from Beaverton, Oregon started with an experiment using a branch from a strawberry tree, old closet hinges and some old lenses from the store next door. What came out are cool looking Wayfarer-inspired sunglasses, really clean and edgy. Every piece is unique and handcrafted. Shwood gets their wood from sustainable farmed wood plantations in Africa to keep up the preservation of the tree population.

The FREITAG brothers wanted a heavyduty, functional and water-repellent bag to carry their designs.Inspired by the cheerfully coloured lorries rumbling along the cross-Zurich highway just in front of their flat, Markus and Daniel Freitag cut a messenger bag out of an old truck tarpaulin. As the carry belt, they used second-hand car seat-belt webbing, while an old bicycle inner tube provided the edging.

Vij5 Newspaper-Wood Furniture made out of wood; paper made out of wood. BUT is wood once paper you can only recycle it into other paper products. Mieke Meijer, studying at the Design Acade- my in Eindhoven, could not arrange with that fact. She took the challenge and decided to form and glue old newspapers into a “tree trunk”. The Material that she came up with can be sawn, cut and nailed.
